This is kind of a weird compliment to be giving a movie, but the reaction of those crowds looks super realistic, like buildings are actually exploding and stuff. The time at which they start running, the patterns they run in. On point. 👌
buildings are very unlikely to explode unless there certain types of buildings, and also regardless of how big a creature is, a tank round isnt just going to piss it off, its going to take out a chunk, and if its durable enough to not get penetrated, then that whole part of the body would shatter because its too hard, samuel colt made all humans equal, abrams made all life equal
@@stormjin2242 The funny thing is, the concept of kaiju having weird side effects from being blasted apart is as old as kaiju movies themselves, with The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms having a pathogen in its blood that makes it tricky to kill without also spraying an area with a sickness. It would've been kinda neat if there was a movie where the kaiju dies in the first or second act, but the parasites living on it end up causing long-term problems. 🤔
@@gsesquire3441 look, he seems to care about his fans and actually interacts with them. It's not hard to understand why a lot of people appreciate that
me and my dad figured the parasites had a blood thinner in their saliva to increase blood flow to the bite wounds, but since its a human and not a giant monster, blood pressure is increased to the point of people popping like pimples
It makes sense, that would explain the sudden dizziness and the whole exploding, you tend to get dizzy when you go deeper underwater and then that pressure is so great that it results in an explosion.
One thing I find really.. confusing (to say the least) is that Saliva in sea creatures especially insects, when they bite you and inject this saliva, they are extremely painful depending on how much saliva was injected so considering that the girl that got bit from the creature that INJECTED SALIVA shouldn’t be in extreme pain, but in pain so great that should leave her crying IN PAIN on the ground? Or even kill her of how great the pain is unless she can endure the pain then yeah she’ll live but I still think she would be crying in pain on the ground , even I as a man I genuinely don’t know if I could endure such pain like I experienced saliva injection pain but only a small amount a microscopic amount, but the amount that those small creatures in the movie injected is not something I consider endurable as far as I know. I mean.. if I saw this in a movie that is supposed to be realistic (not Cloverfield)…. let’s just say I wouldn’t be surprised.
@@AdhvaithSaneAssuming she's not screaming in pain from the giant puncture wounds alone the saliva probably has a pretty hefty dose of pain killers in it, so she would feel way less pain than she should have
As a kid, I used to find it heroic to save someone from a monster while risking your own life. As an 18-year-old, I kinda realize that the protagonists and side characters are stupid for saving one ungrateful ex of the protagonist. I notice this in many movies where the main dude saved his ex, his friends die, the ex's bf dies, and they are happy together? I actually cheer on the characters who flee for their own lives. It's much better than throwing the lives of your companions to save an ex who caused you nothing but hurt. 2023 Me: Well, I did not expect this to gain much interaction so thanks for reading my cringe rant. The craziest thing about this movie is how all of his friends agreed to save his ungrateful ex who brought her new bf to his farewell party. I would've bailed on him on the spot
Pathetic especially if that one person literally broke up with the SIMP, and then brought another man with her to his going away party at his own house
Fair enough, the big monster in Cloverfield is an ugly bugger, but at least you'd know he was coming. As for the parasites, they are one of the creepiest, nastiest ideas anyone has dreamt up in a long time. It's interesting to speculate if the huge monster in Paradox also dropped larger versions of them. Another excuse not to go swimming (I'm still suffering from the trauma of Jaws).
That’s a good question because it also depends on how high the clouds are so imagine if it’s as tall as how far clouds can reach but I think the video says the exact hight

This dude had Marlena's sexy self he could have saved but he gets her killed to go save his ex-girlfriend? I don't get it. I may need to re-watch the movie though.
Regarding the issue with such a gigantic creature walking on land, this monster is also a deep-sea monster. The difference in pressure alone would kill it. The famous ''Blobfish'' pictures that were popular memes back in the day are actually examples of what happens to deep-sea creatures when they are brought into surface level.
I think Clover may actually have an exoskeleton of sorts, which would help with deep-sea pressures and also pressure on land. However, I don't like arguing physics when it comes to monsters this size since we literally have no idea what their skeletal structure, let alone the composition, is. All of those deep sea creatures that die being brought up to the surface are soft-bodied, whales are rigid but definitely not structured to survive either.
That isn’t true. Dinosaurs are reptiles, vertebrates. Oxygen amount has absolutely no effect if vertebrates. And there were no giant insects during the Mesazoic. The oxygen count wasn’t high enough. If you want giant bugs look for the Carboniferous.
@@carnotv6136 I'm no paleobiologist but it makes perfect sense that larger creatures can comfortably exist due to higher oxygen amount in the atmosphere. Insects have no proper circulatory system and would benefit more from pure tissue osmosis, whereas sauropods (The largest dinos) would have had much less strain on their circulation, and can thus grow larger, if oxygen was more abundant.
@@kaydenlewis9246 Dinosaurs where probably better at taking up oxygen that's all With insects it's a different Story Insects "breath" through their surface But the bigger you get the smaller your surface area becomes relative to your Volume Soo they would need more oxygen in the atmosphere Fortunatly for them this was the case during the Paleozoic (a time before any dinosaur) Hope I could help
I always thought that Clover was likely an ancient creature that was accidentally/purposefully awoken. The features of Clover made me think of deep-sea creatures.

@@CoracaoAcidental98 I guess so, but Clover is 100% horror, Gojira is more action and sci-fi if you ask me. Clover field monster: awake SCP foundation and Monarch: *heavy breathing intestify* Edit: My comment aged like fine wine, thank you everyone for tunning in.
Huh, honestly I never thought Clover was designed to look like an aquatic beast, much less a quadrupedal angler fish. I always thought its face was bat-like. A bat with an underbite, but a bat nonetheless. The fleshy protrusions behind its eyes, to either side of the face looked like bat ears to me, and the long spindly front legs even looked akin to how bats walk on their wing-fingers when not flying.
I was unsure upon my first viewing until the scene where it flares these protrusions. And I 100% agree with you, it's a very Bat Like creature. Perhaps one thing distressing it was a sensitivity to sound
Best explanation for the explosive bite of the Clover parasites I've ever heard. That makes way more sense than a reproductive chestburster situation like most people theorized in the past.
I love the idea that armour piercing ordinance designed to pierce hundreds of layers of heavy armour can't take down a organic being with what seems to have no armour plating
Except they did. They used Bunker Busters to finally take it down. Regular ordinance is not designed to penatrate and thats what they were using until the very last strike which finially killed it. Using nukes would have made the Island uninhabitable, and regular ordinance was having no effect, so they resorted to Bunker Busters. Did you even listen to the video? He even confirms that the monster is dead via the director. Not to mention the thickness of the skin to survive the depths of the ocean. In fact, the parasites should have bitten that girl in half if they used the same bite strength they use to pierce the hide of Clover. Unless they all are able to find a place where the tissue is a lot thinner or it took multiple bites with specially evolved teeth to pierce. Those bites on the chick are probably WAY deeper than they appear and she's lucky, at least for a little bit, that they didn't pierce a vital organ.

I feel like this movie is pretty underappreciated. (NY times called it a "feature-length gimmick.") I really enjoyed it, yet literally everyone I know disliked it if not hated it. Thought it was dumb and uninteresting. This video perfectly encapsulates the intrigue I felt when watching the movie. I wanted to know more about it, why/how the monster existed. What were the creature that fell off it, where they it's babies or other creatures? Why did that woman explode after being bit. The movie gave me a odd sense of surrealism. I felt grounded in its reality. I don't watch many movies. So maybe it's just because I had already low expectations, but this is one of my favorite films.
I reckon the monster and its parasites came from an alternative world (earth or other) when the events of the cloverfield paradox occurred. The paradox event likely phased the monster from it's deep ocean into our (movie) world's ocean, and then remained hidden for a long time before being discovered and disturbed, leading to the first movie. The monster might even be from a time that is ancient or far into the future, but brought to the present time of the movie when phased between dimensions. The adult seen in the paradox movie could have a similar story, but local to that version of earth. Hopefully the 4th cloverfield movie will shed some more light. It's very exciting stuff.
it's like the movie predator, it comes here to feed or is seeded here to get accustomed and then feed, stuff is talked about like this in the bible; beasts arising out of the oceans.
One thing that always bothers me when it comes to these monster movies is how ineffective the military is, US or otherwise. Like, let's take Cloverfield for example. If we go on the assumption that it is a deep sea animal, well first of all, the pressure difference would be enough to give it a very bad day as it's organs start to expand and it bloats up. You can see this happening with other fish that get pulled up from the lower depths of the ocean. But moving on, even if it's physiology is strong enough to withstand the effects of the massive pressure difference, it's still just flesh. Now I know what you're saying. "BuT iT hAs ArMoR!" Except no. It wouldn't need armor. A creature as large as that, who is also a JUVENILE, would have no natural predators and therefore would not need any physical armor. EVEN SO! Let's say it has armor. OK. Natural armor like chitin and keratin exists sure. Let's surmise that it's exterior is armored, which doesn't look like it considering how easily and flexibly it moves. A standard issue Armor Piercing Fin Stabilized Discarding Sabot round would be more than enough to penetrate any naturally occurring armor. This is a round fired from a mainline battle tank such as the M1 Abrams. We have such an enormous variety of weapons and ordinance that even if freaking Godzilla himself showed up, we would be able to kill it without a problem. I mean, for Christ's sake we have man portable GUNS that can kill elephants. You wanna tell me that this anglerfish looking motherfucker would last more than 5 minutes against any modern army? Nah huh. Buddy would get wrecked so hard and fast he wouldn't have time to orient his shit anywhere. The volume of overwhelming firepower would turn this thing to a fine red mist.
It's a movie, so I'm not exactly acting for realism, but you are absolutely correct. Let's ignore even the arguments about armor. Because we don't even need to speculate. We just need to ask one question. Can a bullet kill a whale? The answer is rather obviously, yes, a bullet can and will pass into a whale's skin very easily, because while they can live in high-pressure environments, that is not the same things as being naturally armored. Bullets (not even touching higher energy munitions such as tank shells) are purely a physics driven weapon,. Even if the bullet doesn't penetrate the target (which is highly unlikely given how flexible the creature is) it's still going to have an impact, because a bullet doesn't just disappear if it failed to penetrate, it'll pancake out and still exert all that kinetic energy into the target. Even if it doesn't go through, it's still gonna leave a bruise. Same with bombs. It doesn't even have to penetrate the skin to cause massive damage via concussive force. Explosion goes off close enough to the creature, and the concussive force alone can cause massive internal damage to the Hell, a standard 5.56 bullet can actually penetrate up to 3mm of RHA (Rolled Homogenous Armor) steel, which is far more structurally sound than any organic creature. It's metal that has specifically been prepared to remove structure imperfections and provide the most uniform distribution of defense possible. 5.56 still penetrated that. Not 7.62, or .50 Browning, but normal 5.56 used in almost every NATO pattern rifle. Course, in the real world sci-fi monsters don't exist, with their surprisingly unstoppable skin, so there'd be no movie if the monsters were always stopped by common ballistic weapons. But it does always seem to irk me how the physics at play almost never make the slightest lick of sense.
@@arbiterally101 Yea its on and off, one of the things I liked about king of the recent king of the monsters movie is they brought back a weapon that can seriously hurt the monsters to reinforce that humans are ALSO alpha animals. But even in godzilla they show that modern weaponry can usually hurt it... it just needs to be attached to big ass robots cuz thats way cooler. In many of godzilla's movies it can absolutely be killed but the means to kill it in those same movies don't seem very worth it since godzilla rarely ever comes to the surface and when it does it tramples like 1 city barely and then leaves for another 50-80 years. (atleast in those olden times of the big G). And then theres some forms of godzilla which are just stupendously overpowered and so ludicrously strong it makes you wonder why it's the way it is when nothing should feasibly be able to hurt it enough to warrant such outrageous natural armor (See godzilla's that survice direct meteors to the face, ones that surface getting thrown into black holes, ones that survive being actually dead etc) But yea there are alot of incarnations that can be killed by or at the very least hurt by conventional weaponry and its always wild when conventional weaponry doesn't work.... like for big ass creatures we can just be like "Oh they have a healing factor and cuz they are so big usually we can't do enough damage before they retreat to kill them" But then you have the death angels from a quiet place and they make absolutely no fking sense how they are IMMUNE TO ALL DAMAGE but simultaneously can be killed with 1 standard shotgun to the face when they lift their armor... like how did they survive that meteor impact with the earth... if sound is their weakness why didn't the military use sonic weapons? like wtf is that shit
Agreed , the reason why they take much time to kill that thing , is because saving people , they can't just bombard the monster while there is people nearby
I really hope we'll get a movie about this monster that doesn't try to be that kind of multiverse bullshit we got in the last two "Cloverfield" movies, I just wanna see this guy either destroy more cities or get thrown into the Godzilla universe and get into a Kaiju fight
I wish we'd gotten a proper sequel to Cloverfield. I'd love to have seen a more 'realistic' portrayal of a giant monster apocalypse. Godzilla is fun but him becoming a superhero that just fights other monsters to protect the world never feels real. A giant monster like this stomping around would be apocalyptic. Especially if there were more than one. They could have made a good series of films showing different groups of people trying to survive a world where this thing exists and has brought down society.
It kinda depends on which Godzilla movie and series you watch. Some versions of Godzilla tried to destroy cities just because and had to be killed by the military. Plus, giant monsters fighting each other isn't too out of the ordinary especially when we look at normal animals who fight each other for territory or mates.
Have you watched Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters? That might be more down your alley, though not exactly what you're describing. In any case maybe you'll like it :)
I remember seeing about 80% of this movie at the age of 7 when my parents were watching it on TV, and hating it because of the found-footage format. Now my first thought is that Racoon City from Resident Evil took to the nuclear option even faster. It did take 3 days, but Umbrella was most definitely pulling strings to get battle data from the multiple types of B.O.W.s they sent in with the government probably desperate to actually nuke the damn city.

I mean this is us assuming the Army used AP ammo on Clover at all. We can clearly see they are firing an M109 (in the street scene it's actually a British Abbot being a stand in, later in the film an actual M109 gets stepped on) which was most likely loaded with fragmentation or HE rounds. Again, expecting small arms to do much to a creature this size is unreasonable, however if the military assumed HE would be sufficient, it's entirely possible that they all left base loaded up with primarily HE rounds. Not to mention, even with APFSDS we have no idea what the physiology of this creature really is. For all we know, and for suspension of disbelief, it is entirely possible that most shots either miss Clover entirely (due to the frantic nature of a giant creature shaking the ground and moving exceptionally fast) or hit a non-vital area on it.
@@hellcatdave1 Well I think those membranes for it's ears looked like real nice targets for some A-10s to go BRRRRRTTT on. 30mm rounds should penetrate that with ease.
Reminds me of the Deep One in the last Jonny Quest episode "SEA HAUNT" the creature was impervious to death bullets just bounced off it and fire didn't burn it.
Not buying the Sodium explanation, why? Because i'm a chemist. The sodium would immediately react with the blood and bodily fluids before ever making it far enough into the body to cause an abdominal explosion in fact just the presence of sodium in the blood would alter the pH as it reacted creating NaOH (strong base) likely resulting in a heart attack (basically the opposite of acidosis). I think the culprit you're looking for in terms of the old sternum buster is probably more in line with Gas Gangrene (do not google images unless you want nightmares), it spreads rapidly and causes a large production of gas often causing the skin to rupture violently ejecting fluids some distance. Similar to the bite of a Monitor Lizard or Komodo Dragon it might be some kind a pathogen that lives in the saliva of the parasites that rapidly spreads throughout the victim due to higher temperatures of the body than in the deep sea. A general rule is that for every 10C/K increase you double the rate of reaction so if we say that in general its about 0C in the ocean depths and about 30C in a human you're looking at increasing the growth rate of the pathogen by a factor of 8. That seems more plausible to me.

Realism aside, I love this movie, which is an odd statement considering I've only seen it once. I can't stomach the "we got a bite" scene, gets me all pukey. Honestly, the parasites in general, from their appearance to their abilities gets me super nauseated. Within the world of realism though, the army dudes had M2 Abrams (American Tanks), which are known for turning operators of other tanks, effectively bunkers with wheels, into a fine red paste, so this creature definitely would've gotten its shit rocked much faster

No ammunition can penetrate meters of steel, just milimeters and perhaps centimeters and armour piercing misiles are made for specific tipes of armour so while probably a specifically designed misile or bullet made to pierce thru large amounts of relatively soft material would work on anything if you have enough skin you can theoretically stop an explosion from a tank round
@@felipedaiber2991 armor piercing rounds can penetrate up to 80 cm of solid steel, and anti tank mini missiles up to 120cm. Big missiles like those found in planes are messured in the meters of penetration. No creature has 40 meters of skin to protect it, and even if it does, the impact zone will get blown away, and be completely exposed to more fire. Anything will go down in 2 impacts. Aside of the weight, a creature of this size is simply impossible due to the sheer amount of food it would need to sustain it's organism. Let alone the adult version.

I agree, it should of been killed before it reached land, whether by nuclear torpedo (much safer then an above water nuke for humans, though not so much for animals) or some heavy weapon airstrike. buildings are very unlikely to explode unless there certain types of buildings, and also regardless of how big a creature is, a tank round isnt just going to piss it off, its going to take out a chunk, and if its durable enough to not get penetrated, then that whole part of the body would shatter because its too hard, samuel colt made all humans equal, abrams made all life equal

me and my dad figured the parasites had a blood thinner in their saliva to increase blood flow to the bite wounds, but since its a human and not a giant monster, blood pressure is increased to the point of people popping like pimples
It makes sense, that would explain the sudden dizziness and the whole exploding, you tend to get dizzy when you go deeper underwater and then that pressure is so great that it results in an explosion.
Should have used alcohol

@@carnotv6136 then why were they big
@@carnotv6136
I'm no paleobiologist but it makes perfect sense that larger creatures can comfortably exist due to higher oxygen amount in the atmosphere. Insects have no proper circulatory system and would benefit more from pure tissue osmosis, whereas sauropods (The largest dinos) would have had much less strain on their circulation, and can thus grow larger, if oxygen was more abundant.
@@kaydenlewis9246
Dinosaurs where probably better at taking up oxygen that's all
With insects it's a different Story
Insects "breath" through their surface

What do you mean no armor plating? That thing had 20 layers of plot armor
Don't forget these little dog sized creatures are able to apparently bite into it and cause enough damage to feed off of.
I know rite!? I was so captivated by this movie and how "real" it felt. I had so many questions and that's y i liked it
I always enjoyed it too myself. I like this style of movie.
There's a fourth Cloverfield movie?!
Isn't clover 4 going to be set in world war 2?
Don't over complicate it.
I like the idea that it's a big fish more
One thing that always bothers me when it comes to these monster movies is how ineffective the military is, US or otherwise. "BuT iT hAs ArMoR!"
Except no.
Explosion goes off close enough to the creature, and the concussive force alone can cause massive internal damage to the
Hell, a standard 5.56 bullet can actually penetrate up to 3mm of RHA (Rolled Homogenous Armor) steel, which is far more structurally sound than any organic creature.

ME TOO IT WAS SO GOOD
I wish we'd gotten a proper sequel to Cloverfield.
I love Godzilla movies, but he is definitely over powered to an absolutely absurd degree.
But J.J had to become a hack, or maybe he was always one
It kinda depends on which Godzilla movie and series you watch. Some versions of Godzilla tried to destroy cities just because and had to be killed by the military. Plus, giant monsters fighting each other isn't too out of the ordinary especially when we look at normal animals who fight each other for territory or mates.
Have you watched Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters? That might be more down your alley, though not exactly what you're describing. In any case maybe you'll like it :)
@@baronvonfaust I'll give it a go thanks
I remember seeing about 80% of this movie at the age of 7 when my parents were watching it on TV, and hating it because of the found-footage format. Now my first thought is that Racoon City from Resident Evil took to the nuclear option even faster. It did take 3 days, but Umbrella was most definitely pulling strings to get battle data from the multiple types of B.O.W.s they sent in with the government probably desperate to actually nuke the damn city.

I'll be honest, I didn't notice some of the dialog or visual cues in this movie.
I remember on a whim looking at the special features and when I heard the makers say that clover was a baby...SCARED me.
Another inconsistency in Clover's invulnerability, military weapons can'tput a scratch on it, yet sea lice can penetrate it's skin.
But that's how evolution works. The creature could be covered in layers of scales. But there is space in between the layers.

A dog sized bug vs the explosive charge in a missile. I guess the bug...
@@hellcatdave1
Well I think those membranes for it's ears looked like real nice targets for some A-10s to go BRRRRRTTT on.
No
What the fuck I googled it

@j and the first Godzilla film came out in 1952, coincidentally 7 years after Japan got nuked.

Have you heard of Attack on Titan?
@@shoesncheese The thing about it though is that it seems to improve mental faculties, not degrade it.
The reason why Humans don't start mutating like the Monsters is because the monsters were on the Sea-floor, consuming MASSIVE amounts of the stuff, and as such, a Human would also have to consume massive amounts as well, which considering how addictive it is, it's not entirely impossible.
