    Thanks Paul. Very useful video! I learnt new shortcuts. One shortcut I often use is "ctrl+click" to assign multiple outputs to a track. Cheers from Switzerland

      Yes, the multiple output assignment shortcut is a good one too. Thanks!

    Thanks for your video, it was very useful and to the point. Other people tend to not teach methods directly getting to the nuts and bolts of keys to use and how it effects tracks and or controls.

    Fantastic m8 as it doesn’t matter how many times you learn the myriad of Shortcuts you mostly only remember the ones you use all the time, now if only there was a Shortcut for “Yes I’ll have another Guinness thank-you!” ;-)

    You forgot output routing to successive outputs. Meaning, you have 24 busses, and want to output them in one keystroke.
    IF YOU HAVE 24 outputs set in the I/O, or inputs, MAC, command+option+shift changes the I/O in succession.
    Also, Command Shift will MULT an output. Say you need the same buss to goto multiple sources, click control+shift and select the other routing option and now the same source is going to 2 places.
    EXTREMELY handy when you need to make multiple versions in one pass.

    • @paulmaunder3007
      @paulmaunder3007  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, they're useful ones too! The first one you described is known as cascading outputs. Very handy.

    Hey Paul, thanks for this cool video! Learnt some few tricks. I was just wondering if there is way when you have been editing automation using this ctrl+command click shortcut to quickly reverse back to waveform view without browsing the menu?

    • @paulmaunder3007
      @paulmaunder3007  7 років тому +4

      phhadacek There's a really quick way to switch back to waveform view. With commands focus enabled just press the minus key at the top of the keyboard. Pressing this again will toggle between waveform and volume view.

    great video, do you know if is there is a shortcut to copy a plug in (with certain settings) to multiple tracks? instead of alt+clic+ drag the plug in to each of the numerous tracks.

    • @paulmaunder3007
      @paulmaunder3007  7 років тому

      There isn't, unfortunately. The only option which is similar is to that would be to save the settings as a plug-in preset then (in the settings menu within the plug-in) set it as a user default then (in setting preferences at the bottom of the same menu within the plug-in) set the plug-in default to User Setting. This would mean that any subsequent instantiations of that plug-in would be created with those settings as a default. You could select the tracks to which you want to add the plug-in and Option + Shift click on the insert to instantiate the plug-in. All of those tracks would then have the settings on the plug-in. I suppose this would only be quicker than Option dragging a plug-in if you really did have a LOT of tracks on which you wanted the same settings.

    wave plugins don't have the automation function, I can't use start+ctrl to automate plugins, only the pan and volume for me, don't know why. help...

    • @paulmaunder3007
      @paulmaunder3007  4 роки тому +1

      That's because you have to first auto enable a setting. There are multiple ways to do this: within the plug-in click on the control you want to automate while holding down Control, Option and Command (Start, Alt, Control on Windows). Choose 'Enable automation'. Alternatively, click on the plug-in automation enable button near the top of the plug-in (above the word 'safe'). Add parameters to automate there. Finally, if you prefer everything to be auto-enabled from the start, go into the Mixing Preferences of Pro Tools and choose 'plug-in controls default to auto enabled'. Once enabled, you can then view the automation lane by Control Command clicking (Start Control on windows) on the control in question to view its automation lane.

      Setup > Preferences > Editing. You will find the option to change the default fade type in the Fades section of these preferences.

      There's no provision for remapping shortcuts in Pro Tools unfortunately.
