Thank you for making this video for us, I had a super Nintendo sit in my closet for over 15 years as I grew up, and I wanted to try it out and have the same problem. You’re a lifesaver! Thank you again for all your knowledge and putting it out there.
Just took my SNES apart to clean it and it looks brand new in there. The absolute slightest oxidation, but a few swipes and boom it works like new again. Old me is proud of young me for keeping my stuff nice. Thanks for the vid!
I scrubbed my connector with alcohol and seemed to help some. I just used one of the 1up cleaning carts and could not believe what it took off. It had black connector marks on it after using. System works great now.
In my case it didn't work. My contact points are very oxided and can't be cleaned with just alcohol. Should I buy another cartridge reader or is there another part that could be damaged?
Great video Tat! Have done 2 NES thus far but not a SNES. Looks much simpler!!!! Thanks for the DYI!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 BTW green oxidation usually is from water... Down there you have plenty of that with the humidity!
Hi ! You said that 9/10 times this fixes the no signal problem, unfortunately after following all those steps it still doesn't work for me ! No signal, no nothing ! But the power switch does turn on and I ordered new cables. Still doesn't work. Do you have any other solutions for me to try? It used to work perfectly then I stopped using it for like 1 year and now it doesn't work any more. The connections are all clean and not oxydised.... Thanks in advance !
My pin connector won't come off. It has black screw plates unlike the silver ones shown in your video. Do I have a different model where the pin connector isn't supposed to come off? I appreciate any help!
@@julianaramirez7669 It turned out nothing was wrong with my system, just had a bad cable. Try a different cable if you can (the one that connects the system to the TV)
@@afterthought55 how did you know it was a bad cable? My cables look good and I’ve cleaned the pin connectors on 2 different snes’s and neither of them will turn on. 😕 Also the reason your pin connector wouldn’t come off is because later year models were fixed to the motherboard. Most ppl making these videos don’t mention that little bit of info. I have a ‘95 and a ‘93 snes and the ‘95 is fixed to the motherboard ‘93 is removable.
Going to try this out. Pulled my SNES out of a box after years of being tucked away and I'm getting the no signal or a jumbled image at best. Definitely can't hurt to open her up and clean what I can! I'll let ya know the results!
My issue exactly. SNES sat in storage for a number of years, I pulled it out hoping my kids and I could have some classic retro gaming fun, but bam! No signal.
So mine outputs a signal, but it's just a black screen with some faint purple lines Thoughts? Pins are shining and clean, the board looks just fine as well
Some games work perfectly fine and others have a scrambled picture with sound or no picture with sound, everything including games have been thoroughly cleaned. Doesn't matter if using RF or composite cables. Any idea what's going on?
My picture is usually fine but the screen starts to go dark then totally drops out. Then it comes back on after a few seconds. Sometimes as long as 10 seconds. Do you have any ideas what it might be?? Awesome video thanks 😃
I am very new to this. I recently got the Nintendo Cool baby. However when I hook it up to my flat screen TV it says no signal. I've tried replacing the HDMI cord, still says No signal. Can you tell me what could be wrong. I do have the newer one than you are showing in this video. I don't know if that makes a difference or not. When I got this a couple weeks ago, it turned on great, but then it started turning off and the screen started saying no signal. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am totally old school and couldn't wait to play the original Mario Bro, however I can get so far in this game and it cuts off or either it don't even come on. Once again, I truly appreciate any advice you could give me.
Any advice on how to clean the 64 pins on the inside of a SNES 1995 model? The 64 pin is soldered to the board and can't be removed like the earlier models can.
Just take a toothbrush and dip it in isopropyl alcohol and scrub it down for several minutes like you're brushing your teeth. Then, make sure the pins on your cartridge are also cleaned, use a q-tip.
@@TattedCollector Ok, I'll try that again. I didn't that once already. I picked this SNES up at a yardsale and I looks almost like someone spilled something inside of it.
@@TattedCollector I have the same 95 model. I tried a toothbrush as well three different times. It started flickering in and out so a little improvement. Anything else that can be done to access the bottom side or the connection points other than just keep at it? Do I need some other fine brush to get as far down as possible if I can only access from the top?
Thanks for a great video. Helped me half-ways. From no signal, to just booting to good signal but stop after logo is displayed. I wonder what I've done wrong?
Hi, I will try this soon, however I'm still young and my parents will help me later. The issus is that the game have worked after cleaning it ect... For like 1 minute and stopped and now no way to make it work again, with also any game. It did that like 1 or 2 month ago, it worked briefly and no way to make it work again so I'm not sure if this is the same problem?
I'm having an issue with my Snes, when I play Street Fighter Alpha 2. There are music but I can't or don't hear the announcer or Ryu's hadoken sound effect. How much does it cost to fix it?
ok so what about the 10th time out of 10?? I've cleaned so much that I've went through 2 walmart size bottles of 91% IA, and still same video results as before I even broke open the first bottle. I think the pin connector is bad, but not sure if it's the one soldered to the board that went bad or the removable section. BLAH!
I’m getting my SNES to play with the RF cable connection but not with the AV, while in AV mode I’m just getting volume but no video with the same no signal across the screen. My question is would the problem require this same fix?
My issue is not the signal but that it only gives me the black screen with no sound. I tired cleaning the pin connector (not opened) and still nothing with other games. If I try what you did on this video, will that work and fix the problem?
Well I'm out of luck cause I don't have a stupid security bit to do this. It seemed to fire Sunset Riders perfect on the small hdtv and not my Vizio 4k smart tv. All I get is no signal.
The console should preferably be hooked up to a CRT tv. It's going to look horrible on a 4k TV anyway. 90s technology wasn't built for new age televisions. HDTVs will distort the pixels from the games and it will look very pixelated and washed out.
mine shows no signal on composite cable but rf scan tunes into a black screen. Still no sound or video output from the game cartridge. any idea what could be wrong?
His&Hers 66 If the screen is blinking black and white, it could be the 72 pin connector. If it's a solid white, it could be the 72 pin connector or a bad PSU (power supply unit).
True, but that was just used for testing purposes. Now, years later after that video was made (April 2018) all of my retro consoles are hooked up to a Sony Trinitron CRT in my gameroom.

@@TattedCollector But the question still stands, do you have an upscaling solution for the setup in the video? I tried 2 different consoles on my Orion flatscreen TV with both composite and analogue connection and it doesn't detect any signals. And yes, I spent 2 days cleaning one of the consoles and it didn't solve the issue. I keep reading everywhere that modern TVs just don't work with the 240i resolution of the snes.
