Man, that penguin LP... Killer finish! If they did something like that on the LP Moderns when I was looking for a higher-end guitar two years ago, I would've actually bought one. Instead, I ended up going for a Music Man Majesty. (I did grab a 2017 LP Classic HP from the demo shop a year later, which has been my go-to guitar ever since. Also love my Majesty, though.)
Random thought: I’ve bought a fair amount of brand new gibsons from 2019- present, sold and returned some. Kept the ones I loved playing the most. None of them were free of at least a couple tolerable QC issues. In your review of new gibsons you always notice a couple things as well. So in a long breath I’m saying it would be kinda cool to see examples from you of what were considered gibson factory seconds in past versus what they are pumping out as a new product now. Cause when I have heard you or even when gibson talk about seconds, it sounds like it didn’t take much for them to stamp as a second in past.
So for the past 10 years plus I have only been playing ESP guitars. I like the looks of the Les Paul, and a lot do these look cool, but this is something I noticed a lot with the mod guitars he gets in. However some of the QC stuff is also baffling like loose or missing wires from pickups. Also, C shape necks suck
Hi, I've been gone a long time, out sick for months but finally vertical again. I just bought a new Fender Stratocaster Ultra Luxe. I know, I should have bought a Gibson but I will. I have a Gibson Adam Jones Les Paul Standard Electric Guitar Silver Burst in my purchase list for 2022. Glad to be watching your videos again, I hope all is well. 😊
Jeez. Triple mudbuckers with what looks like the ability to blend them together. You could probably take the freakin' paint of the walls with that thing!
Ik this because my uncle is in a band with a deal from Gibson. They tend to lend out guitars to musicians and take them back once the deal ends or they switch out to a different one so I bet some of these come from situations like that
I wonder if they injected the clear gel or whatever it was they used on the S1. My pickup windings are still brand new looking....I brought it in 78" were those the Kent Armstrong's design? rrr
So I have a story for yall.....has nothing to do with this video just wanted to share.....I haven't played my electric guitar in awhile because it was sold do to a mixup at a storage place put my payment on someone else's account. So I went to Nashville to a music store called Sam Ash looking for an Amp. I was there for a while trying out some different ones using a Gibson SG Standard. First time I ever got to play with one. Was surprised how light it is compared to Fenders. While I was there I saw 2 guitars that people bought in that day to sale. I would of never have known what they were unless I read the headstock or asked someone. But thanks to this channel I knew exactly what they were approximately anyway. So Thank You Trogly for educating me. The first one I saw was a Squire Strat right handed with the backwards headstock. But it looked a little funny to me not cause of the headstock but because it looked short. Which it wasn't a short scale at all. The second one got me really excited though. 😊 it was a red Gibson Firebird with the Firebird decal on the pickguard. I don't know what year or version. But man it was beautiful 😍 🤩 👌 I was surprised how big they are. Anyway thanks for reading this if you did. Just wanted to Thank You for giving me some knowledge I otherwise would have never known. Keep up the good work. 👍
Hi Trogly, you should document an Eastman sb59/v. All the eastman guitars (solidbody or archtops) were REALLY GOOD for the price point. Lots of people compare them to the Gibson CS, I would love to hear your opinion
bummed out that i missed that ebony V , killer deal for sure. it will be on reverb in a week for 2000$ and 350$ shipping .... and someone will buy it....again.
Trogly, I’m surprised you didn’t notice that the white and black electrics covers on the back of the penguin make it look like a penguins big fat belly and round little face where the horn is the beak.
Hey Trogly, first off thanks for all the cool content you share. I halso have kind of a weird doubt that maybe you could be able to solve: I pulled outd my 1988 Gibson Lucille's pickups for the first time and I noticed the pickups are the Gibson Bill Lawrence HBR and HRL and, this is what really got my attention, looks like there are a couple of metal blocks underneath the bridge pickup cavity, have you ever seen anything like that? Does it suggest that my guitar is some kind of rare piece? It looks like ground wires are connected to them but I've never seen anything like it.
that 60's standard looks like someone buffed through the finish and the demo shop just kinda rolled with it and made it look more worn and buffed through more spots
The Modern DCs are lowkey hot. I bet if they sent that model to Kramer it would make more sense and sell more with the beaky bird headstock and shredder inlays
I don't know about that LP special. Looks like school bus yellow. Needs a flashing beacon and the word school somewhere on the body. I think if Gibson changed the burst a little one way or another they could've called them eclipse or an opposite way a black hole or white dwarf. Them brite yellow ones may be appealing to a crash test dummies kind of fan. Not that I could have but I don't like looking at the sold listings since there's always something that I like that's gone.
Me aswell liker988 a bit of wood burning makes it tighter and you can really tell go 4 it on cheapo please BTW TROGLY that black LP with singel coils Niiiice axe👍☺️👍
Well Gibson seems to be desperate right now to me. They still make the nice traditional guitars but repaint and sell many guitars and Murphy lab the rest to make money. I'm not fond of this
As mentioned before EU demo shop offerings suck. Guitars are barely under the new price but they are mostly trashed or worst specs that noone wants. Like 100 bucks off and you get twisted neck or delqminainf fretboard? They should be begging someone to take those. Same pricing model is true for heavy dinged and chipped finish that looks pretty bad to. I mean I would take good priced instrument with dings and chips if it looks kinda natural. But those most often look very bad and cost way to much. I am pussed while I have spent way to much time looking for a deal and that all only because I am in The Netherlands anyways.
I bought that 58 Lemon Burst she's my 1st Gibson Custom Shop guitar. Loving it.🤘😎🎸
That's a great color. 👍
Lemon would be my finish of choice as well. Congratulations.

I really like that LP special with 3 p-90s
Some nice 335’s I really liked the 1st one with the fade on the back of the neck.
I'd like to see a 3 colour burst done with black, red and that copper 😃
Living the 335/9's and the P90/Mini Humbucker guitars

You should check out the Steve Vai guitar (Hydra).

14.58 What to understand as alcohol. Tequila cannot corrode the nitro varnish in this way. Lemon juice, on the other hand, without much effort.🧐

Tri burst neck is fabulous, wish the guitar was bursted black, red, copper on the front. Not the back tho.😃
That electron magenta LP custom!!!!

The 'penguins is awesome. Similar to the old Ibanez Roadstar II black pearl.
