  • This is my pretty bad video of me replacing my torque box on my TJ. I had issues with my phone to start and missed a lot of footage. Then while I was working on editing my old MacBook Pro decided it didn't like me using iMovie and crashed. I replaced it thinking I could just transfer my hard drive to the replacement but that data was corrupted and wouldn't transfer. I only had the few clips I saved on my phone. Nothing from my GoPro.

    Thank you for this excellent video. I am so envious of your garage/shop. You guys in the Rust Belt of the USA are true "Warriors against the rust", that is caused by the ice melting chemicals they have to put on the roads up there to keep the roads open. I love the way you and your friends ripped the tub off and stood it up on its end to fix the damage. Job well done. Y'all are just tough as nails up there. Carry On Sir!

    I currently have my tub on it's side and don't want to go through the trouble of moving back and forth to test fit. Did you rough estimate it to the original box and weld without test fitting?

    How do you have your tub supported so it will stand up like that? I'm doing floors and torque boxes on my 99 tj. I have mine tilted upwards at an angle, but fully upright would be a whole lot easier!

      I just stood it up on the tailgate and made a wooden “jack stand” to support the roll bar so it didn’t roll back.

    I"m not a welder to body man by any means but it seems like you just sorta tack welded that torque box in there.... maybe I mistook what happened in the video, but is there any reason not to just weld it pretty solid? Is that so it can be removed later if needed?

    Hope you can still see this as the video is old, but i need to do this to my TJ, did you have to measure the torque box to make sure the bolts for the frame lined up perfectly? also did you take the body off just to do this job?

      Thanks for the comment and subscribing. I took the body off cause it was easier and I have a lift. It would making lining up the boxes if you left it on the frame. Then you can bolt them in place, tack them in place so they are lined up.

    how where you sure of the aligment of the bolt?

    • @shaunsgarage1091
      @shaunsgarage1091  3 роки тому

      I wasn’t. I got them as close as I could from the old marks on the frame and then went and got an alignment.

    Take your mike off from your jacket and your inside shirt. You want more subscribers then put it so they can hear you.
