  • Warning: do not use UHU POR to glue sheets (unless you use a very very thin layer). Instead go for regular wood glue (white kind) or primer thinned out with water.
    For the new and updated FPV31 plane see here:

    Planning to build your own FPV49 v3? This video shows how I built my latest one.
    The one I'm building in this video is made for speed and stability.
    If you are a beginner build a lighter version using only one 2650mAh 3 cell battery or something.
    CG approx 25 til 26cm from the front of the plane (before cutting camera bay)
    Build threads with drawings:
    flitetest.com/articles/fpv49-b...
    fpv.no/vbulletin/showthread.ph... (see post 2)
    You can buy all the electronic you need to build a plane like this from Hobbyking.com
    If you do build one please let me know how it went :)
    PS: how to launch it successfully: www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxlA2R...
    2+6 is not 10! thanks Ulrik ;)

    Excellent video of the construction steps. I can see several places to save a lot of weight using carbon fiber sheets instead of wood, and using the shrink Poly-Kote covering for regular balsa build RC planes instead of tape. Awesome footage...

    thanks! yes ez has some very good solutions that work very well together. If i were to buy a new uhf system today it would be Ez UHF for instance. But for video I think I would go for the TBS receiver module in the fatsharks and something else than airwave (immersion) video transmitter.

    On the leading edge. How about using a contour sander for shaping the leading edge like on giant scale planes? This would give a nice rounded uniform leading edge. I am in the process of building mine now!

    Trond,
    Great Flying Wing and videos. I'm going to build one. I must be missing something but I can't determine the line to draw for the TE. If the ailerons were to extend to the center line, can you tell me how far back from the leading edge to that intersection? In other words what is the chord at the center including the ailerons?

  • @akemms

    Great video, Thanks for sharing your plans. What distance can you get with the Fat shark FPV 5.8Ghz spiroNet Antenna set. I have just put the same FPV system on a 350QX2 quad copter. I can only get about 80m range right now. I'm thinking everything is just way to close together causing interference. Balancing the props and twisting the cables increased my distance from 40m to 80m. Flying wing may have to be the next project.

  • @FPVTrond

    V1 build and flown. awesome wing and had a great time flying. until i made the hole in the ground whit it.
    V3 build in progress. i put the tape on before glueing. made it a lot easyer to do and looks better whit less effort.
    could i use all electrics from the V1 on the V3 ? or do i need to upgrade motor prop and esc ?

    Hi Trond. What size carbon strip are you using? Can't tell from video. I found ones in AU 0.5mx10mmx1000mm. My build is coming along just fine. Thanks again

  • @FPVTrond
    @FPVTrond  11 років тому

    NTM Prop Drive Series 35-42A 1250Kv would do just fine :)
    There are also some turnigy motors that can be used. Just look for something that gives about 400 to 600W on a 3cell and has about 1000 to 1500Kv.

  • @martinsmith49
    @martinsmith49 11 років тому

    Hi Trond, I'm building a v3 and I'm wondering if you have any reflex added to the ailerons? Thanks, Mart

    Hey great work! But why didnt you plan the battery tray and camera mount while doing these awesome sketches on sketchup? Wouldnt it be easier to be cut in first place, not after the glueing?

  • @FPVTrond
    @FPVTrond  11 років тому

    Hi, yes that will be fully possible if the motor is strong enough. How many watts does the motor give with that prop size? You will need something that gives around 450 to 600 watts or more.

  • @FPVTrond
    @FPVTrond  11 років тому

    Should be just fine then. If you are new to flying wings I suggest to make it as light as possible in the beginning, much easier to launch.

    Hi Brother :). Very nice video and a beautifull build, i would have used less and insted used some glass on it, but heey you are the man and this is your beautifull video. I would like to ask you why you didnt bout everything from ez? I have thomases and at some point i would love to have another system too. If until then the dragon hasnt come up with a tracker, then i think i would go for the ez. It should be a plus when you buy everything from the same Company, dont you think so?

      To match the thickness of the wing. An alternative would be to find 12mm thick balsa elevons or something like that.
