We love you and respect your strength, courage and diversity. However, we scratch our heads and worry about the possibility of Trump becoming President again.. Please..just don't vote for him..from a friend down under
I definitely will not vote for Trump, my concern is the voter suppression that’s going on in many states that may hinder someone else from voting and of course, those that choose not to vote.
Believe me, as a US citizen, I do not comprehend how this orange circus has come so far. When I talk to Trumpers, they all spew the same rhetoric. This country is so divided, and the Trumpers are so firm in their beliefs, often to the point of spewing hateful comments to people they once considered friends. People are no longer speaking with civility and no longer associating with people from the other side. Even families are divided. It’s profoundly embarrassing and disappointing.
The majority of us will NOT vote for him but unfortunately in our presidential election system, you can lose the popular vote and win the Electoral College vote (which is the states electing the president not the people) In 2016 Hillary Clinton won the popular vote but lost the EC so Trump got in. And we were stuck with him for 4 years…. Way back in 2000 Gore won the popular vote but W Bush won the EC vote so we were stuck with him for 8 years. I’m voting Biden in November 2024 just like I did in 2020…. I hope Biden wins again despite his age.
I taught middle school English and I always taught this… I had to buy the envelopes because the the school was too cheap to provide them. I thought it was and still think it’s an important skill even if it doesn’t appear on the state tests.
My sis teaches English as a second language. She had her students fill out an envelope addressed to themselves, she took them home & put cards in them, then mailed them off. Hope she didn’t confuse them.
It’s great you taught this, but, honestly, parents need to take responsibility. This isn’t physics, chemistry, mathematics, etc. There’s no excuse for parents not teaching basic life skills.

@@tsubadaikhan6332 Can you start up a crank handle car? Or saddle a horse? Do you know how to hand hem a dress with a blind stitch? Now, you might know how to do some of these things, and all of them still exist, but these aren't skills most people use anymore because we have newer tech that does all of it for us. Or in the case of the horse, you just drive your automatic car instead and skip the horse altogether. Most young people don't know how to address an envelope because they don't need to know it. They email grandma, they pay bills online, they ship gifts directly from Etsy or Amazon to the recipient. If you don't feel shame for not knowing how to saddle a horse, we shouldn't shame young people for not knowing how to address an envelope.
I work for the post office. We got a letter the other day that had the recipient’s address on one side and the sender’s address in the same place on the opposite side. 🤦♀️
What’s the story? That’s exactly how most of the world addresses their envelopes. Recipient on the front with the stamp, sender address on the back. Is this yet one more thing where the US has decided to be “different”?
ive been wondering the same thing, lock him up and throw away the key, unless hes finding more loopholes to keep himself out or delaying, but at this point im just hoping the next big mac will take it's toll
Omg... the letter bit made me call my 20 year old to make sure he knew how to send one correctly. That is insane... bless the self confident Harvard College child at the end... that was eye opening and sad. 😅
Package shrinking started around 1980. Before deceptive packaging started coffee used to come in metal (useful) cans that were 3 pounds or 1 pound. Ice cream came in 1 gallon plastic pails, or half gallon cartons or 1 quart cartons. When shrinking started, marketers were careful to keep the shape of containers the same. They just shrunk the size a little at a time.
How much of the weight of a bag of Lay's chip is air? Do they weigh it before putting it in the bag or after it's sealed? (Or preset a smaller amount on the machine) It just had me think. Being such mass production, it should be relatively cheap to make bag of chips. As far as i remember, their bag of chips didn't use to hage that much air. I'm not sure why companies need to cheat people out of a proper amount. McDonald's too, you know has been shirking the size of their burgers, at least the buns anyway, bread is relatively inexpensive, should not be downsizing on that, as well as the processed meat and easily attainable ingredients (which i wouldn't be surprised if they changed to cheaper ingredients too) to make the sandwiches. Companies are making every effort to trick you while profiting big bucks for themselves and shareholders, while the consumers that make them money suffer; it's sad...
I bought Oreos yesterday and there two different packages of the same Oreo type sane size but with some some the bag was filled with air and the others the bag was normal but you could tell the new ones from the old as they lost over two ounces in weight but no change in price. Shrinkflation is real and has been going on for years and started with the liquor companies changing over to the metric system and replacing quarts with liters therfore less product at the same price. The president has nothing to do with it!
Please Jimmy, please post a video of the segment which young people trying to address an envelope on You-Tube so I can share it on FB with all my family and friends with kids. A few years ago one of my teenage grandsons tried to send a letter to me, but I never receive any of his letters. So I questioned him to confirm he was sending it to the correct address. Indeed, he had the correct address, etc. Then I suggested he add the word "TO" in front of my name, just to ensure the USPS worker might be able to figure it out. Sure enough, the letter finally arrived and the front of the envelope had all the correct information, it was just all in the wrong places on the envelope. Only the stamp was in the right spot. This segment of your April 4th show was spot on! Thank you. Love you and your show.
And working in slaughter houses, cleaning the rich men's bathrooms... Look what happened in the UK. The country is suffering badly. Farmers had to cull cattle, expensive meat has to be imported from China. No Truck drivers... Two examples only.

Crazy he always gets away with everything. Can delay court rulings for years, not pay contractors, ignore gag orders......it's never ending for a not so smart guy that was just rich. And he ruins every business he touches....
Actually, way back when...the return address used to be written on the back of the envelope, on the flap. During my childhood, the return address became standard to write in the top left corner.
When I grew up in the '60s, we were taught either the upper left across from the stamp, or on the back flap was ok, but upper left was easier for the post office. That was just about when "Mr. Zip" and zip codes were introduced! ;)
On the flap for return address is still done in NZ. But I can see top left being useful as I will rewrite an address from the back flap to the top left corner if I have to mark it return to sender.
I'm sorely disappointed but not surprised....... kids think all they need is an "app" for everything today. Be glad that some students still have an interest in a library - I wouldn't be surprised if kids today asked if there was an "app" for it. Yes, .... it is bad.
in their defense, I'm 34 and haven't mailed a letter in at least half my life. I honestly can't remember when, but it was probably when I was submitting college/scholarship applications in 2007-2008. if I were any of those guys on Hollywood Blvd I don't know if I would have been able to remember which corner was the return address (mine) and which corner was the stamp, but I definitely remembered that the middle is the recipient address.
@@tbarry4990 Hmmm...and why would they think that? Is it because - that's the case in most situations? The kids didn't come up with the apps that I'm made to use every day - the generation above them did. The kids didn't invent the smart appliances - the generation above them did. The kids didn't invent computer programs that print and address envelopes for you - the older generation did. Look to their parents.

My dear American friends..I am an Australian but have lived in your country and visited many times, albeit in saner times. Australians have a close bond with you guys and we have stood side by side with you in every conflict you have been involved with. We love you and respect your strength, courage and diversity. However, we scratch our heads and worry about the possibility of Trump becoming President again.. Please..just don't vote for him..from a friend down under
I’m a Canadian and have to agree with your assessment. Please don’t vote for Trump.
I definitely will not vote for Trump, my concern is the voter suppression that’s going on in many states that may hinder someone else from voting and of course, those that choose not to vote.
I completely agree with you regarding Trump. But... You guys gave the world Rupert Murdoch. Just saying.
The majority of us will NOT vote for him but unfortunately in our presidential election system, you can lose the popular vote and win the Electoral College vote (which is the states electing the president not the people)
In 2016 Hillary Clinton won the popular vote but lost the EC so Trump got in.

And for the record, the size of food items has been shrinking for years.
Interesting info, thanks for sharing. Hopefully Newt Gingrich will accumulate some factual information before he goes on his next hate rampage.

Zip" and zip codes were introduced! ;)
Back of the envelope was reserved for mailing cards, and even then was not the standard.
That's how we do it in Europe.
On the flap for return address is still done in NZ. But I can see top left being useful as I will rewrite an address from the back flap to the top left corner if I have to mark it return to sender.
