    I won a used copy at an auction my LFGS held a while back for about $20. Haven't played it yet but it fills that beige euro shaped space on the shelf.

    Loved the review. I ended up sticking some little pads on the bottom of the player boards to raise them off the table. Unfortunately I’d already pulled the remains of my hair out before implementing the fix.

      use painter's tape to provide friction - very el cheapo and fast to do.

    This week I’ve bought 4 German versions of boardgames for the price of 3 English versions. Is it cheap or just smart to fill your shelves?! Bgg has alle the rules in English.

    Yes. You hit the nail on the head. I was surprised I liked the game, but I’ve only played it online and the thought of teaching it makes me sick to my stomach. Too many “phases”.
    Same reason I gave A Feast for Odin the boot.

    • @nihlify
      @nihlify Рік тому

      A Feast for Odin is very simple lol, there's like one main phase, the other ones you do in like a second following the order on the board. The only difficult thing there is learning the iconography on the main board

    Thanks for posting. I dunno what’s the point of slamming a SLEUG for being a SLEUG? If you find pleasure in playing this, then I am glad for you. I heard nothing that would interest me in the least - which is good news for my overstretched finances and my overfilled board game storage.

    La Ganja is the Jamaican version BTW. This one’s been sittin on my shelf ever since Rahdo convinced me I’d like it, but the idea of teaching it to new players does give me a migraine. Eventually it’ll get played because I love my beige, boring-looking euros, but it’s not gonna be anytime soon I think.

      You should try it. It's a fantastic game! The first play will be a bear like some games but then it's smooth sailing from there on. I've had this one since 2014 and played it 10+ times and it's enjoyable everytime.

    They did a tiny Feld thing on the new KS to milk more money from the Feld Fans

    I tried it once on BGA and the experience ruined it for me - I made mistakes in the first rounds as I was a noob and then for a week or more I had to log in to the game only to skip turns so others could continue to play.

    I hate stephan feld games, period.
    Just played la granja today, indeed 30 minutes of rule explanation, but is that really a barrier? Time flew by. People around us where playing their second or third game and we were just chogging along. The whole thing is very hypnotic. All those options to consider...
    If anything, it reminds me of Santa Maria. Both are excellent games. LG is probable more replayable than SM, but I don't know if people are offended by the subpar artwork.

      Yea..that’s why I didn’t know how to pronounce it.

    • @run_VNC
      @run_VNC Рік тому

      The game is set in Spain and the title is spanish for The farm, 'tis pronounced La GranHa, with the "h" sounding like habit or happy. I might be wrong but in spanish and portuguese, which are 90% the same, it's very, very rare to pronounce "J" like "y". In some spanish talking countries the pronunciation of Granja is with "J" sounding like "Geh" like in Jesus or Josh.

    • @lajeit
      @lajeit Рік тому

      @@run_VNC yeah well I'm Spanish if it makes any difference. In Spain "J" sounds more like "kh" in Hindi or "Q" in Urdu which is a gutural sound. It is not a soft "h" sound as in happy, but with the "h" sound it's totally understood by all because other dialects pronounce it that way...but never as an English "J". In the video it is pronounced wrong, which is is an easy thing to solve with all the resources we have today. I just generally like to learn. That's all. Be it Pah-ree or Gran-hah or whatever comes my way.
