01:00 No. For Kombucha you need any kind of tea (without any additives) and any kind of sugar. :)
01:16 It might sound better, but in reality honey is not healthier than sugar. Honey is pretty much sugar in different form.
02:35 Not exactly. They have pretty much the same bacteria, just in different proportions.
05:25 It is a great idea to add ice cubes to your tea. There are studies that show that brewing your tea for aound 5 minutes in hot water and then adding ice and letting it brew in iced water for few hours have more phenols concentration than the tea brewed in hot water alone.
07:20 it's way faster to dissolve your honey in hot water and then add cold water. Or if you think that hot water will kill anything in honey, just don't add whole cold water at once. Dissolving honey in cold water is pain.
the honey people say that hot water breaks honey down into a toxic substance i ahve no idea if that is credible or not but i've always avoided adding honey to boiling hot water after hearing that XD
Getting started on Jun after a few years! Looking forward thanks for the informative video
Great video! You don't need Raw Honey, plain honey will due, this stuff is converted to death, nor to put the bulk material that builds on top of the culture mix. The SCOBY is actually the liquid, that will quickly build up a seal on top of freshly brewed Green Tea.
Woah, so the mother isn't considered part of the SCOBY? I understand that the starter liquid is necessary, but thought the mother was predominantly what we call the SCOBY.
@@jugaadityourself8950 Not sure about the terminology, but if you take the layered film that builds on top of fermenting tea and put it in some freshly brewed sweet green tea, it will NOT ferment the tea. If you take the fermenting tea and add it to some freshly brewed sweeten green tea, the tea will ferment and a layered film will develop at the top.
You are a hidden gem!
I love your content Kayla. Keep it up kid.
oh good you use honey. another content creator had trained a kombucha scoby using maple syrup and i thought that was weird! I used honey to train my scoby for jun.
Gonna be making this by the gallons. Ahahaha thank you for the video.
thank you so much, i love kombucha but it is to strong for me.
You can make kombucha with green. That’s what I do because green tea is a lot healthier and other reasons.
Can you use matcha instead of loose leaf? I have a ton of matcha 😬
And you eat the whole leaf that way getting all the properties. ☺️
How do you make a hub scoby yourself ??
Any suggestions on where to pick up a SCOBY?
I found a local maker via FB marketplace
There’s no way ions are going in the water from metal equipment, great advice though cheers.. laughed watching the water pour out, that happened to me in my car..
All kombucha brewers say the same thing. Idk where that started, but it doesn’t make sense.
