Rank 1 Nova makes a HUGE difference. I've been using max rank and constantly running out of mana or unable to refreeze.

One really cool video series to see would be mage pvp guide vs each class at different levels. So like for example levels 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60.

Dude i just got into classic since not playing since wrath, decided to roll a mage so I can get a quick start and earn some cash for whatever class I roll for TBC. I've been looking for a guide for aoe farming that is pretty easy to follow and covers all the nuances. This is it.
Should I workout before or after the AOE grind?
yes , because you can only get decent xp/h when nobody is there aka between 3 and 8 in the morning LUL
@@Chillahhh All the open world is basically unplayable on peak times, mages still have highest xp/h on farming dungeons tho.

Nice vid. Quick question. How do you keep yourself geared as you level? Since you are doing very few if any quests. Is it all from loot gathered from aoe grinding or are you buying upgrades off ah?

Agreed using max perma frost and 3/3 blizzard is needed in classic due to random breakers.

However has anyone else experienced the problem that the slow debuff from Blizzard doesnt apply immediately? The mobs always reach me before my second nova gets off cooldown, because when they break free from nova (even though I'm already casting Blizzard on them) they get to run for one second at normal speed.
But maybe it's because I don't have Arctic Reach yet :/
Hey mate, the slow takes a second or so to apply. This means you need to cast it before nova wears off. Nova has a minimum time of 4 seconds before it can break, meaning you need to be in position before that 4 seconds AND be casting blizz to have the dots ticking incase nova breaks on the 4 seconds.
Another tip is in between your first and second blizz is to run away from the mobs for about a second. This creates just a little more room to finish your second blizz. Nova should be coming off CD about now. Recast it, then run away and repeat.

What do you think about aoe grinding spec where you take at least some points in improved frostbolt and skip frost warding and possibly take Ice shards as well? just to be more versatile and not purely aoe limited.

This is pre Hardcore Xar.
Theres many places where blizzard isn't used in AE Grinding, like soloing ZF Graveyard at lvl 42. You use Cone of Cold more frequently, which is why 2/3 blizzard is used.

I just started dual boxing mages the other day. I hit 23 and i've been working on how i'm going to do all this. i'm starting to get the hang of it but sadly, the farms in the foothills is just a huge gankfest. might have to find a new spot. where are the horde spots?
I dont even know how this is possible in the 20s without frost channeling. I go oom within a nova and 2 blizzards.
You can actually aoegrind at lvl 14, right when you get AE, did that until i got imp blizzard then did as you explain in the video

Sweet guide but if we are only level 30ish now, won't we just be fighting for mob tags with other mages since most people aren't ahead of the level curve like xaryu.
Even abusing layers, seems like a lot of dead time and now they added CD on layer swapping
I agree with the 3/3 improved blizzard. The reason some people DONT do 3/3 and only 2/3 is because in some places its more efficient to Cone Of Cold aoe grind instead of blizzard, so it gives you the best of both worlds, but until level 60, 3/3 imp blizz is much much better

How do you get the actionbar button over the actionbar page up/down. On mine its empty, ps. using the same addons as u.(the one where you have that green thing)

Rank 1: nova and
max ranks: frostbolt, blizzard, flamestrike, coc, ice barrier, ICE armor, int, mana gems and I personally buy fire blast and ae aswell.
Everything else doesn't do much for aoe grinding but might help in pvp situations.
I want shatter spec but you just can't as a dps in a raid you need to be deep frost for the buff or arcane frost or you just a sandbag this is cool spec for world yeab but good luck in a raid when you want gear going to be lacking dps and mana regen from the arcane tree

Just let you know, I am a rogue person transfer to Warrior person, but you make me want to play mage which I don't think I can remotely play near as good as you when you were eleven.
