Hey mate, I know right, it was a 5-6 hour trip there and he had to get back, so i guess he thought of evoking Peter Brock, haha.

The E-Bike battery has a maximum charge limit of 4 amps, actually both my e-bike batteries have the same limit threshold! But they never get to that, the most Ive seen going into them is 2 amps. Yes perhaps I have not set it up correctly, however I followed the tutorial to the letter, very interesting how both MPT 7210 controllers are hitting the exact same threshold and then cutting out even though they are two different batteries with different amp hour capacities! The trikes battery is 13 AH and the Quad’s battery is 15 AH.

@@offgridmojo Darn. My detailed reply to didn't show up. Maybe it gets lost when I include a youtube link in it. What I can recall of it: You showed the Voltage open circuit was 28.3V. At the end you said you were getting 8A. that isn't possible. Your solar panels aren't producing 8 Amps. Watts=Volts x Amps. The V max power (will be on the back of the panel or in the specs) will be lower than 28.3V. Assume it is 25V, then the maximum amps you will get will be 4amps. 100W=25V x 4 amps. With step up from the boost and other losses, you will not see 4amps at the battery for charging. If you set 4 amps, than try setting less and see if the controller stays on. Your controller dropping out at 75W shows something is wrong. The controller is rated for at least 300W. That controller also doesn't do true MPPT tracking. Search for this youtube video: How to Program MPT-7210A Boost Solar Charge Controller - Setup Guide by Solar Power Edge In the view of the controller, the panel voltage is set to 26.12V. This has to be less than the V max power. If it is too low, the controller will drop out. You have a problem with the setup or the controller is faulty.

I have since worked out it was the setting for minimum voltage coming in, there is a sweet spot which for me is 2 volts under the what the solar panels are putting out. The only way to find that sweet spot is to start low and bring the minimum charge voltage up at a volt at a time until it stops cutting out! Both my e-bike batteries are 12 volts but they both needed to be set 2 volts under what the panel is putting out. In my next upload I will leave the tutorial link where he goes into great detail about it. Thanx for time and effort mate. 😀

Hiya Rose, yeah Solar is the way to go for now. Very easy to install and easy to maintain.

Not 100 amps, 100 watts! I need a power station for it anyway as sometimes I take that trailer with me camping and need power. Using the solar panel to charge the power station and then from that charging the e-bike battery will give me the best of both worlds.

Ahh, hence why it cut off all the time. It’s fine now that I got the speedo working again. Thanx Megan. 😀

No need for it, it was explained to me that diff’s are over rated and give power to the wheel which is in the air and not the wheel that needs it!

I am planning to build one like it, thanks for your explanation, maybe I will try to make it without diff gear

Yeah that is correct, but it goes in a straight line!

Hi Dave, yeah mate, in Rigzy and in a tent when I have the small trailer. The small trailer is good for the rail trails as I can navigate the chicane/bollards they have in place, can’t do the rail trails in Rigzy, can’t get through them.

I have it on pretty good authority that diff’s are known for giving power to the free wheel and not the drive wheel when needed! Meaning if one wheel is in the air the Diff gives that wheel power and not the wheel that needs it. Also the extra cost and weight and more stress with more things that can break down when I’m in the middle of the bush.

@@offgridmojo I have ridden a Delta recumbent trike that had a Diff on it, and it was pretty cool. No problems and it turned so much nicer. I wish I had pictures of how it was set up. It was really a neat idea. Hope your doing well. Its gotten nice where I live, except for the wind. I've also recently installed a rear view camera system on my bike. I still have the rear view mirrors, but the little screen is in just the right place for me to see. Any ways, take care.

Me back, yeah man… Yes I did think about alloy tubes but me and my friend who made the trailer do not have any experience with alloy welding.. Hole saws sounds like a good idea. Look forward to watching your video James.
