They have LOT in technicalities and technologies. Psions would be a nightmare due to their abilities, Interceptors are almost toe-to-toe Brute Choppers due to firepower and ability to charge and just smash and destroy things. Threshers can do strafes and air support and their damn projectiles can track, their Goliath tanks are nasty af and takes three of their thrusters just to take em down (or another tank with two shots).
Imperial Land Tanks aka Rogal Dorn's favorite method of moving entire command fortresses, the Psion's OXA machine which is a clairvoyance machine. Overall they're just able to come up with tech that adapts to their situations or whatever just happened to get in their way. What they lack in variety, they make up for it in technical specifications and general usage.

Way closer than most people think. The Almighty is not a fleet asset, it required protection everywhere it went and its main deterrent was that blowing it up once linked to a star would kill the star anyways. It’s a nonfactor in such a conflict since it’s only brought in after local forces have been pacified.
Honestly? I’d give this to the Banished. The Red Legion are NOT the Cabal. They’re a single detachment within the larger military. They’re good to be certain but a lot of this comes down to a couple of things that swing it in the Banished’s favor IMO.
    Navy and combined arms.
Cabal ship scale weapons are generally small kinetic weapon batteries along the flanks of their ships from what we’ve seen, along with generous missile silos. I’m sure they have more but we’ve seen nothing comparable to UNSC MAC cannons or larger energy weapons which were generally what were needed to punch through Covenant and Banished shielding, and the Covenant even before the Banished were insanely effective in naval combat. Banished were even better, not held back by the tactical failings of the more dogmatic Covenant before them. Without the Almighty we just haven’t seen the sort of destructive power from the Cabal to suggest they’re capable of glassing entire worlds with conventional forces in the same way the Covenant fleets could, and while the Banished use some unique designs of their own make they also use almost all of the older Covenant naval assets as well.
On the ground? We’ve only seen the one heavy tank variant from the Cabal and a couple of scout skimmers, easily matched if not surpassed by a civilian vehicle that the Last City modified and repurposed into a heavy battle tank. Red Legion don’t have much in regards to air superiority, relying almost entirely on their Threshers.
Anyone familiar with Halo and more specifically Halo Wars can tell you how outmatched the Cabal are here. Neither the Covenant or the Banished after them skimp on their air or armor presence, and while the Cabal beat them in rapid deployment that doesn’t matter much when they have ground units capable of operating as dedicated siege and anti-ship platforms alongside a fair diverse air force able to enforce complete air superiority and a robust armor corps including the likes of Scarabs. The Cabal have no answer for these sorts of assets without involving their already equally - if not outmatched - navy, and Banished artillery and fortifications are just as good if not better with how much more willing they are to employ energy shielding in their usage.

    • @yourewrong9028
      @yourewrong9028 6 місяців тому +1

I mean, if you really want to talk about ground units that would require naval intervention to counter - Imperial Land Tank much? Absolutely no chance that even something like a scarab is destroying that.
Also, the fact that the almighty wasn’t primarily a fleet asset and required an escort everywhere it went IS true, but think about the implications of that for a moment. The escort fleet would have to be able to protect it for extended periods deep inside the coronas of its target stars, which indicates a far greater durability than pretty much any non-forerunner ships from halo.

In a 1v1 between ghoul and atriach (do u spell him this way?) it would be interesting because atriach is taller land a bit stronger than ghaul but ghaul has experience as a gladiator and therefor with various weapons and combat styles.

His name is spelled Atriox for the question you asked. Atriox has experience in battles too as he and his pack brothers would be sent into the front lines to be killed off and he would always return. He has years of battling experience which is what gave him the knowledge and ability to basically make himself and his new faction at the time a formidable threat to the Covenant. Atriox also hires humans and any other species willing to join his cause. If he manages to convince the Psions to join him and rebel against the cabal, that could lean in his favor. Also even if Atriox was out, he has many leaders in charge of his forces on different divisions and such like the lekgolo Hunter pair called Colony which is in charge of all the Hunters and the variants it makes.

They are NOT more advanced than the Banished. I get that you probably know more about Destiny lore, and not know about Halo lore as much, but it's not even a fair fight technologically. Covenant ship shielding (and subsequently the Banished) require multiple UNSC MAC rounds to do anything to the ship. And just to clarify any man-made ship would get annihilated by a single MAC round.

The fact the Banished shields can withstand multiple direct hits is very impressive and not something to laugh at or overlook.
However you cant overlook the Paracausal powers the Psions have and the tech levels of the Cabal to be able to combat beings that defy the laws of physics. Just like what Cortana did to Doisac the Cabal would do the same but also to their sun, wiping out their space in the Universe. What good are leaders like Atriox, Pavium, Voradus, Let Volir etc if a Psion Mindflayer can just enter their minds.

Although i dont want to say yet who would win or lose since my knowledge of the banished is limited, you didnt factor q few things i feel:
    1. The cabal engineered a device to counter and trap a paracausal machine. Even though it ultimately failed, it was still capable of channeling some of that energy, it seems. So clearly the red legion are no dummies. They have AMAZING engineers and scientists, and considering ghaul's strategical thinking, they would likely look for something to counter some of the strongest boons the banished have over them.
    2. Psions are... psionic. They can induce visions, read minds... even though they don't quite stealth, they are excellent infiltrators and snipers. Their telepathy makes them excellent for strategy, and their ability to cast psionic force attacks is not to be underestimated. (A non-flying petson getting knocked into the air is an easy disorient)
    3. Cabal seem to have a lot of good shield and teleportation tech. Aside from cabal teleporting away during retreats (and occassionally teleporting in, though they also often use drop-pods suggesting teleportation is an expensive choice reserved for indoor assaults, but that also suggests incredible teleport accuracy), and the presence of powerful shields on bases and soldiers (though it seems as if the average cabal ship lavks this feature... odd), the undamaged Almighty was shown to teleport away from a supernova.
The cabal may initially be battered. In a surprise attack, and may struggle in situations where preserving the local area is neccessary. But once they understand the enemy, which will happen very quickly, thanks to both their stratrgists and psions, and have their guns set up, the banished will have to be on the defensive. And the red legion will be sure to push them on that. Only the fact that the banished ships use shields may give them a strong edge in space warfare, which may end up being a deciding factor

Yes i am more Halo then Destiny, but when you want to look at the finer details, even with the Red Legions planets destroying weaponry, in the end they'll have nothing, the Banished could easily use theyre knowledge of converting foreign technology to turn said planet destroying weapons against the red legion. the average life expecancy of a cabal is 800-900 years, each soldier weighs as much as a small car, and they have a battlenet which feeds info learned from every bullet fired and damage inflicted in order to more efficiently kill the aliens they fight. it would take one battle to know everything about their enemy. and that's just the basic legions like the siege dancers and ice reapers. the higher ranking legions are tasked with asset retrieval and CELESTIAL DEMOLITON. those being the blind legion and skyburners respectfully. where does the red legion fit into all of this? they are the pinnacle of their empire. led by an emperor/dominus who has never seen defeat under his leadership, who has all the other legions weaponry at his disposal and more. including a flagship with a weapon to destabilize a star's core triggering a super nova.
    vs
the banished, who subsist off the scraps the covenant leave behind and only became a threat when the power vacuum left from the collapse of the covenant. their gimmick is that they are an army of space pirates. not an empire (since their homeworld nuked itself) and not an army (since a lot of their arms are hired)
not really a fair fight IMO though i feel as though the skyburners a more even match, only reason they lost was bc they were caught fighting an eon old god who clicked "team change" on half its legion. even with that setback they managed to fight their way to its dreadnought and came very close to destroying it. they seemed more of a worthy opponent
however a fight between the red legion and covenant seem more on par with one another in terms of tactical strategy and naval warfare.

Lets be clear here, this is a total stomp lorewise, and the Cabal win easily. In fact, they'd probably win against the Covenant too. They're able to go toe to toe with the Hive, who defeated the equivalent of Destiny's Forerunners (the Ecumene, literally the same name as Halo's Forerunner government), considered complete masters of the physical realm. Now the Cabal still lose against the Hive for the most part, but they can still casually blow up planets and suns, or even consume planets for fuel. It's simply not a fair point. Destiny is playing with a level of power that Halo just can't match, if only due to it being more or less space fantasy rather than hard fantasy.
However. On the ground? I'm not sure. The Banished have the best chance on the ground, but even then? I don't think so. The Cabal simply have too much to deploy and use, and both sides are capable of clever tactics. I think the thing that ruins it for the Banished would be the Psion's stuff. If we even out the numbers, though, the Banished might manage it. I dunno.
In terms of characters, though, even without the Light, Ghaul almost certainly takes Atriox, or any other banished, to pieces. He's bigger, he's stronger, he's got better tech, tougher, and has at least as much combat experience. With the Light? It isn't even close to fair.
The one thing I'll give the Banished for sure, though, is that their in game AI is much better.

Beuh, the Cabal as an empire would survive in 40k. Maybe not become one of the biggest powerhouses, but DEFINITELY hold their own.
They have what's essentially upgraded Bolters as their basic weapon (updates data on a FLEETWIDE SCALE with every shot fired; enemy armor, weak spots, gps, etc.).
Cabal as a species is the same size as a Custodian and can be assumed to be as physically domineering as them in combat; the only reason we manage to hold our own against them is because of soace magic and plot armor via being the "main character" in game.
They also have psuedo psyckers in the form of the Psions - while the average psion isn't as potent as a librarian, the psion FLAYERS are capable of threatening entire planets with only a group of 3 of them.
The Leviathan wasn't specifically designed for war - it's the Cabal equivalant of a pleasure yacht. Imagine what actual warships are capable of, when a pleasure yacht is capable of eating planets. The ships themselves are likely armed well enough to require an entire floatilla to destroy, which is likely offset by the sheer amouny of resources required to build something of that scale.

The Leviathan is the most powerful ship they have. It was killing multiple cabal warships in the raid. Your way overestimating the cabal. Space marines are bigger and faster than their average soldiers. Their commanders can get killed by a lightless hunter with a knife. Amanda gunned multiple down by herself. There average ships don’t do a lot of damage couldn’t even take out the tower. Their Zions have no protection against warp predators or blanks. They could survive in warhammer but never thrive.

The Banished would never tolerate the Cabal, I think that they would (on the whole) be evenly matched. Certainly the Sangheli would consider the Cabal uncouth, The Jiralhanae would see themselves as equal to the Cabal, while the Kig Yar would see the Cabal as exploitable. No one would consider what the Unnghoy would think.

    Red Legion SOLOES

  • @tymarscott6548
    @tymarscott6548 7 місяців тому +10

Ghaul literally solos the whole army and their leader all due to 1 feat from his lore.
    Context:
Calus had a group of elite assassins known as his Shadows. One of his shadows was a literal living lightning storm in space (Destiny is crazy and i love it❤) that was so massive it called The Leviathan tiny. The ship so massive it can easily fit a few earth-sized planets in its maw at once was called TINY by this storm.
    The feat:
Calus gives it a suit that resembles Warlock armor to inhabit for its mission to kill Ghaul. Whrn facing Ghaul, it released every last drop of its electrical energy (literally died and faded away😢) in Ghaul's face and he tanked it and survived.
The massive storm that described a casual planet-eating ship as "tiny", used everything it had all at once to kill Ghaul and failed. Ghaul was not saved by anyone nor used any special tech. He was ambushed, caught off guard, and had to tanked it all and was still in good fighting condition.
    Conclusion:
Ghaul in base easily solos with or without space magic and immortality simply due to having easily Large planetary (super lowball) to potentially solar system level durability (high ball-due to just how big the living storm potentially was) 😅. The Banish literally have nothing that can hurt him. It took a paracausal being (the Guardian) and their God (The Traveler) to kill him.

Atriox quite literally has a similar back story to Ghaul. Only difference is atriox never took over the covenant. If the covenant couldn't take down Atriox, which is more technology advanced than the cabal, what hope does the red legion have? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

btw, the cabal empire is immense af and they literally own like thousands of star systems with worlds dedicated just to storing memories and knowledge like they're worth as much as a hard drive.
The cabal have also been fighting wars since the beginning of time, and their strategic knowledge is unmatched by literally anyone.
They literally had an army of hundreds of thousands( a scouting force) sneak past some of the most advanced defenses ever without being noticed at all.

Idk, in terms of ground warfare. The banished would demolish the red legion. The banished just has too many different species and powerful leaders within the banished. A whole Lekgolo colony within their ranks. One scarab would be enough to decimate tons of cabal before going down. Wraith's, Marauders, reavers, locust, ghosts, choppers, and Blisterbacks. Compared to the one tank design and vehicle design cabal got. The banished just has every advantage in ground warfare.
Not to mention, having Lekgolo on their side. Sangheili for stealth and swiftness. Brutes that match the cabals' strength. The banished has shielding paired with their armor.
