Happy to share the first video with kora player and good friend, Shira Gil, playing a traditional song from West Africa called "Kaira" in the Sauta tuning.
The kora and xalam complement each other beautifully. The kora has a divine sound that can also be rough traditionally, and as a harp, its sound resonates and creates a cloud of frequencies. The xalam is microtonal and played like a lute, giving it a rougher sound that can still be sweet and gentle. More to come! 🇸🇳❤️🇬🇲
