hey thanks for that video. I wonder if there is a way to add a smartTag2 from a distance to my phone. I live in Germany and have a friend in the US who got a brand new SmartTag2, now I like to add it to my phone, but did not find a way how I can do that
As far as I know you can only add it locally. But if your friend adds it to their Samsung account, they can share it with you. The share settings are inside the app
@@TechItBeforeYouWreckIthi, i just bought it thanks to your videos, since i'm new with this...i want to know, i always have my phone with my location, NFC and bluetooth off just for battery saving (unless i'm using it at the moment but when done using i turned off)...do i need to have those features always on (bluetooth, nfc and location)? @rayr.6350 you do not need to keep them on. You can then those features on if/when you need to track the tag nearby. Glad my videos helped!! Thx for watching
@@TechItBeforeYouWreckIt hey, sorry i'm still learning how to use it Lol..but today i went to my brothers huse and its about 20 to 25 min from my house, i open the app just to give it a try and my phone it was showing in the right location (my brother's house at that moment) but the smart tag 2 it was showing in my house and that was not the right location because i installed the smart tag in my car, i did refresh the location inside the app and it was showing in my house (but in black color, normally it has like a green color) do you know why it was showing in my house location in black color when in reality it was in the same location I was (my brothers house)?
Good question! It can be enabled after you lose it. The NFC code basically takes someone to a webpage that you can update at anytime via the app. Which makes sense since many people won't think about it until after it's lost.
Okay, perfect! Yeah, I was wondering how it actually works, because having enabled all the time will probably drain more battery. Thank you for your reply (:
I just bought 2 of these, but I'm thinking of returning them because I just read that Google will be coming out with their own trackers that will work on all Android phones. Have you heard anything about these?
Yeah, nothing official but seems inevitable. They also recently started a partnership with Tile. I still think galaxy smarttags are currently the best option for Android users. I would LOVE to see an option that works with ALL Android phones.
@@TechItBeforeYouWreckIt Thanks. I've been waiting for the Tile Ultra since it has UWB capability, but they have been silent ever since the announcement. I also don't like, with Tile, that you have to pay for some of the features. @@TechItBeforeYouWreckIt I received the SmartTag 2 yesterday. I wanted to test the left behind feature so I left it at home and drove around. First, the location of the tag changed, but that may be because the house across the street has a Samsung phone. However, later it changed to a location 0.5 miles away, which is 120 meters. Unless I'm misunderstanding how that works. Secondly, I did receive a left behind notification, but with no sound. It seems such a silly over sight not giving anyone who finds your tag a clear indication that they need to scan it with their NFC to bring up your details. Sadly the whole theory might be undermined by the fact that if attached to something valuable they wont be looking to notify you!
I put it on my cat to find him when he goes into my neighbor's house, but I put a sticker that says nfc on the tag, though my cat already has a name tag with my number and information on his health

I guess I have to be the one to point this out. You entered a fake phone number, yet you shared your exact home location on the map. Wow, didn't even know about this. Will see what I can find out. Might just be for internal use for Samsung.
Should I keep it on lost mode always? Or when it lost only?
Good question. I don't think it really matters. It's essentially a web page that the NFC tag links to.
Depends entirely on what you're using the smart tag for. Tracking your vehicle? Absolutely tf not. Tracking your dog? 100% yes.
Just wondering if someone else finds your smart tag and factory resets it wouldn't they be able to than use it for themselves?

No, this feature only works with NFC. If the phone doesn't have NFC it won't scan the tag.

Yes, but it will notify the thief eventually. They had to include that notification in smart tags and air tags to avoid people using it for stalking.
