cedric’s mic kick at the drop gave me goosebumps for some reason
Same, had to pause the video and it's still spreading through my body
Like the old days again!!

I saw Mars Volta in 2008. This was the very beginning of smart phones. An audience member in the pit was recording a song. I guess Cedric didn't like the idea of being filmed at the time. Cedric was making gestures at the guy recording.
A few minutes later, Cedric went backstage, came back out with a trash can, and literally threw the trash can at the person filming the show. It was freaking nuts.
LOL that's fucking wild. At this concert there were SOOO people recording the whole show. I just was incredibly grateful to see them live and didn't want to be distracted by pulling out my phone!
greqt tine... me to i saw in the 2009, no one filming just enjoy the concert... now... al this dumb people whit the camera recording all the time.
lmao
back in the days when concerts didnt need to be filmed and guys like that deserved to have a tr can thrown at them. Now, with how much you're paying for the ticket, I better be allowed to professionally record the entire thing if I want lmao with a 4k camcorder and shure mic.
I remember when they played at the MTV VMA latin America, Cedric went to the crowd and yanked the sunglasses of some "artist" that sitting, I think there's a clip on UA-cam of that performance
Cedric sounds great, but can we just take a second here to appreciate what an absolute genius Omar Rodriguez Lopez is!
He is one of the bests of this century
Constantly impressed by all his many works
You're new here huh?
... 😏😏😏 The entire band is an entity.... They are all fucking geniuses 😏😏😏
@@allesrachtsichirgendwannlu1893 New? No😂. i saw the Mars Volta support the chili peppers BEFORE they released Deloused. Seen them on every Uk tour since. And even after that I still think its staggering how talented Omar is
I mean... let's be real. During their hiatus, Omar released around 50 solo albums, while Cedric (presumably) ate around 50 thousand cheeseburgers.
Cedric feels so leveled, so in harmony with himself like never before and this gives him so much feeling in his voice while performing, that I know right now I will attend one of their shows!🙌
Seeing this live was the best experience of my life
Same. Holy shit what a fucking ride.
Bro, I saw TMV 6 times in 2 years during the tour for Amputechture album and up to now I'm still geeking out seeing them even if it's just through youtube
Thats sad
See tool live it’s amazing too
@@TacticalVillain Saw them a couple years ago actually. Another one of my favorite bands.
Cedric sounds amazing. Omar (my crush) is a guitar and songwriting genius. I've been deep diving their old stuff again. God!!! Perfection!
Man, Cedric seems so much more lucid and engaged now he's off the weed. Voice is sounding the best it ever has live.
I love how they mostly played oldies for this tour's setlist, they know what their fans want and they're giving it to us!
I agree that they are giving the fans what they want, but I'm kinda disappointed that they are. The new album is criminally underappreciated. I think the fans might warm up to it if they heard it live. "No Case Gain," "Que Dios Te Maldiga Mi Corazon," and "The Requisition" would be amazing to hear live. I love the fact that they went in a different direction in spite of fans' complaints, but it feels like they are afraid to commit to that on stage.
@@robert743 They at least did do Graveyard Love. I agree with you that the new album is great but being there the set list felt perfect.
@@killerkevin27 Oh, no. My least favorite. lol
I’ve seen Mars Volta in the past, and they always played the newest stuff. Why now are they not playing the newest stuff? This new album is incredible, sure let the part time music fans catch up I guess……but Boo on Volta for not going all in.
This is what I was hoping for, I see them in 3 days
It must feel so good for Eva to be playing the songs she helped write again.
I hope they play some Tremulant songs with her, it would be so awesome!
Didn't Flea do all of the bass on DITC? It sounds drastically different than Tremulant.
@@oxygenpoisoning She was in the band before Flea did those recordings. Listen to Landscape Tantrums, they released early version of the songs officially now :)
Really good to see her back. Also great to see the new line up...amazing. Our friend on the drums is amazing, looking forward to watching her grow. They all sound amazing and Omar’s Mariposa looks/sounds great 👌
@@oxygenpoisoning Flea recorded the bass but Eva wrote most of it
Cedric sounds so good. So happy for TMV 🙌🏾
Cuando un artista lo hace en vivo tal y como se escucha en el estudio son unos cracks ❤❤❤❤❤ QUE GRANDE THE MARS VOLTA Y LA VOZ DE SU VOCALISTA PERFECTA
Saw these guys in 06.. loudest show I’ve ever been to. Seeing them again tonight. Hell yea
Saw them in 07-08 on the Bedlam tour. Loudest concert I’ve ever been to lol
Same thing for me in 05
this audience can sing
And everyone in the crowd knew *every song* too. It was amazing
GREAT video. One of my all-time favorite bands (and I'm 65 : ) Saw them at the Greek Theater in 2003. Man, it's been TOO long. They sound fantastic 🙏
2005 was the greek theater
@@RyanRenteria See what happens when you get old 😂
I was there. I had horrible seats and my buddy mentioned how his aunt knew the sound engineer at the Greek
So I told him to hit her up. I’ll never forget, she said his name was Greg Nelson and to go ask I he could hook us up with Better seats.
We went to the sound engineer spot in the middle of the Greek and spoke to him. Right before the show started, he went backstage and shortly after came back
He said he couldn’t get us backstage passes but he got us out tickets. We were front row for Cassandra Gemini
My face melted off that night. Thanks Greg!
Cedric's voice still has it. Can't wait to see them in Denver.
I never thought it would come back again, the Return to Mars
Goosebumps... it's been so long...
Cant wait. First time finally seeing them this Thursday in new york
Seen them in Europe few times when I was young(er! :D) and of course watched all the available live shows from here. They have never sounded better than in these new videos from 2022
Drummer doesn’t hold a candle to Theodore but ok
@@test_pc_user The drummer poured her fucking heart out into this set and kicked ass 👍 I was amazed watching her to be totally honest.
I didnt have any problem with the drummer... tho I have liked all Mars Volta drummers :D (Pridgen being the favorite)
@@Macabresque ok
Can’t believe it’s been 20 years
glad this is part of the set, they sound better than ever
This night was the most amazing experience of my life! I wanna see them again so much.
saw tmv at the tabernacle in 2005. Frances tour. Insane show.
Man i miss seeing Juan Alderete on bass, i hope he is getting better
Yeah. He's such a great musician.
Seen him with them last time round and he was stunning on bass.
There is an interview with him recently. He has ailments still but it's miracle that he's somewhat normal
@@morrisalanisette9067 yeah man totally, its amazing how fast he started to recover, he's a champ and a hell of a bassist
He’s touring with Manson right now, I believe.
Linda sounds amazing on drums
Siempre pelos de punta con esta canción y por fin veo a alguien de seguridad disfrutando un show no con cara apática
I notice it's a half step lower than the recorded version. Good move on their part for Cedric's vocals, which sound amazing! I do wish they still had a sound manipulator but they do sound better than ever. Thanks for posting!
My head imploded that cedric can still hit those notes, albeit a half step lower but still. Thats a beast of a song to constantly hit those high notes and at his age, even more impressive. The GOATS
Isn't it a whole step lower Man? The same tactics for ATDI reunion
@@alexihr4511 This performance is in Bb minor and the album version is B minor so a half step in this case
@@robosing225 I know! I was worried he wouldn't be able to do it anymore (bought tickets to the Denver show) but he's absolutely slaying it and now I'm looking forward to the show even moreso.
They’ve dropped the key so it’s easier to sing - a much better option, voices natural drop in key with age, and his voice sounds incredible here. The returning and new additions to the band are great too - can’t wait for them to return to the UK!
Lol, as if Omar knows enough about music to do a key change.
@@BarronVonSchnoot not a key change. They just dropped down half a step.
@@jeffseacat6326 oh, so you’re saying they changed the key. Got it.
@@BarronVonSchnoot are you always this insufferable?
@@whateverdope not insufferable. Just being unbearable.
This was such a legendary show…I’ll never forget it. If any of y’all were there I was the guy in the Dolphins jersey
Go Fins!!
That was an GREAT show!!!
Fantastic night! Energy was INSANE
I’m still sore from dancing. Such an incredible performance. Teri was great too!
Eva !!!! Super awesome to see originals that made the sound … Jon would have set it on fire
Feels so emotional to watch Eva playing those songs with the band again... damn.....
Great energy, I love it. Past, present, and future tense!
Gave me chills 😱🥶
I was there! One of the most amazing shows I’ve ever seen 🖤
Crazy night! They were amazing!!!
Seeing them in 3 weeks!!! So fucking stoked!!
Great camera work man. I enjoy the panned shots of the crowd. Good sound too!
Much appreciated, uploading another performance tonight! ❤
Cedric sounding amazing.
yo. that drummer. 🔥
He is good, but TMV had killer drummers than this
@@omarzamudio617 That's a woman actually, Philo Tsoungui.
@@yoyolebatteur an actual woman or a 2022 woman?
@@bbeaup cringe
I wanted to be here so bad
The groove is so nice
happy for this return
Wow. That was electric.
Thank you.
Cedric
Amazing song!
I watched them Philly and also Michigan.
Omg I was mom. Now omg Cedric is dad and
And love and light
New album is absolutely flames 🔥
!@amazing!again!
Fuck I’ve missed hearing them live. I’m hoping they tour the UK too.
RIP Ikey
Loving the security guy with dreds who was getting into it!
Eva still moves exactly like she did back in 2001.
Que pinches ganas de ir a llorar a un concierto de TMV...!!!
I went to the show in Boston last night and it was fucking incredible! It wasn't much different from what you see here. They were even wearing the same clothes lol. They had a different bassist though. They were talking about how he had only a short time to learn all the songs and he kicked ass.
I like how Cedric did sing a wrong notes at 4:55 and then keyboardist turned it in a jazz. cool
Repetition legitimizes
wow his voice sounds amazing, saw them live in 2008 it was so loud
Doesn’t hurt they’re playing the full song a half step down 😐
They sound so fucking good
Seeing them in 3 days
Que chido que traen a Marcel!!!
Fuck. Yes.
I'm so pumped for this.
Great crowd!
Saw them with SOAD a really long time ago
i think Ced struggled with falsetto in live performance. i'd love to hear the absolute power he'd release in drop C or B standard. i think he's secretly a tenor or baritone.
It's no secret lol. He always destroys his voice on tour unless they tune the songs down.
Yes Cedric. Ur a dad yes
Love you baby friend
I love how proper Omar looks
When I was listening to this when it came out, I never thought that someday it’d be played at a concert in the future like a Kenny Chesney sign-a-long.
I know. Cedric here we go baby boy
Puedo morir de puto amooorrrrrrrr 🤯😍
Cedric understood me.
I didn't wanna marry Cedric. But he understood his wife..
His girl. Mom.
I'm so honored that Cedric is what me as mom tried but put less than they don't even expect Yana loves music
I'll never know you'll never know.
I went everywhere to be there Mars Volta Cedric
That mic kick, tho.
It’s so weird seeing Omar and Cedric so stationery in comparison to how they used to be..I know they’re obviously a lot older now but I just can’t get used to it…in my head they’re still going nuts in ATDI
John theodore and Juan Alderete they were the best for this formation...
what a pity that in those gigs they were not...
Fantastic video! I missed out on getting tickets to their show near me. So this is as good as i can get. Anyone know who is on keys and drums?
Leo Genovese and drummer Linda-Philomène Tsoungui
Как могло пройти 20 лет с тех пор?????
You know my friend Cedric
Total. Hace falta una grabación desde el mixer. No me gusta escucharlos así
What kind of guitar is Omar playing? Some fender something?
Ernie Ball Mariposa, his signature
Cedric sounds amazing. I guess that’s what happens when you’re not losing your breath halfway through the performance because you’re jumping around and smoking $1000 worth of weed a week
Miss those old good years
So jealous of anybody who saw them with Eva, the still crushed it in Philly but man..
multiple hundreds $, 3 days after firefly, that was a hard no from me. Hopefully next time they dont come a few wks after dropped $160 on another show and dont have tarded ticket prices/play a better venue than met. but they're WB, so its always going to be an azzy venue.
Was this at the Masquerade heaven side?
@@LeeArttgry The Tabernacle, one of the best venues in AtlantA!
Nice to see these guys giving a nice mature performance. They always seemed like a sloppy mess in the early 2000's which was too bad for having such a great album and such great songs. I get the whole passion and showmanship thing, but this is just way better. I applaud tuning songs down to stay in key.
Dónde está Juan Alderete!!!!!!!!
I had trigger moments Cedric
Ask John frusciante and Omar... Cedric.
Me mom music still nothing matters to anyone I'm Yana
Cedric. I feel like ur awesome papa
Please tell me they have been playing Black Light Shine and Tourmaline.
Yes, they played blacklight shine, but only on some shows.. But tourmaline is not being played in this tour apparently
@@skyhammer685 Thanks! Maybe I'll get lucky if I attend.
Who’s in the band here besides ced and Omar?
Cedric posted them on his insta
Eva, Leo, Marcel, and Philo.
Who is the new girl?
I miss the brute force power and chaos of at the drive in, but this is also great for different reasons. Relationship of Command is one of the greatest records of all time.
Shame the guitar mix was so low.
Cedric
Cedric fought s guy in asheville
Interesting choice to mute the guitar for most of the song.
Who is the drummer?
Linda-Philomène Tsoungui
They need do nothing at all 😏😏😏😏 thats how strong the fan base is.
I've always loved their live, punk energy and "now it's lost". Cedric's vocal is still good, but the energy is just no longer there compared to their older performances. Just listen to Electric Ballroom performance of the song. I think it's the drummer issue. She gives the whole a more mellow and calm tone, which is not bad, but not what it used to be before.
I mean...there is a difference between being 45 and 25 bud
Can't even hear the guitar
why do you write Atlanta that way
For you inquisitive comment 👍
@@nikonAder ok but i asked a question lmao
Where has this TMV been the whole band’s career? They never sounded this good.
Cedric has never sounded this confident singing this material live, and that makes a world of difference. Band is amazing as always, and I think they have a cleaner mix these days which also helps.
I miss Cedric and Omar running around like rabbits. 😅. Sounds good tho.
