A new unwritten rule, never fiddle with another persons' radiator nob. Decisions were made with that nob.
😂
That made me laugh aloud 😂
Yes..I have a nob as well and don't like people messing with it :)
its the wear and tear to worry about
arguments as well lol
11:43 - It's chicken served in a bun (roll, bap, cob, etc.), therefore it's a chicken burger - end of.
Chicken sandwiches are chicken served between two slices of bread.
You're in the UK now and those are the rules here.
Barm.
Soooo, my favourite sarnie of Ham, Pease pudding and mustard in a bun, is a burger?!?!
@@OriginsReborn ham burger
@@OriginsReborn Think you've kind of missed the context.
Not if its a bacon bun tho
Uk food is way better . Its not artificial crap 😅
Beans on toast? GTFO.
@@TheRagratus Least the real and not artificial.
Could be worse and put spray on cheese from a can. 🤮🤮🤮🤮.
Only thing in America that is American is buffalo wings.
Burger is German and pizza is Italian. But yanks think its from America 🤣🤣
You can eat well anywhere, it's entirely your own choice
@TheRagratus if you're not British I can guarantee you haven't actually tried it, with British food that is. Also, don't assume that's our best dish, we have many many dishes here, our meats aren't filled with chemicals like America, neither are our other foods. Yes our food is way better, Americans use the same generic overload of salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder to make their food taste of anything... we don't need to
@@barr790 When I went to America . Everytime i had something to eat. My stomach was turning.
All the crap in it.
Could not wait to go back to UK and eat a Fresh chicken salad 🤣🤣
If it's in a bun it's a burger, if it's in slices of bread it's a sandwich 😉
Sticking a bit of chicken into a bun does not make it a burger.
@@personalcheeses8073 you're right. It makes it a chicken burger.
A yard is a plot of land that has no vegetation planted on it, that garden you are in has grass and trees and bushes hence the name garden.
Yup.
No grass = yard.
Grass =garden.
Rich tw@t = grounds. 😂
@@mattburley3189 Really rich tw@t = estate :-) .
The reason your burgers were not spicy is so you can taste whatever you are eating i.e chicken or beef. In the States they add spices to mask the taste of the chlorine in the chicken or growth agents in the beef.
Very well said and 100% true
It's supposed to be buffalo chicken though, which is supposed to be spicy. You can get decent buffalo sauce in the UK, as it isn't difficult to make. This guy's mistake was going to Fat Hippo, which I've had before and wasn't impressed.
I loveeeeee fat hippo! @@SLW93
The dogs singing along to Gimme Shelter was fantastic! 😅
My Alexa joined in :-)
That knob you was turning on the radiator is called a thermostat, which regulates the temperature.
That house doesn’t have a tumble dryer, not all British houses don’t have tumble dryers, I have a tumble dryer and a washing machine and a dishwasher in my kitchen and my kitchen is smaller than that one they probably just chose to have more cupboard space instead. Again all showers are different it’s down to personal choice. Also we invented the sandwich it’s not a sandwich.
We have nature's dryer.
My kitchen is tiny, I have a washer-dryer (are we sure what he had wasn’t a washer-dryer) but only use the dryer when the radiators are off and it’s raining i.e. all this summer!
Americans don’t know the wonderful experience of bedding dried in the fresh air.
A lot of people do have a different room for a washer and dryer. We call it a utility room.
Lol my Alexa just started playing Rolling Stones 😅😅😅
I went to the kitchen then suddenly heard Gimme Shelter belting out my speakers
LOL mine too!
You did well to understand that geordie accent.
I was about to say that. I’m from the south and met a guy from Newcastle ….I couldn’t understand a word he was saying. After the 3rd time of me saying, ‘I’m sorry can you repeat that?’ He stomped off😂😂
haha... I'm from Manchester and was doing tech support for United Utilities about 10 years ago. First line was in India and they also had some departments in the Phillipines; I took a call from somebody and was struggling to understand them, thinking they were in the Phillipines. Took me a good few minutes to realise it was just an engineer in Newt'assle .
Its great to see you finally getting some time to relax with friends! Enjoy.
Grass is a plant. We only call it a yard if it's paved.
Loving this blog. Said it on one of your earlier vids, but you are having the most authentic time. Doing the UK 'your way' is far more interesting than the overly produced, look at me by a red telephone box and getting on a bus vids most travellers put out. MAXIMUM RESPECT.
As an OG UK MAN id like to welcome you to our shores, your videos are both informative but also a little funny and sketchy too (glasgow for instance) . Thank you for coming and being such an amazing vivstor
Really glad you took a break to catch your breath and rest your feet. You can't enjoy a trip if you're too tired. Our plug points are universally agreed to be the safest in the world. Central heating is run off a central boiler. Each radiator then has its own thermostat so you can regulate the temperature room to room. Very much enjoying these vlogs as you are visiting things that most overseas visitors don't visit. Next time, you must do York. You'll love it.
And Avebury henge.
I second this, it's been some time since I've been to York but it's a great city! Brew York should go on your list, Spencer.
Don't mess with that Stella, you'll be fighting you're host's 🤣🤣
That only applies to lightweights.
Stella, also widely known as "the wife beater". Drunk by those who participate in domestic violence. When it was first imported to the UK it came with the advertising slogan "Reassuringly Expensive" to pretend it was a quality product. Then it got brewed in the UK under licence and it became just another cheap mediocre pigs swill drink :) Many "foreign" lagers and beers once they get brewed under licence UK taste completely different to what they do in their country of origin.
@@AlanMacleod-hv5ee and its all myth, spirits and cider are far worse for that stuff.

Back before they lowered the %. Better off getting a few 4packs of Tyksie.
Most homes have dryers but people tend to not use them in summer. Very expensive on the electric so most people hang them out. Many people have a washer/dryer combo too
Tiny kitchen, therefore washer/dryer
You look grand without a hair tie man.
Really enjoying this series/interlude.
Looking forward to your visit here.
Mind yourself!
You're putting a shift in whilst over here Spencer , well done my son ! Enjoying all of these videos.
British palette 😂 , try a brit vindaloo or phal, that'll put hairs on your chest 😅
*'Palate':... 🙂🏴♥️🇬🇧🙂🖖
('Palette' is the thing you hold in your hand with a thumb through the hole to steady it, that holds paint whilst painting a picture - portrait or landscape, in oils, usually)

Only reason the washing machine is in the kitchen; that's where the water pipes and drainage is.
@@KevPage-Witkicker 🤔 does your bathroom not have water pipes and drainage?
@@tobytaylor2154 yes, it doesnt have a 240v socket though
@@tobytaylor2154 lol yes but no room for a washing machine. In the old days houses had plumbing in the kitchen and an outside toilet, when toilets started being put indoors they were in tiny rooms.
@@eatthisvr6 I know I'm an electrician, might wonna read it again to see what I ask lol
@@KevPage-Witkicker I know, I remember. My point was there is pipes and drainage in the bathroom.
I always love your 'morning after the night before' look Spence 🤣
A lot does depend house to house, most houses would have tumble dryers, just depends on the size of the house. Some washing machines actually do both nowdays. As for cupboard designs...all down to choice, most houses don't have cupboards like that. Showers, again down to choice, I hate the showers without the removable head
I think having a tumble dryer is more to do with not wanting to dry your clothes outside than the size of the house!
The term back yard is definitely used when a property has a very small or tiny rear area outside the back door, usually associated with Victorian/Edwardian era houses, including a back gate for access with bicycles and coal delivery.
Good friend taking you dogging 😂
You guys would have seen Sarah Millican on Big Fat Quiz reactions - she is from South Shields.
A fair few houses in the UK have a 'Utility Room' which contains the washing machine, tumble dryer, sink, and in our case the downstairs toilet too, but where space is more of a premium yeah kitchen is the usual spot for washing machine. If you ask for a chicken sandwich in the UK you'll get chicken in 2 pieces of sliced bread.....
Good to see you enjoy Whitely Bay, Cullercoats, Tynemouth and the Fish Quay, not enough US visitors get to experience the North East....and you were only two minutes away from my home when in the Wallsend club!
And 2 min from my house when he was driving past Spanish City (RIP).
I had to Google where the buffs were located, I knew the name but couldn't quite place it. Then I realised it's near where I grew up in Headley place, I passed it all the time going to whites shop. And going under the metro tunnel into Rawdon court, it was a bit of a rough place but a lot of my friends lived there I had some good times there.
Your hosts have a lovely Northeastern accent. It is generally reckoned not to be an easy accent to follow.
Did you realise that Wallsend is literally tne end of Hadrian's Wall, built 122 AD? Much of the eastern end is buried under Newcastle-upon-Tyne. (By the way, you should sometimes say 'Newcastle-upon-Tyne'. This is because there's a fair-sized town (city?) further south, in Staffordshire, whuch is called Newcastle-under-Lyme.
At the start of your vid when you asked Alexa to play that song my Alexa sprung into action & played your song also lol
Biggest culture shock....a bloody plug 😂 Top lad! Hope you enjoyed your stay
I’d say that in general, burger is used in the UK to define the style and presentation. If you were to request a chicken sandwich in the UK you’d likely receive some form of cooked chicken (most probably slices or chunks of roast chicken) between two slices of bread along with whatever else you have requested or is noted as the filling and with a little salad and maybe some crisps on the side, where a chicken burger, you know it’s likely to be either breaded or battered, more often than not one large piece served in a burger bun with established condiments and or toppings, the side will almost always be some type of chips, fries or wedges too.
Oh and dryers are purely about personal preference in the UK. I live on my own and don’t really feel that I have a great need for one but pretty much everyone else in my family has one. To be honest though, if both the temperature and wind strength are in that sweet spot (which happens more than you’d think here), it doesn’t take that much longer to dry things outside on the washing line than it does to tumble dry them. Which is better for both the environment and your clothes etc…it also eliminates that chance of shrinking woollens by having them in the dryer for too long on too high a temperature…though it can increase the chances of stretching them if you don’t hang them right.
we often have a drink in the lowlights my son and daughter in law live there, been watching you and daniels channel for long time, cant beleive you have actually come to where i live hope you have a nice time sorry about the weather not so good at the moment,

I live in South Shields , it’s nice to see people visiting our region of the uk instead of the usual places
It looks lovely! I live on the south coast but after watching Spencer’s vids I think a trip to the North-east is on the cards. Been to Newcastle and Gateshead once years ago but it was for business and I never really got to see much.
Love the North East. My son lives in Northumberland. Absolutely beautiful part of the country. Off up there in ten days and can’t wait. Lovely scenery and lovely people
Jewel of the north, lol
This is a really timely coincidence for me. I was born in the north-east (North Yorkshire, just south of Middlesbrough). I’ve been living on the south coast since 1992 and I’m looking to move back to the north east now to be nearer to family. I’ve never really been familiar with North and South Shields, but I’ve been researching them over the past few months as I’m seriously considering moving there.
if you wanted A spicy chilli taste you should have ask for a Chilli burger, or you can get a plain burger and spice it up with separate sauce and seasoning yourself. The sandwich was hot slices of roast beef slapped between two slices of bread. and taken as a snack originally created in 1762 by John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich.
Good lad kept my face out of it😂😂

The off-shore winders. The UK owns the four largest win farms anywhere in the world, and six of the top ten largest. It provides for about 27% of the country’s power needs.
27% only when the wind blows. For weeks on end the wind doesn't blow that much and the 12,000 wind turbines installed in the UK only supply around 3 to 5% of our electrical energy.
Wind power contributed to 32% of electricity generation in the U.K for the past year. Coal 1.2 % Gas 29.1%
@@bordersw1239 But it doesn't work when the wind doesn't blow hence the amount of gas backup required. It's much like the claim that having solar on your roof provides a household with enough electricity for a year. Unfortunately 95% percent of it is generated in the summer months and practically zero when it is needed most on a cold winter's night.
@@AlanMacleod-hv5ee . I’ve never seen anyone claim solar will power the house the whole year. There are however solar users that build up enough credit on their accounts that they have minimal electricity bills through winter. in the U.K. ideally you need solar with battery storage. Payback is somewhere between 6-10 years.
@@AlanMacleod-hv5ee Mostly wrong, there's nearly always a breeze at sea and on the top of hills, in fact there may be more of an issue when the wind is too strong - though the turbines are well designed to handle extremes with appropriate throttles and cut-outs.
I'm glad you've gone to somewhere there isn't just London. I hope you enjoy your stay.

We have separate rooms for washing machines in Australia too.
I don't think the garden / yard terminology is as different as some people think. It's simply that 99% of British have grass & plants. So they absolutely fit your definition of a "garden". Admittedly a lot of the time it's totally neglected or overgrown, but you'd very rarely see a yard with no vegetation behind a UK home.
you'll see lots... a 'back yard' is what you'd refer to it as in an old terraced house due to the size and that there's no garden area or room to have one. If you're down South then your explanation would seem right, but if you're up North you're more likely to be close to numerous factory towns with rows and rows of terraced houses.
In the UK a back yard is usually a small area at the rear of a terraced house enclosed by brick walls with just concrete underfoot.
That's where the washing line would be to dry your washing. Also somewhere to park your bike. It might even contain an outside toilet!
Those dogs hold a tune. 🤣🤣
Your looking right at home enjoy mate
Hiya.
North Shields here
A yard where I live is usually out the back of terraced houses and they’re usually small and paved or concreted.
North Shields and Tynemouth eh? I am from the south side of the river myself.
You went to a Workingmans Club! Totally a unique UK experience

Bud, you were right by my place of work down the Fish Quay, hope you had a class time in the North East!! 💚
had to watch your vlog in 2 halves tonight Spencer there was the small matter of England qualifying for the Euros final
It depends on the size of the house where the washing machine is. any houses have a 'utility room' where the washer and dryer is.
In UK a yard is mostly concrete if I has a lawn it's a garden
Thanks for that ….you started my Alexa playing the Rolling Stones. Lol
I do like the Newcastle accent.
I would strongly recommend the works of travel writer Bill Bryson, American but largely based in the UK, he goes into great detail comparing the cultural differences between UK & the US
Dad lived in North Shields for a couple years, I use to enjoy by the harbour watching the big Cruise ships come in
Bear in mind that you are in a small house. Many houses have utility (laundry) rooms - usually next to the kitchen - that house the washing machine and spin drier etc.
