He has already said that company tax needs to drop more and the tax cuts he did give to lower incomes stop at end of this year. (but he made the corporate tax cuts permanent). Biden has made some noises about keeping the tax rates down but hasnt committed to it. He's wasting his time suggesting it, with the current House of MAGAs but no doubt hoping after the election, Dems will control; both House and Senate.

Additionally companies like streaming services are trying to squeeze even more money out of already poorer people because we let them do it. 2 IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER:
1. Trump introduced a 25% tariff on all imported steel in 2019 which resulted in over 75,000 Americans losing our manufacturing jobs!
2. Costs of groceries & such are still inflated right now due to corporate greed, not the necessity for items to be priced that high! All of these companies realized that consumers got used to paying the inflated prices after their cost came down & they decided that they liked all the extra money!!

China used to dump millions of tons of steel into the market and then pull them back out; making the steel market very volatile.
BTW. China did not try it again while real leadership was in power.

There was a global pandemic and a current war in Ukraine that caused these same issues in every country but you have to ask yourself why America's recover is better than every other Western economy and do you really think Trump would have handled the situation any better? Trump ballooned the national debt and oversaw deficit increases from 2016-2019 (pre-covid years). Can you name one specific POLICY that Trump has put forward that you think will do better than what Biden has achieved so far and do you have any figures to back it up?
Here's an idea: return to the Eisenhower era income tax rates. Amazingly, companies would spend money on employees & the infrastructure of the business. This was how we got a middle class.

There should be a sliding scale. The more money you make the more taxes you pay. Then everyone would be taxed evenly, according to income.
That's how it already is. Whatever money you make in a certain tax bracket is taxed at that %. The next chunk at the next %, and so on. Example: The top $ for bracket 1 at 10% is, say, $1000 and the top $ for bracket 2 at 15% is $2000. If I make $1200, I pay 10% on $1000 and 15% on the remaining $200.

New Toyotas, Hondas and Volkswagens sold in the U.S. are typically built by American workers who work in factories located in the U.S.
If there are vehicles imported in the U.S. because a vehicle brand has not yet gotten with the program to hire Americans to build the vehicles in the United States when those vehicles will typically spend their lifespans driving around the U.S., maybe a stiff tariff on their imported vehicles is just the thing needed to remind those vehicle brands what it takes to be competitive in the United States vehicle market.

Then they have less money to spend on what ever you do or sell for a living

I lost my job at an aluminum foundry not long after Trump put tariffs on aluminum and steel. We were casting engine blocks for China GM and they cancelled all orders over night after Trump made that announcement. The plant shut down shortly after.

Many (most?) Americans never experienced inflation like that. It had been about 40 years. We’d been spoiled with average inflation under 2% for decades. Normal inflation for a growing economy used to be around 4%.
Adding a tax on all imports will probably (nay, definitely) raise prices on domestic goods because domestic producers will raise their prices to just under the 10% so they can still say their stuff is cheaper and still get more money. It's insanity.

Remember the tariffs placed against a number of imported goods from China? In the big picture of things, prices went up, not by a lot but they did. It hurt a number of American farmers and some of the fishing industry. This caused food prices to go up.

The cost of living index made by the US government excludes prices of fuel and food, the two most critical things we need to be alive. The excuse is that the price changes so much they need to overlook it. Yet I notice a 10-20% price increase EVERY year in those categories.
We live in an era were mass production has reduced the costs of producing good to very low levels, yet the prices are going up. Why? Check corporate greed as the answer

@@rick419 i agree, i was responding to the poster who claimed his taxes got raised, when in reality they finally put a limit ($10k - previously unlimited) on the mortgage tax deduction and state and local tax deduction. Some of these people were able to write off $40-50K in property taxes and $10s of thousands of dollars in mortgage deductions.

Okay, random Kiwi/Aussie anecdote. A Kiwi friend of mine was on a tour in Turkey. He wanted to take a day trip down to the Dardanelles and Gallipoli. The rest of the tour party were Aussies. 6:00 okay, I call BS on this one. I drive an Acura, considered to be a luxury line and my car brand new last year was $35k sticker price BEFORE I negotiated about $7k off the top. A brand new Corolla that gets 35 miles to the gallon is about $23k sticker price. What the heck kind of cars do these economists think people are driving? And also, if you're struggling with the price of groceries and you're driving an almost $50k car, you seriously need to rethink your spending habits
