You can use multiple monitors with a computer that has 4GB of RAM, but you might notice some performance issues, especially if you run resource-intensive applications. Ideally, 8GB of RAM or more is recommended for a smoother experience when using multiple monitors. It helps your system handle the extra load better.
This is crazy to say; however, I will. I just realized I've been watching your videos for help since your "how to use your iPhone as a mic" from 8 years ago. I have used some as guides, and here I am landing on another as I'm contemplating adding my daughter's monitor to my computer since she doesn't use it. Look at you with 3.35M subscribers! I can see from back then that you were not so sure what to do with the channel, having some family and tech together. Continue to have the time of your life, Bud.
Damn ! I needed that , I’ll be changing the location of the different screens on display - I never knew you could do this 😅 thanks Kevin , much love , from RSA 🇿🇦
Thank you for making this short, concise and to the point. I just purchased a second monitor for my desk and didn't realize I needed an HDMI extender to project.
Hi Kevin, great video. But only one thing: not all usb c ports does support extra monitors. The usb c port must support DisplayPort alt mode or Thunderbolt. Otherwise it will not work. Import thing to know!
In an effort to minimise the number of cables I connect to my laptop (saving on wear and tear) I use the USB-C to a dock which has a number of HDMI, Display ports, audio in/out, and USB-A ports. That way I only need to plug one cable into the dock to get all the peripherals I need via the dock. I also disconnect the laptop display when using the 2 x externals. By the way DisplayFusion is a handy application for dual display.
The best answer is to get a monitor with a dock built-in to it. Like Dells P2425he then get the non dock version P2425h and link it to the first screen. This way one usb c cable to your laptop and it charges does dual screen, ethernet and usb peripherals. Such a tidy setup especially with wireless kB/mouse in the back of the screen
One hint, if you are stacking your monitors, drag them on top of each other in the System / Display so you can move the mouse up/down between monitors instead of side by side.
I couldn't work without multiple monitors. I don't think I could ever go back to one. Of course when out and about, e.g. on a plane, I have to only have one, but then I'm usually just killing time on my tablet or phone. I also use the wireless function to add my phone screen to my display, to save me switching between devices.
Simple question from a noob: if I have an HDMI port on the laptop AB’s two available monitors each with HDMI, if I buy a USB-to-HDMI adapter will I be able to connect one of the monitors to the PC using a straight HDMI cable and another one using the HDMI cable on the monitor end, going inside the USB-to-HDMI adapter on the PC end? And would I be able to do extension as well as duplication ? I mean, I’d like to have some content on the PC, some other content on the monitor 1 and some other on the monitor 2
If your computer has decent hardware, multiple monitors shouldn’t slow it down much. But if your graphics card or system resources are already stretched thin, you might notice a bit of a slowdown.
I want to connect desktop monitor to external screen via HDMI connect but when I connect it the second monitor doesn't switch on. What could be that I am doing wrong?
Thanks for you video, I have a older ACER labptop, I do have a HDMI and VGA (PC) port coming off the laptop. Both of monitors are hooked up, but I can't get the laptop to recognize both at the same time. I would like to be able to split my screen to have gmail on one and web browsing on the other. Do I need a 3rd screen, or could I do this with one laptop and 1 external display vs having the laptop and 2 external displays?
What if you have two monitors that have a 240 Hz refresh rate? Are you only limited to what the split extender offers, such as one monitor at 60 Hz in the other monitor at only 30 Hz? Do they make split extenders that can handle a much higher refresh rate?
Any options to use this little gem if my laptop does not support DisplayPort alt mode or Thunderbolt (not seeing either marking on the laptop or port(s). Also, I only have 1 "standard" USB port and 1 USB-C port. I want to be able to extend my display to other 2 monitors.
I have a Lenovo laptop that has USB-C outputs and also a HDMI output. Is it possible to connect 2 separate monitors (one via USB-C and one via HDMI) and then "Extend" across both Monitors?
lets say i have two monitors hooked up to my pc, is there a way to have my work laptop also hooked up to those monitors. So i can turn either one on and both monitors will be connoted.
Is there a version of this splitXtend product that uses an hdmi input instead of usb-c? My laptop has a micro hdmi port, but no usb-c ports (but it does have usb 3.0 ports). Isn't hdmi a better connection method for video than usb-c or usb 3?
My inspiron 17 5767 laptop does not have a USB-C, DisplayPort alt mode or Thunderbolt port. Will any of your options listed work to extend to 2 or 3 monitors? Your help would be appreciated. Thank you!
Ok I’m confused so I got a usb c to hdmi hub so it also has usb a and Ethernet on it but anyway I plugged my 2nd monitor in and it my monitor turned on like it knew there was a display but it didn’t show anything. Is it a problem with the adapter or something else
I have a gaming laptop with a 240Hz refresh rate, but the Splitxtend device seems to only support 30Hz. Will my display monitor still be able to show 240Hz, or will it be limited to 30Hz due to the Splitxtend? Thanks!
I still need help😢I need to connect 2 Dell monitors to a Lenovo Thinkpad for work. I purchased a usb-c docking station dual monitor adapter. Will this allow me to display multiple applications on my monitors and not just mirror the laptop? TIA

What about Anker 553 USB-C Hub, 8-in-1 USB C Dock, Anker 553 USB-C Hub, 8-in-1 USB C Dock, it can mirror or extend and it has additional ports and is much cheaper.
Sorry but the best solution is to get a monitor with: 1 x DisplayPort version 1.4 (HDCP 1.4) 1 x DisplayPort (Out) with MST (HDCP 1.4) This allows you to take a single cable (minDP to DP) from your laptop to monitor1 and then a second DP cable from monitor1 to the next monitor2. I used a SurfaceBook with 2 monitors like this for years.

I am using a thunderbolt hub, that extends my laptop to two uhd screens. Regardless whether it’s an Apple or Windows computer with thunderbolt.
I’ll make sure to send this to my manager who has 25 years work experience and gets paid 4x more than me.
Hi question, can i connect the monitor 1 via hdmi port of the laptop and then for the 2nd monitor via usb type c port?
Is a hub the same thing as a docking station?

@@jacksonmacd Independent on PC. (For Mac it’s more complicated)
This also works well. I believe it's referred to as daisy chaining, but as you mention, your monitor needs to support this (as well as your cable).
