I believe Michael Moon was supposed to be a full time/permanent replacement for Michael Denner, but was fired after the Abigail tour due to personality conflicts.
You're right, Michael Denner played on the Abigail album, but the inner sleeve of the LP has a B&W picture of the band with Moon and not Denner.
Denner is one of my favourite guitarists ever. Glad I got to see him playing live with Mercyful Fate in '93.

Didn't expect this today! Excellent. Saw King Diamond in December 87, open for Motorhead. I was front row in Germany. Andy is a great riff meister! along with Michael Denner. Those two had some wicked RIFFS on Abigail album and the previous release FATAL PORTRAIT.

He said 1988 1st avenue we were with Flotsam and Jetsam that was wild that he remembered the place and I asked him to autograph and he did and said true fan that was awesome meeting him he was just so mellow and cool can't wait till Mercyful Fate comes.

This ⬆. Pete Blakk would have to be the second most important guitarist that has been in King Diamond (of course Andy is the first). Pete was on Them, Conspiracy, and The Eye - arguably the strongest stretch of albums in the bands discography. Maybe one could argue Michael Denner, but I'd say Pete was Andy's greatest partner

David, greetings from across the pond. Another great video, I really love your content mate, it's what we call over here, top drawer :) Being as I'm a bit senior, it's great to go back in time with a lot of the players you feature, who were idols of mine. You made me think of a player that I've not thought about in a very long time, Stevie Salas. He made some great music back in the day. I was lucky enough to meet him in the audience at a Living Colour gig in London in 1990 or thereabouts, and as well as being a great player, he's a really lovely guy too. Would be great to see you do a video on him, and I'm sure it would benefit lots of your members. His funk/rock crossover rhythm playing is outstanding.

I just had to check if there was an episode about LaRocque's licks and if the style was the same, or if it contained something like on the King Diamond's Magic. I'm not at all familiar with their discography, but the solos on Magic just blew me away and my jaw still drops to this day, has so exciting vibes and licks. Maybe some day you can do a more recent LaRocque licks that has Magic in it. Just last week learned he uses/used the same preamp as Laiho and myself, explained why I really liked his solo tone's sweet power.
Talking about the top frets without pinky, I can totally see why he does that. I simply can't fit my hand in there when using pinky. Probably the angle of my hand doesn't work for it but whatever the reason is, the smaller the pattern physically is, the harder it is to fit the pinky in the higher the fret is. It usually turns deep in the horn of the guitar or rests against the body while the ring finger steps in.

the reason that most old great guitarists aren't using their pinky so ofter or even times at all is happening for two reasons...
    a) most of them were self taught... using 3 fingers instead of 4 is a lot easier... so this became a habbit.. or even for others, electric guitar techniques back in 60s, 70, or 80's were not so advanced like now... they were kinda following more the "keep it simple" as a rule of thumb... while lack of knowledge in general is very common among guitarists of older periods.
    b) the pinky gives freedom while playing, though the thing is that isn't recommended for many stuff because it doesn't have much power, i mean you can't bend hard, you can't vibrato effectively, it's losing on power in long term... this is a good reason whenever is possible NOT using it..
