This stuff dries my hair out so much and it hasn't been doing too great with keeping my color up (it's been teal and I got the teal color). I only have the shampoo, do I need to be using the conditioner as well?

No. You should use any conditioner that is color safe. Meaning ones that won't make the color fade. Color safe shampoo as well.
the same color and brand conditioner just sets it more it also has color so it also adds more color
