All orchids have been purchased from ebay, Poland, from 2 sellers I buy from for a while now. Transport is usually ok and the orchids look good.

You're right Danny, in Brazil all of our online orchid sellers send a free orchid when you reach a preestablished value of purchase, actually they send more then one orchid depending on how much you spent.

Hi Danni I have been watching your videos for a few months now and enjoy them very much. I have had your Blue Bird orchid for a couple of years now and amazingly it is still alive and has flowered every year so far. You will love it when it flowers and the flowers last quite a while as well. I would have to say it is my favourite orchid.
Enjoy your epidendrums! I hope you have lots of space, as they grow and reproduce prolifically. My epidendrums put out flower spikes nearly as tall as me this summer, nearly 6 feet (1.5ish meters) tall, and even after several months each spike is still blooming. They're one of my favorite orchids.

Hey Danny, I agree with you 100% and I've said it myself, it really costs them nothing and would mean the world to us if they threw in a freebie now and then! Aside from the free publicity on UA-cam, which, I know you don't tell them who you are, but they have to know, lol, all the money we've spent ordering from them alone merits some sort of recognition on their part, in my humble opinion. Interesting haul ! Once when I ordered at a nursery I got a psychopsis in bonus ! ( it was a mistake not a gift but I am not complaining 😂)

I ordered orchids for the first time in my life and got a little extra seedling. Got super excited but since it`s winter in Canada it got cold damage and lost its leaves and now battling for its life haha... If only it was summer, eh. At least the plant I ordered didn`t die.

Epidendrums are one of my favorites, the E.purpureum is especially nice!
Don't worry about the catasetum pileatum hybrid! they are one of the most common hybrid in europe from what I ahve noticed. Schwerter used to sell it and it's not that hard to find it on ebay occasionally. I also have one but not sure if it's the exact cross, just know that it has the red and white colours and it's a pileatum type.

Maybe you don't get a lot of freebie orchids, but I bet they usually make sure to give you the best plant of the bunch since they know you will be filming the plants for youtube. That's a pretty nice perk by itself.

Maybe you could look into sponsorships or some other business arrangement with different places. Other UA-camrs are sponsored by squarespace or warby Parker the lost goes on and on.

So where I live there are some wood chips, and growing in those wood chips, are some highly invasive African spotted orchids. Would it be possible to take one of those wood chips, put it in a mason jar with some water for humidity. And then put some phalaenopsis seeds on the wood chip. Would it be possible to germinate the seeds like that? Because it seems the natural fungi is present to germinate them.

Danny, I have a question about decorative pots. There are a lot of orchids that like to have air to their roots, so I use an airy media and holes in the sides of the pot. But if I then place the orchid in a decorative pot, will the roots still get plenty of air? It seems to me that the outer pot would block the ventilation through the side holes. Thanks!

I love your videos the are so full of information and beautiful orchids. I live in Southern California it is very hot and very very dry here. What kind of orchid do you think would do best here.
You might consider going with African violets. There are many thousands of varieties, and loads of colors, shapes, and sizes; you can find varieties as small as 2 inches across, to as large as 36 inches. They're also relatively inexpensive and easy to grow. They're quite happy with average house or office conditions. Google the name and be prepared to be blown away by the variety of flowers and leaves.
I do have African violets 3 of them they do amazing here. They are so lovely. Thanks for the help.

Hi! I recently got your classic grocery store phalaenopsis from my boyfriend and I've been taking care of it for about a month and it's starting to lose its flowers. Is this normal for this time of year? Sorry haha one more question, one of its leaves seems slightly floppies than the leaves in the other side of the orchid. Hopefully you can help me! I think your question is which sphagnum is better, from Chile or from New Zealand, both are the same I collect mine from the wild and sterilize it in the microwave ;-)

Where do you order your orchids?
You pronounced the genus correct. The pronunciation for the second is "Philippi- nense" ( how you pronounced the word "sense" just change the letter s to n. It`s not "nen-se" some sorth of pronounced as 1 syllable not 2. ( From the Philippinese btw... xD that`s how we orchid taxonomist call things that ends with -ense)
