Honestly i wouldn't expect any less from these pricks. When these guys rug pulled the day before that's the moment they lost any dignity they ever had...
*sigh* it's one of those Studios that doesn't blame its actions and put it on someone else. What pansies are these people?
How pathetic of them
Why are you not making a video on Sega paywalling NG+ in Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth, you naughty boy
Ubisoft?
This has the same energy as: "And I would have gotten away with it, if it weren't for you meddling kids!"
We are living in a Scooby Doo society but without the “funny”. What a pathetic generation it is..
And that puppy!
I think the dog was the worst meddler...
And their stupid video cameras!
“Now let’s see who you really are!?” “It was Fantastic Co. all along!”
I still don’t know what this game was even supposed to be. A scam? A flat-out terrible product? A social experiment?
Yes
it's all of them at the same time 💀😂
Probably an attempt at gaining more visibility/marketing for an asset flip. Most asset flips just release on Steam and hope for a few bites. I don't think they accounted for how much attention this attempt would get, so it backfired messily in their faces.
What are you hating for? They tried their best and they’re a small studio.

Ah yes, showing us trailers/gameplay then releasing a game that was not even close to being what was shown/promised is definitely the fault of content creators.
They tried their best with the budget they were given. They deserve a second chance
@@Audreyana it's not their first game that they fucked up, so actually they have had more than a single chance. Besides, doing their best with a small budget doesn't necessitate putting out trailers with fake gameplay.

7 stages of a video game scam:
1.) Hype through advertising
2.) "Gameplay" trailer revealed
3.) Roadmap and community updates
4.) Massive pre order/first day sales numbers
5.) "Sorry no refunds"
6.) Company disbands
7.) Profit
anyone who bought it on steam got a full refund
and steam doesn't give company their money after every each purchase
they give it monthly
Fortunately they didn't make a dime from this disaster.
That's what makes this so weird. No preorders, all the refunds. Frankly I'm going to bet on Russian money laundering for this one.
the first 4 stages sound like normal game releases to me.
@@amosvane and most big game publisher want the 5th stage as much as possible

Don't fall for their bait and switch guys; Fntastic didn't refund a darn thing. STEAM DID.
The only reason the money was returned in full was because steam stepped in and FORCED them to do so.
People seem to forget that steam withholds payments for *3 months* for reasons including exactly this situation.
A company set on scamming it's "customers" sure as heck didn't gain a conscience over-night.
I can say without a shred of doubt that ZERO refunds would have been issued if Fnatstic was the one ultimately deciding whether or not they were issued.
Remember in their first statement when they announced their studio's closure? They made it very obvious they weren't offering refunds. Said something along the lines of "all the money is going toward paying our partners". They didn't give any indication that they'd refund anyone until they were forced.
I'm not surprised; I don't use twitter (x?) and I was never invested in this game to begin with. I'm only here because yong posted a video and it was in my feed.@@Loserstakethebait
Ohhh... Definitely didn't know Steam withheld for 3 months, but damn... REALLY good thing for that and all the people who were calling the game out, because their plan was 100% to take the money and run... Insane how they thought they could've just gotten away with it.
I also wonder if the studio 'closure' was an attempt to deflect any further action from Steam regarding potentially seeking damage on transaction fees. The game had a lot of traction, after all.
It's not super well known I would say, but if you play a lot of indie titles you'll end up hearing about it eventually. It's actually a big deal for indie studios because they have zero cash flow for the first 3 months after release.@@Kyanite_45

Meanwhile The Day Before they just give up, closed the door and blame other for their own mistakes......well done!
True. Cyberpunk 2077 and No Man's Skyhad big issues at release and No Man's Sky in particular became a laughing stock. What did they do? They didn't go around gaslightning gamers or content crerators (not that I'm aware anyway). They sat and turned their game into a decent, playable experience. Thats what passion for making games is about. Now, nobody's picking on those game studios. But Fntastic? They didn't care about their game, at all. The decision to shut down everything came BEFORE they aunched the first hot fix.

I don't know what's worse, just giving up or rereleasing the game 3+ times (Bless Unleashes, not joking)
*To everyone asking Yong to cover how "Like A Dragon" is charging for NG+;*
He is almost certainly under an NDA which is standard practice in the industry. Especially for contract workers which most voice actors are.
Depending on the details of his NDA he either can't talk about the game, *at all* except during very specific pre-planmed promotional stuff. Or, he can't talk about the game negatively in anyway.
As there's no way to address this in any positive way, the only way to keep himself out of legal hot water is to stay quiet on the subject.
Does it suck? Yes. But this is the world we live in.
I for one think the corporate world overuses NDAs and makes them overly broad and would love to see NDAs legislated. But until such times as that happens, anyone working for any major corporation in any capacity gets stangled by NDAs.
So no point in asking him.

If this wasn’t already considered the Fyre fest of video games, it certainly is now. The audacity to already try to attempt to a comeback is wild.
They basically noticed the negative response, deleted the tweet, then re-posted it to try to avoid any consequences
Kind of like what Blizzard did with that one Diablo Immortal trailer from a couple years ago lol, where it got so many downvotes, so quickly, that the whole video got removed and reuploaded to look better.
Like any psychopath they do not have the ability to actually understand or grasp normal human responses to emotional stimuli. Everything they do is a 'guess' about how people are 'meant' to respond when hurt, happy, abused, angry, stressed, etc. Human dynamics are just game theory to them. Say and do whatever they 'feel' can manipulate people to 'like' them better, regardless of the actual damage they cause, or relationship with truth or reality.
Sending this, and other, brain dead and out-of-touch communications that show zero grasp of reality or why they fail and people despise them is classic psychopath reactions. They will just keep adjusting their message, like throwing darts at a board, until they land on something that 'work better'.
Nothing they say or feel as related to human behaviour, feelings, ethics or morality is genuine or understood. They are 100% self-focused psychos who view other people as tools to be manipulated for their gain, and nothing more.
Blaming content creators while paying Dr.Disrespect to play your game? What the fuck.
As a consumer, you really have to appreciate small developers and publishers. Having no PR-department makes it easy to sus out who’s genuine and who’s bitter and greedy.
Never EVER trust a person who tries to blame literally anyone else before admitting any blame. NEVER. If anyone you know is like that, CUT ANY TIES and STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM THEM. Believe me, you'll thank me later.

Gamers are really a clueless bunch. The studio sold 200k copies, almost half got refunded. That leaves us with around 100k copies sold, 40 dollars a pop, that’s still a 4 million dollar payout. Not half bad for what it seems like 1 week of coding total
Valve doesn't seem to cash out immediately. Been hearing they hold it all for 1-2 months. Fntastic shut down like a week after launch. So I would assume Fntastic saw next to nothing of that money.
@@Lenariet maybe you’re right and Valve will issue a refund even for the accounts that didn’t ask for it. Or maybe they like their cut of that money and the studio will therefore be payed. We’ll see I suppose
