This is, if not the very easiest, it's one of the very easiest to build and best flying wing I've been able to find! I built my first of these 2 or 3 years ago. I added a lot of extrs carbon rod and bent flat form carbon for strenght beyond belief. I then uped the system to 2200kv motor with a 6x4 prop. This is unbelievably fast and adgile. It handles perfectly. Thanks for posting this clip. I'm sure I have posted on this clip before when I first made it. But it deserves all the aplause it can get!
It definitely was a cg problem! I figured this wings having crazy tendensies even if the cg is just off by a hair. I managed to carry a go pro around in a flight and got some cool video. The motor I have is slightly underpowered though and the servos don't give that much throw but I'll hopefully be fixing that soon.
just maiden my fpv30 and succesful! im using 1600mah x2 3S in parallel, still need additional weights in the nose..motor is D2822/14 1450KV from hobbyking with 8x4 Master Airscrew, 40A ESC. flying in half throttle, i built it WITHOUT winglets and still stable.thanks for the plan.
Thanks! So I have the CG listed above in the info section. Just mark it on the plane, balance it on your fingertips and adjust the position of the battery so it works out! I like my wings a bit nose heavy
This 30" delta flys great. I did not have any thick foam for the top layer...so I just laminated up 3 layers of the Dollar Tree Foam with the paper removed ( about 1/2 inch). Works fine with a old Blue Wonder, couple of 9 gram servos, a 12 amp ESC, and a 1300 3s battery.
HI! I build a delta wing, the same dimensions, but i have a problem i can't control it. can you give me some tips!? I have a 1600kv emax motor, 20A ESC, 7X3.5 propeller and a 1600 mAh battery, and it weights 480 g
have you setup your radio properly for elevon mixing? stick forward should make both flaps go down, stick back both flaps up, stick left and right flaps should move opposite.
great video i finally go one build from your instructions...and it flys great thankyou for the hard work and making it easy to understand ..and to build cheap...i going to help my friends build one to enjoy.too...
I use an online calculator. I have found that it works great for me. Based on that - I make the CG between the beginner and intermediate lines - then make it a bit nose heavy with some up trim. Hope this helps!
Just a follow-up, I reduced the KFm2 step height and slightly rounded the trailing edge of the airfoil, and it flew much much better. I guess that having a 3/4 inch step on a 30 inch wing was just too much.
Made this last night. Powered it with the motor off of a Ares Gamma 370, 1250KV, 8 inch prop. Few notes:, mine files better with the Center of Gravity at like 8 inches, which is natural COG for how mine is set up. I tried to add weight to get to 7 inches but it would no longer do loops. Flies nice, requires some up elevator, rolls nice, tight axial rolls, mine does not loop well. THANKS!!
Thanks! If I had to guess I would bet that its a CG problem. If the CG is even a little tail heavy on a wing - it flies like crap. Let me know how this works out!
Cont.. Materials are different! :) mine ended up way heavy, anyways I had a brain storm... I removed the motor and changed to a really small 2 cell, and I've been slope soaring with it, it's been amazing!! So I reckon you should do a vid on creating the PERFECT sloper wing. :) great vids mate. Keep it up!!
I have since switched back to the 24 gram blue wonder - I wanted to see what it was like with more thrust - but the weight negates the effect. This little delta is great though! RCTestFlight flies this design with a 3000 mah 3s lipo and full FPV gear
Hey man! I wana thank you for sharing this build. I have build one not exactly the same bud very close and based on your plans! it is my first ever delta and flies very nice! first maden was a success flite! i wish i had a video to share.. Thank you! happy flites!
I made one of these but seem to be having an issue with the cg. I move the motor about 1.5 inches up towards the nose of the wing and its about a 37g motor. The flights have been extremely weird and i've been experiementing with battery size and placement but can't seem to fix it. Do you think moving the motor back so that it sits flush with where yours is mounted will fix my problems? Also great videos!
Hi there brad watching from New Zealand love this plane so simple and flies really nicely. Looking at making one and doubling the size of the build my issue is to figure out the foam you have used it’s not readily available here in New Zealand I can find a white foam that is similar but I have no idea where to source the pink foam can you give us any more info on this foam to help me to find something equivalent Cheers
It could be. The step should be 7-9% of the wing chord - it may be too thick. RCPowers uses 6mm depron for all of their KFm2 steps - regardless of the size of the wing.
Nice plane and build. Why did you switch to the emax 2822? What batteries and prop do you fly with? It seems as though it could be heavy on your delta. I use this motor with a 9x3.8sf on my 42" Blu Baby (from RCgroups.com) and it flies very well. I am going to build this delta and I want a back yard floater not a fast plane. Great job on your detailed build. Thanks!
I have copied your design for the FPV 30, but so far I haven't been able to get it to fly good at all. The wing wants to nose dive really bad, even with lots of up elevator. The only change to the design is that I had to use 3/4 inch foam. So I'm wondering if the large kfm2 step is creating the problem.
Hey, buddy, I found this, and am really exited to graduate from my Phoenix 1600 glider. It took my two yaears to be able to fly it, and land safely. I’ve trued a couple of wings, all bad. Now, I see this and I know this I can afford and fly. The prob is, locally, nobody has 1/2 insulation foam board. Called Owens Corning, they laugh at me. Tried cutting 1 inch in half, ugly
Hi, I've made this using uk products, can't get the pink foam so I used depron sand which 'd together, she flies but to me seems heavy, could you give me the weight of yours please?? Thank you so much great vids!
Hi, is awesome what you're doing. I like it a lot !. I'm buying all the necessary supplies to built the "Delta Pusher". I already buy the foamboards but I notice that they have a paper cover on both sides. Do I need to remove this paper cover before glue all parts together ?. Also how thick is the 1 x 30" x 20" foamboard sheet ?. (NO the pink one) I hope you can answer me !.
I made this wing after watching your video. I'm having an issue with my transmitter. Thought maybe you could help. I'm using a Spektrum DX5e and when I switch it to "MIX" for elevons, I don't get full throw from my servos.....Hextronic HXT900. Any ideas? I do have the rate to HI
You can, but I don't recommend it. RCTestFlight does it with this plane, but you have to fly very fast to keep it in the air. I recommend my FPV40 for a 3000 mAh and FPV gear, check out my videos - all the info is listed on my website and in the info section below the videos
Sir I live in India so that's why I don't have that much availability of Electronics so I can only use 2212 (1400kv,2200kv) bldc motor prop and battery are not my issues but i want a small wing 30" i want the same stability and power(i want stable plane cause i dont have big area to fly around) suggest me which motor?
I'm almost done with building... with a rather odd method. I printed it on foam boards. While it looks nice, I'm afraid it might be overweight. What weight do you guys get ? I see 250g, but what's flying weight?
what size battery is that? I have 1300mah 3s packs, so im wondering if I would have to mount my motor further towards the nose to compensate for a lighter battery pack?
hi there, i have just finished building this awesome plane, thanks for making this possible. just had a question after installing all electronics including the Battery, my plane weighs 600grams with a CG at 7.5 inches from the nose. keeping in mind that my motor is a 2200kv with a 2200mah battery with a 30A esc, do you think this plane will fly well?
Hi, I have just started and I wanted to make a first plane and I decided on the delta wing...So could you please make a video explaining what you need to make a plane...what very thing does and what controller to use...thank you!
Where do you get the 'pink foam'? is there more than one kind, or thickness? Just need to know what exactly to look for . Thanks and great tutorial! PS: Can this also be made as a non-powered sloper as well?
Homedepot of Lowes. Mine was actually green, not pink, mine just says "polystyrene" on it. 1/2 inch thickness. Bring a knife to cut it down to fit in your car. 8'x4' sheets, $10.
I built this wing with your same exact setup but I am having issues getting it in the air. It's balanced properly but just nose dives into the ground on take off. How much throw are you using on your elevons? How much down thrust do you have on your motor? Thanks!
I've build this kind of delta wing with my own parts and all, however, I have been having trouble with the servos. The servos begin to spin when immediately powered. 1) I did check to make sure it was in the right spot on the receiver 2) the speed that the servo spins is able to be slowed to an extent the controller, but can't be fully stopped. Any advice of any kind is kindly appreciated. Thank you!
GREAT video Brother. I ALWAYS over design my builds. Going to try this one for simplicity reasons. One more thing. I'm always very anal about by motor mounts. Over designed. Do you have a video on your motor mount design. THANKS.
I built 3 of these (well, I built one and my son and his friend each built one with my help). These are my favourite planes for just hacking around. They are so much fun! I remove the paper from the foam board and cover both sides with packing tape. I also add an a-frame of fiberglass rods for strength. See my channel for some flight video and to see what they look like.
hello i build one just like this in video as for the dollar tree foam remove the paper and for the pink one from home depo is a 1/2 " thick... later if you want use different color duck tape i found from the .99 cent store and hot glue it will hole it together stonger and it flys great for a cheap plane...as for the motor and prop check with the hobby shop happy flying.....
Any possibility you could link a new working link to the pdf? Or could you give me measurements for wing tips? Didn't see that covered in the video. Thanks.
Can any on e please tell me how to fly a delta wing i built one but dont now how to fly it.i tried twice and crashed both times.i do know you have to pull up on take off but thats all i know.what else do i need to know to learn how to fly this plane.
I cant find that stick mount online. With knowing cg when i place all the electronics on i should put my finger underneath the wing and it should somewhat balance off at that calculated n prescribed place?
This is freaking so easy to build. Would you send me the PDF of the build? I tried to download it from the website but it will not work. Also how many channels do you need on the receiver? Thanks
I know this is going to be a *very* basic question, but I've only dealt with repairing pre-built quads at this point, and this will be my first RC plane, so... My receiver just arrived a couple days ago, and I'm still waiting on my servos, etc. How do you wire up the receiver to the battery? Also, where can I find good mounting hardware for the motor? (I've searched my usual parts sources for 'stick mounts' and 'motor mounts', and come up pretty empty. Nothing that seems like it would attach a motor with its spin axis parallel to the mounting surface.)
Usually your ESC supplies 5v straight to the receiver via the throttle channel. If it doesn't, you will need to get a battery eliminator circuit (BEC) to do that for you. This may help: ua-cam.com/video/j61Q3e8AFR4/v-deo.html As for motor mounts, i tend to 3d print mine so i really don't know but i guess you could use some angled aluminum.
Ok, I've got one more question... I thought I bought the same wire (*.037" hardened music wire) mentioned in another build video, but it just flexes when the servo pushes back. What should I be looking for?
This is probably going to be a bit late, but here's what I know: Hardeded steel wire works fine, about 1.2mm I excpect I use... I have also hade positive experience with wire coathangers and bicycle spokes. The spokes are good because mine already had the bend made at one end, with a flat part which is easier to incorporate into a model. However, both coathangers and spokes are a lot heavier than I would like, although they fly fine. Depending on where you are, prices and especially names may vary. Another thing you might want to consider is how efficent your hinge is. If it is too stiff, the linkage will have a hard time whatever. Try making the hinge as loose as you can, and furthur reinforce it when you know the limits.

Maybe the best build video I've seen. You leave nothing to question. Great job.

The motor I have is slightly underpowered though and the servos don't give that much throw but I'll hopefully be fixing that soon.
Can't even fly RC yet and want to build it! You did a stellar job making the job sound easy. Only hope I can do it justice when I get into wings.
Thanks! The pink foam is 1/2 inch
Hi mate! I've built this and flown with a few different motors etc, but I'm in the uk and I'm pretty sure our materials are he
which motor u used?
i can use only 2212
just maiden my fpv30 and succesful! im using 1600mah x2 3S in parallel, still need additional weights in the nose..motor is D2822/14 1450KV from hobbyking with 8x4 Master Airscrew, 40A ESC. flying in half throttle, i built it WITHOUT winglets and still stable.thanks for the plan.

will try that. thanks again and happy flying!
U just keep posting videos and have patience u will be in the list of the RC hobbyists
great video i finally go one build from your instructions...and it flys great thankyou for the hard work and making it easy to understand ..and to build cheap...i going to help my friends build one to enjoy.too...
Yes! I do recommend a smaller battery, but a 2200 will work. Just fly fast!
I use an online calculator. I have found that it works great for me. Based on that - I make the CG between the beginner and intermediate lines - then make it a bit nose heavy with some up trim. Hope this helps!
Thanks! This is still my favorite plane of all time
a tip : watch movies at Flixzone. I've been using it for watching lots of of movies during the lockdown.
@Noe Bryce yea, I've been watching on flixzone for since november myself =)
Thanks for sharing your plans! It flies amazing
The white foam is ~6mm and the pink foam is 1/2 inch, just plug in the servo wires to the receiver!
I believe he mentioned 7" back from the nose in the video. looks like a fun build!
Thanks so much for the design and excellent build video. I built one and it flys GREAT!!

Ever use a 1" piece of foam instead of 1/2"? Not sure if control surfaces will work with that height. Your thoughts?

Great video, but what is the thickness of the foam you use? and what is the connections that we have to make for both servos to the channels.
Thanks! Its 250 grams without the battery. Hope this helps!

Great design - going to build. Where is the cg from the leading edge and what size and make of prop are you using. TIA -James
Have you tried building wings using 3mm carbon fiber sheet and fuselage from qav250? Add pink foam to create aerofoil
Looking to build soon...can you fix the link to plans. Thanks for sharing this info!
Good build video, think I will try this, thank you very much.
Would this design work with a 2205 or 2206 2300kv 1550 3s or 1300 4s ? And 5in prop
You can, but I don't recommend it. RCTestFlight does it with this plane, but you have to fly very fast to keep it in the air. I recommend my FPV40 for a 3000 mAh and FPV gear, check out my videos - all the info is listed on my website and in the info section below the videos

I like that clone of funjet you made. are there plans for it somewhere..? thax.. Also Where do you buy that purple foam? thax
You can get the pink foam (or the blue equiv) from home depot or lowes. I think it is 1/2" XPS insulation foam.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing.
7 inches from the nose (CG). 8x4 APC prop
What cutter do you use? It cuts like butter! I need to cut this type of material, could you help me please?
I'm almost done with building... with a rather odd method. I printed it on foam boards. While it looks nice, I'm afraid it might be overweight. What weight do you guys get ? I see 250g, but what's flying weight?
can i put a 3000mah power 3cell battery in it and some fpv gears?and what prop size would u recommend?
what size battery is that? I have 1300mah 3s packs, so im wondering if I would have to mount my motor further towards the nose to compensate for a lighter battery pack?
I like the 8x4 on this plane
hi there, i have just finished building this awesome plane, thanks for making this possible. just had a question after installing all electronics including the Battery, my plane weighs 600grams with a CG at 7.5 inches from the nose. keeping in mind that my motor is a 2200kv with a 2200mah battery with a 30A esc, do you think this plane will fly well?

may i know how much should the delta wing should weigh with all the elctronics? can u please note me?
Hello, the plane of the wing does not come out, the link is broken, you could put it back, I would be interested in being able to do it. Thank you.
What is the benefit of the servos being vertical rather than horizontal? In most other videos I have seen they have them horizontal.
Nice video, looks simple. Looking for build my own one, thank you !
I wonder if putting a mobius cam on top of battery will keep this wing within CG?
I run this with a 18A ESC and that is fine. Check out the info section above - I have all of the electronics listed
For micro FPV - with lightweight gear only. But yes!
hey nice video can you tell me what the thickness of the pink foam hope you understand me (not english) thnx
I built this wing with your same exact setup but I am having issues getting it in the air. It's balanced properly but just nose dives into the ground on take off. How much throw are you using on your elevons? How much down thrust do you have on your motor? Thanks!
Is it possible that your motor is pitched downward a bit causing it to arc down to the ground?
Hi! great built, thanks for sharing! im almost done builing this delta wing and i wonder how do i find the CG?
How do you make a stick motor mount? Video please.

Cool build I build one my self👍
Is it ok to youse a 200g Lipo ?
Or is this to havy ?
TeamOnTheTop depends on your motor you using and the wing size

I read on wiki that they don't use kfm to make planes cos of poor lift to drag ratio, looks like this isn't the case for your designs?
You got a GOPRO on this plane!!! Thats crazy. But good work!
Can you add a close up picture of the motor mount?
i dont understand does the motor have to be straight with the foam or can it be over or under the foam by a littler bit
This is freaking so easy to build. Would you send me the PDF of the build? I tried to download it from the website but it will not work. Also how many channels do you need on the receiver? Thanks

If it doesn't, you will need to get a battery eliminator circuit (BEC) to do that for you.
This may help: ua-cam.com/video/j61Q3e8AFR4/v-deo.html
As for motor mounts, i tend to 3d print mine so i really don't know but i guess you could use some angled aluminum.
Thanks. That cleared things up a lot.
No problem!
Ok, I've got one more question... I thought I bought the same wire (*.037" hardened music wire) mentioned in another build video, but it just flexes when the servo pushes back. What should I be looking for?

The spokes are good because mine already had the bend made at one end, with a flat part which is easier to incorporate into a model. However, both coathangers and spokes are a lot heavier than I would like, although they fly fine.
Depending on where you are, prices and especially names may vary.
Another thing you might want to consider is how efficent your hinge is. If it is too stiff, the linkage will have a hard time whatever. Try making the hinge as loose as you can, and furthur reinforce it when you know the limits.
can a NTM 28-30 900kv use in these kinds of delta wings?
I leave it on, adds extra strength
