      Except when reacting to a well put together explorative video like this, where everything he looks up is explained in some detail in the video mere seconds after he's looked it up.
      Then it's just duplication.
      If he still doesn't understand after the discussion has finished, _then_ by all means, look into it further.

    The firm Fray Bentos is named after the town in Argentina where they originated. The parents of a WW1 British officer used to sell Frey Bentos tinned meats in their grocery shop. As their son was a tank commander, with typical dark British humour, he named the tank "Frey Bentos". It would end up as one of the most famous tanks of WW1. Google ""Frey Bentos", the tank that inspired "Fury"".

    Ricky Gervais has quite a few people who dislike him for many reasons but mostly connected with his stand-up. Those who are more liberal in their politics see him as punching down to some of the most maligned in society (ie trans people) for cheap laughs and those who are politically more conservative see him as vulgar. His actual tv shows and films don’t garner the same level of criticism and neither did his stint as the host of the Golden Globes (though most in the UK would have only seen it on UA-cam as if they are even aired live on tv here, it’s the middle of the night).

      @lynnejamieson2063 Місяць тому +2

      @@CarolWoosey-ck2rg yeah, how dare people care about how the words and actions of people affect others. The world is obviously a far better place if people only care about themselves and go out of their way to malign others for just being who they are and how terrible is it that they actually vocalise this to those who have millions of pounds in the bank and a worldwide following. I mean, Ricky’s feelings are obviously so much more important than those who might be borderline su!cidal due to lack of understanding about their sexuality or because they find it impossible to lose weight (and keep it off) due to medical conditions or in the case of many women the biological changes that come with pregnancy and menopause. Because being able to get a cheap laugh as a wealthy middle aged white man is way more important.
      I have no issue with near the bone jokes in general (even if they are far better when it’s the privileged that are the butt of it) but it’s Ricky’s sense of superiority that comes with his delivery that grates and there are so many comedians that do it better. Nothing wrong with his tv and film offerings though, as they tend to be much more of a reflection of actual people in the UK, instead of the almost bullying that his stand up offers.

    • @dees3179
      @dees3179 18 днів тому

      To give some context, I recently received a letter telling me I have been added to the waiting list for an appointment. That letter has taken a year to come. There are no estimates for when the appointment will be, but it is known that the lists are multiple years long. This is just for diagnosis. If I were to ‘queue jump’ by paying to get a private diagnosis I would not be eligible for any NHS support.
      This is not ADHD btw, I’ve already been on that list four years……same story despite having gone through two triage tests to get on the waiting list.
      NHS is amazing, they are why I didn’t go bankrupt in addition to having cancer, but living with conditions that really affect your life and ability to work for such a protracted time is not in any way efficient.

    I used to love Ricky Gervais, I understood he was playing a character in his stand-up and being a little bit provocative. But recently he seems to have gone against the trans community, and punching down is never cool in comedy. Marginalised groups shouldn't be a punchline. I think he's lost a lot of his original fans. But he's probably gained a load of right-wing fans, and he's still a millionaire, so he probably doesn't care. If I was a millionaire I think I'd try to be the best, most caring and inclusive version of myself, the anti-JKR. But that's just me, maybe millionaires don't care about their legacy and want to be hateful.

    An onion fritter is like a bhaji It is Indian and we use the Indian word out of respect. Indian restaurants out number the population of the UK. A bhaji is a starter along with poppadoms mango chutney and lime pickle. Follow that with a Bhuna and Pillau. 2 pints of Cobra. perfect evening.

    Omg, I had 2 young boys. I wasted so much money on those stickers every year. Ricky Gervais IS sooo popular in UK. The sun newspaper is terrible! During the hillsborough disaster , the paper reported that Liverpool fans were stealing from the dead, dying and injured football fans. They were doing no such thing and were trying to help each other!

    • @chadUCSD
      @chadUCSD Місяць тому +1

      They even made a claim that some had pissed on people, too. It's no wonder people in Liverpool refuse to buy the Sun.
      The Sun (& the old 'News of the World') were two tabloid newspapers that I always refused to buy. The power that Rupert Murdoch and his UK company News Corp have is unbelievable and more than a bit scary. The fact that he can literally influence who people vote for and into government is ridiculous to me. Yet our politicians have to try to keep him/them on side and pander to them and invite them to Downing Street and alike. It's no wonder that his US media company was sued and had to pay out several hundred million $ after the 2020 election that Trump lost cos they propagated, fueled the conspiracy theories and aired people who were quite literally nutters who repeated the lie of a stolen election cos the man they backed (Trump) lost. Newspapers used to print stories based on fact and evidence that supported what they said. Now, they print opinions that are biased in one way or another to fit the narrative they wanna push. It's really no surprise that many (most) people today don't trust legacy media. They've ruined their own businesses and publications in many cases. And what are we left with? Conspiracy theories, bullshit and uneducated opion and unimvestigated assumptions pumped out on TikTok and other social media. And a lot of people believe it too sadly. In the case of The Sun, I can trace their demise back to how they reported Hillsborough, and The News of the World, they died the day they hacked the murdered schoolgirl Millie Dowlers phone and making it seem she was alive bcos her voicemails were being picked up n listened to giving that poor family her friends and the police false hope she was alive. Murdoch, his tabloid rags, and many of those who work(ed) for him like Kelvin McKenzie are total and utter scum!
      (I'm really sorry for that rant, but it all had to be said. As it's all the honest truth!)

My grandparents paid and I think everyone else chipped in a bit. It was the best holidays ever because to get the cost down, we fit as many people as we could so it was my grandparents, my mum dad me and my brother, my mums sister, her husband and 2 boys, my mums brother his wife and son and my grandmas sister and her son. We only paid for activities on one of the holidays (though I think my aunt whos family was better off than us paid for more activities for my cousins) and we only did 2 activities... mum made me do basket weaving with her... but the other one was quadbike riding so that was good
