Here it is 7 years after you first posted this and it's relevant still. Thank you and sorry I just found you but I was specifically seeking " pre and post " roll and you nailed it !
Hello Paul, I just want to express my appreciation over your way of doing all these Pro Tools tutorials. You are way above the UA-cam Crowd. You well know your topics and the transparency in your explanations is second to none. Indeed, I am hungry for more as one of your subscribers. Bravo!
+mklggle Thank you! I'll be producing many more videos. I'm just trying to fit them in around work. Expect several over Christmas when I'll hopefully have no other work to do ;)
Paul Maunder I have to agree Paul...your videos are way more useful than the rest on UA-cam. Very professional and helpful. Thanks. I hope you didn’t stop doing them altogether...
+D2theGRecords Which version of Pro Tools are you using, and is it Pro Tools HD or standard Pro Tools? I'd hazard a guess that it has something to do with the Input Monitoring setting.
Hello Paul Steve from Arizona, USA. Question on Pre-roll. For years I have been using pre-roll with a value of :02 to pick on vocal narration and then something happened. My values are set as usual, Pre-roll is selected and when I punch Play/Record on my Digital 003 recording starts from where from where the curser-record point is and NOT with a :02 pre. I've done this a million times and now something has changed or I am losing it. Is there something under Preferences that I might have changed? I can't figure it out. Just found your site and found it VERY useful. Thank you for this service and I will await your expert advice. Steve
Thank you Paul for your videos, we needed something more advanced than what is usually seen on UA-cam ! At 1'04" how do you select the region between the two clips ? Thanks !
+Steve Galante Thanks Steve. I'll be producing more advanced videos very soon. To select the range between 2 clips ( as at 1:04), tab to the end of the first clip then hold down the shift key and tab again.
Thanks for the great PT videos Paul. One question, do you know if there is a way to get the pre-rool to work in loop recording, I haven't figured that one out yet. Cheers Rob

How do I get out the atency after time selection recording? That's getting me crazy
I cannot hear any audio when I arm the track with record, what am I doing wrong?

+mani1147 Thanks Rob. Pre-roll will only work when you first initiate playback. Any subsequent loops will only play the selection, not the pre-roll.
How do you remove the pre-roll flag?
Set the pre roll value to zero
why not simply use quick punch?
Puerco Infernal right question actually I also don't know about it
But pre and post roll looks easy
my pre roll and post roll do not work after doing so. and my arrow is red and when I record it, it can only record from the red arrow.
Are you sure that you have entered the pre and post roll values correctly in the transport window?
@@paulmaunder3007thanks for yr help, later i solved this when i set the value, thank you.
1:36 Thank you!
Cool.
