Also, everyone rolls a 1 until the protagonist finds out he’s a bad father (some bad writers call this adversity and think that having adversity is the same as character growth) then the monsters all start rolling the 1s.

This Film was riddled with Plot Holes, even regarding the Time-Travel-Mechanic itself.
But what really got me to screaming at the Movie was that they got all depressed because they had the Queen-Poison but could not deliver the massproduced Quantitys to the Future cause the Future-Portal was Brokey-Broke.
      WTF.
      WTF.
      WTF.
They are all whiny about not being able to get the Poison to Humanity BUT THEY ARE HUMANITY!!
What the fluffy fluff-puff are they thinking?!!?
Them having the Queen-Posion IS STILL A GOOD THING!!
They apparently forgot that they themselves are Humanity, which means: Biggest DUH in History.

@@slevinchannel7589 Well personally I think that point is being blown out a bit more than necessary. See, it was Dan of whatever Chris Pratt’s character was, idea to send it to the future. When future Dans daughter was working on the poison it was always hers and presumably most of the war efforts desire for him to simply produce it and kill em before it even happened. What’s super dumbassery is that when he told military lady what that vial was when Dan woke up and he actually let it go (which we don’t know when this happened) that she didn’t tell the govt and the govt didn’t go ape shit with taxpayer money producing that poison. Anyone with 2 brain cells should realize that sending it back to the future was never necessary about 12 seconds after Dan said that.
Now for the part that REALLY pissed me off.
When they did the injections on the ship, why in the ever loving fuck did Dan not go straight for the queen WHO WAS IN A OBVIOUSLY LARGER POD. Obviously the real reason is the plot demanded it but damn in cannon that’s a stupid ass move. I mean ffs the fact it even killed the other white spikes there didn’t prove a damn thing about future daughter being right because it ALREADY KILLED MALES. Furthermore do you really expect me to believe 2 people planted explosives in the right place in as little time as they had to make the whole ship go boom and actually kill the rest of those bastards? For some race that somehow crippled humanity in three years they sure where susceptible to being blown the fuck up by conventional means.

WHY are they so durable though? It just doesn't make sense for an implied engineered animal like this to just shrug off piercing bullets of that caliber without some mumbo jumbo forcefield or something.
If their hides are that effective, they should harvest them and craft armor and make weapons specifically to counter alien threats like it.
How Weapons development should work but nope. Making them easier to kill doesnt minimize the threat, lowballing human's gift of tool making and advancement just makes the aliens look bad.

Yeah, it was executed fairly well, it's a good action flick with a fun and interesting premise, but it lacks polish. Technically, that's kind of how most action flicks are anyway, especially sci-fi ones (the CGI is often weird and flaky if you look close), but this one could have used a few people dedicated to closing plotholes in the writing.
Still a fun film. I saw a preview for it while watching something else on Amazon and decided the concept was good enough to watch, plus it's Chris Pratt (who, I'll be honest, doesn't have the acting chops to really sell the serious roles; even if he did fine in the film overall), and I don't regret it. Polar bears don't reproduce at the same rate, swim in the same manner, run nor swim at the same speed, have the same level of stamina, climb flat walls, do not predict attacks nor have armor on their back that they can quickly use whenever they notice that they are being attacked, fly, climb, shoot out spikes with high accuracy, hunt and consume literally everything from fish to cats to dogs to horses to humans, have even half as many limbs that are used for attacking, one polar bear running at top speed into a Humvee doesn't cause it to flip over several times, nor can they f*cking fly bro 😂😂
That part of the plot that had holes wasn't the creature itself, cause an animal like that if given 2 years to reproduce without being bothered can definitely throw off the ecosystem of an entire continent quickly, the holes were in them not simply saying "Okay, let's spend these next 30 years trying to figure out where they come from and do research on incendiary weapons or bullets that are made from the armor that's on their backs, and also station 100,000 soldiers from different armies within the 100 mile radius that we know that they came from" etc etc

I especially took Polar bears as example cause theyre the biggest carnivorous Land animal. I didnt choose them Just cause theyre White. Same Specs as the White spikes. Probably even a great amount heavier than a White Spike.
And even when the White spikes have Armor plates on the Back, you can easily kill them with an assault rifle, grenades, Explosives, Blunt force Trauma etc.

@@nitro8529 sorry for the wrong word, they can glide* as shown in the movie, is that better man? Bears can't glide just yet right? It's like you made a comparison without thinking any factors through and just want to stick to it now lol
They also climbed up the last military base that is shown in the movie, or was that military base not a flat wall but actually slanted?
Polar bears CAN theoretically eat anything & everything just like humans can and yet we humans don't rampage around a bush eating every lizard or frog that we see in public when we're hungry while traveling home from work, correct? Polar bears do not eat everything for pretty obvious reasons like not being capable of traveling to New York City nor Egypt nor being able to survive different temperatures and understanding how to conserve food, while White Spikes can travel anywhere & will eat everything, I'm sure you can tell the differences there. Polar bears will also not run 300 ft away to look for food just because they hear a pebble drop on the ground, nor can polar bears use a high ground when hunting
You didn't break down speed differences for both land and water, nor reproduction rates, nor bears having much more cumbersome & almost scripted movement when they are fighting other bears which the spikes do not have as they react much faster, nor them being able to communicate against prey/predators through pheromones and cries, nor polar bears only using 2 limbs plus their mouth as a weapon unless you have a video recording of polar bears using their hind legs for attacking like a character from Kung Fu Panda lol
White Spikes were shown using all 4 limbs plus their tentacles plus spikes plus attack in groups while polar bears do not which would be what makes the difference in attacking helicopters and other vehicles, the only land vehicle that would be formidable would be a tank as it would be much harder to flip over but a regular Humvee and a helicopter would get knocked over or knocked down.
Your entire comparison relies on removing the fact that they were allowed to grow their population for several years before coming into contact with a human who was able to alert others of their existence
10,000 of these can definitely decimate a village or town or outpost in the mountains of Russia in minutes before others are able to be made aware especially when you can see that they do not hunt and simply spend time consuming their meal but they hunt, take a bite, and then continue to kill anything else in the area that is alive which is another thing that bears do not do lol
Don't get me wrong, they should've nuked the Queen's location once it was discovered but I'm assuming that they already lost access to the higher end of military power by the time that the nest was discovered.

One of the problems I have with the "crashed alien ship" trope is... why did no one come looking for it? Let's assume these were, indeed, genetically modified doomsday weapons. You'd think the governing body that sank the resources necessary to produce such a weapon would be very interested in getting its investment back. If a plane carrying a nuclear bomb goes down on a remote island, nobody's gonna go "Eh, it's uninhabited, it's fine". Someone's going to come looking for it, or someone will THINK someone will come looking for it and want to get to it first. But, there's the ship, and there's the White Spikes. So... why?
To me, there are two likely possibilities. One, these creatures were produced illegally and thus no one would know to look for them, or two, these creatures were going to be disposed of, the ship encountered a catastrophic failure and crashed, and the powers that be reasoned it was good enough where it was. They had no investments there, so what's the harm in leaving it to rot there? The White Spikes would be contained to, and eventually die off on, a remote planet that posed no logistical or economical value. An argument could be made that that's morally irreprehensible, but come on... they invented these things. If the White Spike were genetically engineered WMDs, then that should speak volumes about the race and culture that created them.

Considering how many nukes we ACTUALLY lost (look it up it's fascinating), I wouldn't be surprised that some aliens did the same with the White Spikes.
They may be ant-like, but who says they actually originated from *Earth* ants? Could be some other ant-like species from a different planet, experiment ran there and not on Earth. The ship we find is just one of many transports from that other planet going somewhere, maybe in FTL, having a problem and crash-landing on Earth.
Aliens know a transport went down *somewhere* in the last third of the Orion arm, but for them, it could be an area of hundreds of cubic lightyears, not worth the search if they have/know how to make more.
Like you said, the aliens knew that the White Spikes on the transport would: 1) be lost in space forever, eventually dying due to lack of sustenance 2) burn up in a star/in the atmosphere if the ship crashed into a planet (don't forget gas giants exist) 3) die out eventially even if they crashed on a habitable planet and took it over, as explained in the video.

    • @LuaanTi
      @LuaanTi 2 роки тому +41

There's no indication that they have faster than light travel. The ship has been crashed for just a thousand years or so. Even if the aliens knew about the crash and where exactly it crashed... there's no reason to believe they would already be able to react. And that's assuming the Earth was _the target_, and not just unlucky. Of course, if we were the target, it's quite likely that the next message from them will be another ship(s) full of whitespikes, so this isn't a particularly happy ending :D

Think of it like a shipwreck. We're barley finding ships we knew about in detail with their sink locations with thousands of lost ships prob not going to be found for centuries more. Now imagine you have an entire solar system or section of a galaxy and a freak accident happens and you have no idea where it's been lost to. For all you know it might have shattered into pieces from hitting an object or a star or gas giant where it would be completely unrecoverable.

While the similarity to ants is neat, I'd like to point out that convergent evolution is a thing.
That is to say, the white spikes may simply have similar traits to ants _because_ those traits naturally make for a very successful organism, so it wouldn't be too weird if more than one species evolved them independently. That doesn't mean the aliens actually got some earth ants and somehow bio-engineered them into giant apex predators with barely any arthropod features at all.
That seems like _way_ too much effort just to produce a bio-weapon that happens to behave like ants. If anything it would make a lot more sense to find a very dangerous alien animal and engineer it to have ant-like qualities, if required. Occam's razor, etc.

    • @granolapancake

There needed to be some sort of connection to to Earth life for the video analysis to take place, otherwise there's nothing but pure speculation to go off from. That said, I agree with you in that the movie creators may have been inspired by traits visible in species today. But that it is far more likely for the apparent relation to Earth life to have been coincidence, and that it was engineered elsewhere.
There are only so many ways you can design something to stab after all.

Their CG animations and designs are WAY better than this film deserves, much like how the DA’s from A Quiet Place were made with far more detail than I had expected. The moment they were revealed was expertly done and they were every bit as horrifying to behold as the film had been hyping them up to be. That being said, this movie should be watched with alcohol, brain turned off.

honestly what you do is send some into the future to bring back the notes that they made to make the virus, so that they can get all the leading experts on it. I highly doubt she was the smartest just the one to survive. Less people would have died. They already proved that they can take a females body alive. If anything just have the past people swarm the female yes people would die but it would be worth it if you can just get that one female then literally just keep sending updated notes back and forth to the present and let the world leaders working on it. Could have finished that whole virus mess in less time saving many lives.

Their best choice would have been to gather technology, DNA data, animal samples, and all the surviving people and then leap into the future past the point that all of the white spikes would have starved to death, since if they kill everything they'll starve out of existence. Then, get busy cloning and breeding and building.

It’s funny but kinda a lame lie they make the military/government tell. It doesn’t make sense. They already wasted over 80% of the worlds military, now they’re down to civilians, so like, why would they wish to waste more of their limited resources? Any emergency plan, including the governments response to zombies, is protecting civilians because they’re a resource to be used.

The whole movie could have ended if someone had thought of exploring Russia, where the monsters would appear for the first time. No, humanity will fool around instead of building a wall around Russia and beginning to explore in detail the area where UFOs are to appear.

They did search, they say so in the movie. Russia is a hell of a big and desolate place to find something you dont know how it looks like. the real hole is how no one ever found the chinese vulcanic ash in their nails before, which can be attributed to some oversight.

    • @Posts_Comments
      @Posts_Comments 3 роки тому +1

@@grothaal Russia was invaded by them suddenly and hard. In the panic and chaos of fighting them you don't have much time to examine them, even when there are breaks between the fighting and a chance to examine the dead or any captured creatures you're going to want to learn about their biology and how best to fight them. They also breed extremely fast so It's likely any they do capture might not be from the original colony of the crashed ship and so they wouldn't have traces of the volcanic chinese dirt.
Dirt under the claws would no doubt have been discovered but you're not going to devote the resources needed to examine the dirt and it's origin which is a harder and more lengthy process than the movie portrays it to be especially when you're focused on finding a weakness in their biology and are trying to determine their capabilities and how best to fight them. The dirt would also be mixed with other material they picked up along the way so I'm not sure they isolated that specific sample.
They also recognized them as aliens and believed that they crash landed or came here on a meteor within a year of the invasion. They had no idea they originated from a crashed alien spaceship that had actually been here for 1,000+ years and burried. So they felt there was no need to devote resources into learning their origin and where they've been.

"No, humanity will fool around instead of building a wall around Russia"
What is it with Dipshits and building a Wall around Countries lmao.
The Wall on the Mexican Border still isn't even close to finished and you think they can build a Wall around the entirety of Russia before the Aliens spread out? Also lets not ignore the fact we've seen in the Movie that these Aliens are quite capable of climbing over Walls at an amazing speed.
Or the Fact that they specifically said that said Aliens:
      a) reproduce fast
      b) waited for the right Moment to strike, which means plenty of prep time. Breeding, getting more Numbers in your Army.
