I also noticed that the katanas are somewhat fast and have a pretty decent reach and i didn't have to lvl up too much to get to do decent damage. So stripped bare naked, hollowed with just a katana i defeated the boss and it was so glorious. I never looked back and i couldn't use a shield again.

I have to know what that pokemon remix you used for Artorias is though, because wow.
It's takes almost the same amount of time to hit someone twice with the shield as it does to use the laser frisbee. And a double-hit does more damage, and retains the shield's protective abilities. And that doesn't reduce durability. There is literally no reason beyond 'the fancy' to use that weapon art...
Gonna watch this later I just wanted to pop in to give you props on another challenge and good job on the entertaining vids Your underrated so keep it up until you get the audience you deserve
Challenge idea: a sort of dark souls nuzlocke. Rules: If you die, all the equipment (except for rings) you have equipped, no firebombs (don’t kill me) or other damaging items that can be used and have no durability, however all other items, weapons, shields, spells, pyromancies and armour are allowed. If you are using a bow/crossbow you can either get rid of the ammo you were using or not, it’s your choice. Any soulsbourne games are allowed to be played, or you can go for Salt and Sanctuary, Monster Hunter, or any other game you see fit to this challenge. Anyways, even if you don’t decide to do this challenge, I love your content and the dedication you show to it, so too the moon my guy, hope I can see you get to 1 mill (cause you WILL!!!) - Good luck, Kyenodos.
Yeah that be hard, but there's no way to set equipment durability to 0 . Therefore you could take it off but it wouldn't cost the souls it would really cost at 0% . Would need to modify the game engine to break gear upon death like the ring of sacrifice and that would require source code .

Funnily enough, the last play through I had the 4 kings kept spamming their homing projectiles to the point where I'd just have to eat them in order to get a hit in. CRS + 2 handing it is pretty amazing for eating those attacks, helped keep me sanity in check.
If too many spawn, I guess that might happen, but at close range they melee or try their grab that steals humanity if you have or kills instantly if you don't . 4 is actually the minimum number of kings that spawn, but he doesn't gain hp for spawning more than 4 .
I will say one thing about the sheild, its great for suplimenting the durability of other weapon art weapons like the moonlight greatsword and golem axe. You can hack away at a badie's health with your right hand and finish off with your left

I thought crystal ring shield meant it was like crystal weapons and couldn't be repaired. Which would be awful for a weapon with a special attack like this obviously.
5:20 She's basically the only one with a happy life. And her moss will keep her from going hollow untill the water stops flowing, Which, considering Lordran is trapped eternally in a state beyond time, should be forever, or at least many thousands of years. She is the joy in the darkness.
I love you videos. The conversational style and edits never fail to amuse me! For the record, I'm one of the few who have gotten legit use out of the shield! It actually did some work for me the first time I ever fought Gwyndolin because I was lacking in magic defence otherwise.
I have to know what that pokemon remix you used for Artorias is though, because wow.
Link is in the description! The remix is by Button Masher, he's got lots of other remixes too!
@@TheBacklogs I missed that like a doofus, thanks for pointing it out. And double thanks for taking the time to reply!
Very impressive work, love the MB and the shield, the boss weapons in this game are so much fun. Serious props for seeing it through to the end!
It's takes almost the same amount of time to hit someone twice with the shield as it does to use the laser frisbee. And a double-hit does more damage, and retains the shield's protective abilities. And that doesn't reduce durability.
There is literally no reason beyond 'the fancy' to use that weapon art...
range?
@@mcrarburger Use a bow, then you can used range damage without losing your weapon haha
@@senseweaver01 I thought you were talking about the run lol
yeah theres no reason to use this in real gameplay ever
@@mcrarburger Oh, no haha, the run at least has entertainment value :P
It used to scale with main weapon damage, but they completely nerfed it.
let’s go another ultra man enjoyer. always loved watching it as a kid. my favorite ultra men are probably the og ultra man, zero, and nexus
also hikari is cool
Gonna watch this later
I just wanted to pop in to give you props on another challenge and good job on the entertaining vids
Your underrated so keep it up until you get the audience you deserve
Never knew this weapon existed bruh. Reminds me of when I first found out that the multi fire crossbow existed after like 4 play throughs
The what
@@kanzkat420 I assume they're talking about the Avelyn.
Yee
This video just got a jokingly derisive shoutout in the "release day version of Dark Souls" from Mr Metagross.
So I came back and rewatched and this is as fun as I remembered seeing it a year ago. Thanks for all the joy, Lemon.
Challenge runs like this have actually inspired me to start working on a challenge run video myself. Let’s just hope ill pull through lol
Running back through Lemon's stuff, because I love his videos, and.. I am not good enough at the souls game to do challenge runs. The humor and patience is great.
That being said. Everytime i watch this, that painting guardian falling to their death after being spared and lemon's little "...huh" always makes me laugh. Every. Time.
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite channels! Keep up the awesome work ❤️
Something I love about scrolling through my recommended is just finding extremely talented small youtubers like lemon. Gives me hope for this platform
If you were allowing spells, you should have grabbed the repair sorcery.
i admire your persistence and sheer will to pull off this video. Your skill is also amazing, but your perseverance outshines everything else!
Ty for taking so much work and effort in making this ♥
Always great to see more content from you! If you could somehow have gotten past Artorias, do you think you could have done Manus?
More than likely. His attacks have a lot more delay after they finish. Kalameet is probably a similar story.
@@TheBacklogs I feel like Kalameet and Manus have too much magic resistance. You should beat Artorias regularly and then take them on with the CRS, I'm curious how much damage it does to them.
4:35 i was taking a nap and you activated my flight or fight responses with that song
i love that game
I remember making this once. Was fun to use.
--I scrolled down specifically to see if you listed it, and so many people don't. Thank you for both crediting the song and finding me some more fun music to enjoy! Cheers.
If you like it then you shoulda put a ring on it.
I actually used this as the ranged option for a strength build
1:37 I got real confused
"It's gonna be one of those runs isn't it?" with the Hotline Miami music emerging from the background made me watch the rest of your content.
It's a little thing, but saying they and them for Gwyndolin is really cool. It's minor and probably unecessary, but it means a lot. Thanks for the wonderful content ❤️
Thanks for playing music from the best zelda game, TWILIGHT PRINCESS. It brought back some memories from my childhood and put a smile on my face. It almost made me tear up remembering how easy childhood actually is and wishing i werent an adult anymore
You could try a run where your only weapon is a dragonhead stone you get from the everlasting dragon covenant
I'd say "Dragon Mode" only. Claw slaps and roar are also allowed, but no armor, because dragon
Ultraman if I'm thinking correctly is one helluva throwback.
I love that people find new ways to punish themselves playing DS... Well done! I couldn't do it.
Thank you youtube for recommending me this video those few years ago so I could find this wonderful channel!
time to listen to this while playing league of legends, pain and pain awe yeah
Is that some goddamn BUGDOM music in the middle? ...Nice
I want my fan card.
Before even starting, I remember the Crystal Ring Shield before it was patched and paired alongside the MLGS. It would do like 1000+ damage with its weapon art. It was bonkers but very fun.
Love this run! Kinda makes me feel like doing some challange run again!
Just some side note, technically first titanite demon can be the one in catacombs near coffin that takes You to Nito
Huh. Good point! Im sure I'll need that advice in the future!
Your comedy style is killer. Absolutely love it! Subscription unlocked.
I only started using this weapon recently because I was going for every achievement on a recent playthrough, and despite better logic, used this shield instead of good ol Grass Crest.
Every time I used its special attack, I’d always shout “Destructo Disc!”, only to be disappointed by the damage.
Guess I know what it’s like to be Krillin now.
I subbed earlier this week and I just want to say I really love the personality and editing style you use. Keep up the good work, I’m glad to have found your corner of the internet
you know? for some reason i like when artorias just win in this challenges
I loved that Ultraman reference, grew up watching the original series and rarely do I see any english speaking people talk about it outside forums, let alone a good youtuber, props bro! Good video btw
Also did you hear about the new movie Hideaki Anno made? Apparently its great
This shield prior to being nerfed was actually pretty amazing
6:10 IS THAT TAL TAL HEIGHTS??? What an absolute gamer, I'm sold.
Where is my membership card?
Idk man
3:35 "The first and only titanite demon we can access right now."
**sad catacomb titanite demon noises**
How’s the Ds3 firebombs only run going
*internal screaming intensifies*
Sweet, I'd been meaning to re-up my membership! Thanks for mailing me the card!
Looks at video wondering why I’ve never heard of this shield. “Needs moonlight butterfly soul”. Yup that’s why.
I'm glad my knowledge of long running tokusatsu shows makes me a real Dark Souls fan. But that's honestly a relief, I figured I'd have to actually be good at the games for that.
Coming back to this when this was my first video of your that I watched is really cool to see. Thank you for continuing these challenge runs lemon
Video starts: *Hey, It's me Lemon, welcome to The Backlogs.*
*"Visible happiness each time"* jokes aside you're doin great man, love you (no homo)
Fun fact, back in the day when ds1 just released I was struggling so hard against O&S and my first kill literally came from me spamming this stupid shield until it broke. I almost never use the damn thing but it does have a special place in my heart
Funny that you mentioned Gwynn's grabbing attack.
I had serious trouble with Gwynn. So much that I stopped playing for a bit, twice.
But after a while i found that sweet spot.
Just pouting your chest enough to make irresistible to Gwynn's hollowed fingers.
And then it was just a fun game of luring it out, stepping just out of range, and punishing Gwynn.
I don't consider it a clean victory, but it's still a cleaner victory than those parry gods claim to call their master
10:09 That is one tenacious Painting Guardian right there. Or their will to live had just totally fallen off.
Welp im happy this was in my recommend lol i was just thinking "man i never made a build with the moonlight greatsword and the captain america shield i should really get that done" you saved me some time.
All the AotA bosses have such ridiculous magic defense, I absolutely can't fault you for bailing on the DLC
man I just found your channel recently and I gotta say these are some of the best soulsborne challenge runs I've ever seen, the commentary is informative but still funny and feels personable, and the runs themselves are very entertaining. looking forward to more great content. Also just wondering, think you'd ever do an elder ring challenge run?? Lots of untapped potential right now since it's still relatively new
I like the Snowpeak Ruins music from Twilight Princess in the beginning
2:50 that was like a frame or 2 from death before it cut lmao
Never expected a yatuzaki reference in a DS video. Great job, u made my day.
Your writing and delivery is so killer man, lovelovelove these videos :)
Also - Bowser's Inside Story music instantly took me back to grade school, thx for the inclusion 🙏
The "High five!" *SMASH* from Stray Demon got me good! xD
Lord this was my first exposure to you, it's not even that old and I'm already nostalgic for it wtf
This video will hit 1000000 views soon. It’s well deserved for putting yourself through this hell
12:36 crab security
Doesnt matter where I go, I cant escape the fantastic soundtrack of the sonic games. I swear every good youtuber uses sonic music
12:00 it’s a small thing but I love the backflip animation if you two hand block a big attack like Nito’s blast or Nameless king smites
M.O.O.N Crystals in the background as music. Nice touch
He really did it with puns this video
"Oh CRAB , security!"
LOVE the hotline miami music in the background
I will say one thing about the sheild, its great for suplimenting the durability of other weapon art weapons like the moonlight greatsword and golem axe. You can hack away at a badie's health with your right hand and finish off with your left
This video is so damn relatable for anyone who has ever done a challenge run. Bless the lemon.
Just found this channel, imagine my shock when I hear "Hey, it's Lemon" when I go by Lemon almost everywhere. Fucked me up for a second.
Used this as my secondary when the remaster first dropped on my low level magic twink. Very fun stuff.
