E - Bike Camper - Trailer Build

- Today me and Peter build a new camping trailer.
We use square steel tubing, 25.4mm x 25.4mm x 1.6mm thick, we needed 6 x 3 meter lengths.
This camping trailer has a 100AH LifeP04 battery with built in BMS, it came with an
accessory panel.
I have a Kings 40 litre fridge/freezer, the battery and fridge were purchased from the
4 Wheel Drive Supa Centre, they always have specials available.
Victron 100/20 Smart Solar Charge Controller, a 3oo watt inverter, 200 watt solar panel.
I sprayed the trailer frame with Rustoleum Matte Black.
Don't ask me what it weighs as I dunno and don't care, hihi.

Great idea using off the shelf box and solar panel looks like a perfect fit. Love it.
Thanx Proffessor, I did the math in regards to costs for me building a box from scratch and it was cheaper and less time intrusive to grab off the shelf. Sometimes I do that as my time is very valuable to me.
Very interesting idea. I was expecting the storage box to somehow convert into a sleeping area while you were explaining the construction of it.
I had a very similar idea using a storage box from a home improvement store but the price is too high and the weight was too much to justify trying to modify and use it for my purpose as a bicycle caravan.
I am currently in the process of building a bicycle Utility Trailer/Caravan and I'm always interested in what others have built.

A fold out tent could be something I build down the track because let’s face it, putting up and Pulling down a tent everyday is painful, hihi. When I priced building my own trailer from scratch it turned out a few hundred dollars cheaper to grab off the shelf.

There is a kit from a place in Canada, called Wike, that sells brackets that would have made assembly much easier. Plus I used aluminum square tubing to save weight. But its interesting to watch your build.

I use Schrader valves on my recumbent and trailers, and they work just fine. I might have to op them off once every month, depending on outside temps. But, because of you, I use a USB Rechargeable air pump, and its the best thing I've ever found. Also the wheels on your trailer should have moved forward, just a tad, to about 1/3rd the way from the back, but not centered. I did that with a trailer I built and its tracks nicely. I like the idea of four wheels though. And I still think your prime mover needs a differential on the rear wheels ;) Stay safe.
I thought about off setting the wheels, as in not directly side by side but couldn’t for the life of me remember why it’s a good idea, but it feels correct. I have saved so many UA-cam links it’s not funny and I have trouble finding them again, hihi. Glad to hear the digital air inflator is making things easier for you mate, I love them too.
