I never start thinking until October at least. It’s too far away for my thinking. I’ve also discovered that my dopamine-hungry brain is disappointed when the new year arrives and I’ve already had the planner a few months! Much more exciting/satisfying to have it nearer the new year.

I understand- I have purchased & tried a5 rings /Kikki k &Filofax & various companies’ inserts, hweeks, hcuz, happy planner mini & classic, jibun weeks, moleskin & eBay a5 cheaper undated weeklyz, plus a custom teachers planner over the years. All the eye candy on UA-cam is a wonderful resource and great inspiration for ideas, but tempting whoa!! Sooo, after all of it I have options by shopping my stash… I have the intention of redating 2x 2023 hobo weeks (1 personal, 1 financial) for next year in a nice leather folio that my hubby bought me on holidays. Had hoped hobo cuz would be the answer to all my needs- but nope. I Loved it, but versatility & size of hweeks won me. The Beauty of most of the trial & error is the beautiful quality of the hobo covers and gorgeous rings binders we buy, I will hang on to those for re-use 1day 😅

Devoted and loyal Hobonichi fan for personal (but W22 for work) but Just Scribbles just announced her new planner which incorporates all the things I love about Hobonichi and Wonderland 222. I have not ever deviated from my usual go-to planners - even when Sterling Ink announced her planner or Papertess or when Take A Note was popular but I think I will this year. Hopefully, I will end up liking the purchase and use throughout the year. Also, wanting a change because my life needs have changed and thinking about putting everything in one planner instead of splitting it up.

I grabbed a Leuchtturm A5 (horizontal weeks with notes opposite) at random the year I retired, and made it work. During the rest of that year I watched endless YT videos on different planners, made copious notes, and ruled out most things. The following year I opted for the A5 filofax version in the same format and have stuck with it now for 5 years, just gathering a wardrobe of covers! I added a Personal size with week-on-two pages a year or so later, and a notebook, and that's it. I'm lucky to have landed on my ideal combo by accident!

This year I'm not looking! I know a hobonichi weeks has worked for me for years. I know a Cousin doesn't. I've got various ring planners I can hop in and out of if I want. Lots of undated notebooks in various sizes too. So my purchases will be a Hobonichi weeks, possibly a Hobonichi A6 and that's it. Im wanting more space and hungry for horizontal layouts. So I caved in and bought the Just Scribbles Horizontal. I was blown away at how much space there is. I think the best you can do is stick with the planner you've got and make it work. This year I'm using the night owl planner and at the time last year when I decided on using it, I also decided that next year, 2025, I want to try a pocket size planner and got it from the Angel shoppe.
The pocket size planner will be more of a Bullet journal as it isn't a pre-printed planner. 🤣 I hope I'll be able to stick to it. 😅
However in 2023 I decided that I wanted to try different sizes, until then I only used A5. This year it's a B6 size and I love it! It's my first time with tomoe river paper too. And not dod-grit! OMG ever since I started my first BuJo I've stuck to did-grit notebooks.
The grit on the Tomoe River paper isn't too dark so I'm ok with it.
I'm obsessed with the paper and the lived-in feeling it gets after a while.

Fully agree on FOMO! I did however preorder Aura Estelle B6 Daily. I know they will most likely be available also later, at least they've been well available this year. It's just that I was excited AE is making my dream planner in 2025 with all the changes they're doing. Also I only have 1 planner total. Notebooks are different, and I prefer them blank.
Early this year I preordered a weekly planner that I had been using last year, as it was a good one, but then understood I was getting overwhelmed with the extra notes sheets on my table. So was able to cancel that preorder, made a post about my thoughts to a local group, tried out Hobonichi Cousin, but after a while felt overwhelmed with the layout. Then I found AE and have been very happy using it. So I've thought the cost of Hobonichi was like taking a course in planner use. Now I have peace and yeah, it's possible I might find something else, but highly unlikely. So far only Papertess has a similar layout, but undated daily pages.

    Great video!
for me it's the opposite, I have been using the weeks for 4/5 years now and this year it was it's down fall because I was treating it as a planner/memory keeper which didn't work and it started to get repetitive so I gave up on it although this year's cover is my ultimate favorite cover out of the hobonichi weeks I have purchased, but I guess it came at the wrong time of my life, so I purchased a Traveler's notebook vertical planner and used it mainly as memory keeping where I decorate and write little things about my days and I completely fell in love. Later this year, I purchased a Filofax personal as a planner and so far it's working very well because I'm not treating it as a planner/memory keeper but just a planner and this worked wonders. I will continue with the vertical for memory keeping and rings for planning for work/personal.

Allllll the planners on YT 😬 lord knows, I have fallen for it. I ordered 2 (2!!) Hobonichi Weeks books this year. The first one didn't work, why did I think the second would?! I bought an A6 that didn't work. I have used the Cousin the last two years and found that not working for me this year either so I abandoned that in June and went back to a plain Stalogy B6 and am bullet journaling again. The pre-printed planners, as great as they are, just don't fit my needs long term. I love the bullet journal can be exactly what I need, as I need it. I have done pages that resemble the Cousin daily pages, the Weeks weekly pages, and the monthlies in a calendar style. It is perfect and I don't see myself going back to a pre-printed book anytime soon. Plus, I get blank pages as I need them (I was really missing those!). Good video! I can't fathom trying to decide 2025 when I am barely halfway through 2024, haha!

Don’t fully love any available layout that I’ve found. Weeks, TAN, and PaperTess B6 come closest to what I want from a layout, (ideal would be month, then 2 spreads per week- one with a TAN style overview on the left and an Alistair method weekly tasks and habits list, then on the right 3 columns to sort priorities, running shopping list, a few other things. The second spreads for journaling and more day specific things. I need a fair chunk of blank grid at the back for collections and note taking. I love the real estate of B6 up to A4 books… but I need the portability of A6 because if I can’t stuff it in my admittedly large pockets, it will be left behind and forgotten. I love Tomoe River paper. I wish I could find Nuuna’s 2.5 micro dot grid as actual grid on Tomoe River in A6, ideally in the layout I described, but I’d still be over the moon with enough pages in that grid and numbered pages. I have A6 520 pg numbered grid notebooks from sterling ink on the way, because I can use those regardless, and I’m experimenting with my layout in my current A6 sterling ink to see if it’ll work as well as I hope. So far it seems the best I’ve found since hitting a planner slump a few years ago (I’ve been a little sporadic ever since)

      @lethbridgepaper  Місяць тому +1

Ever thought about doing pocket rings? Small enough to fit in your pocket, printable Tomoe River paper available, and then you’ve got a whole world of inserts or can even make your own to fit your requirements exactly? I’ve definitely done that at times when I couldn’t quite find what I wanted, but didn’t want to draw everything out in a bullet journal.

I really liked being in the cousin this year (first time) but I've found I really don't like the daily pages. I would go to the weeks, but I don't like horizontal format.
So far I'm heavily leaning toward dipping my toes into Traveler's Notebook, and getting inserts that mimic what I love from the cousin, and extra inserts to return to what I loved with bullet journaling.

I love the A6 TAN because I can just do a running task list and move things between day to day or move it to next week. Next year I will only get Weeks, Cousin and A6 TAN. I have others I just use for journals, and I do not really redate the header, I just write a date of entry in the cousins 5 to do boxes.
Last year I ordered the B6 also, thinking it would sell out. I did not use it, I just never got the job right after graduation and planning became a depressing process for me. Also, it did not sell out. It is their undated Record that seems to sell out more than their A6, A5 and B6. So I am thinking of just re-dating this one also. Just remember the weeks by week number, and cover up the dates. Treat it like an undated that I can jump in and out of as needed. It was going to be a meal planner and health planner for me. it is a planner I impulse bought to fill up the new Mortrim cover I bought, because the common planner by Sterling Ink was a disappointment to me, because I could not see the grid with my 54 year old eyes. I have removed the B6, put a B6 notebook in it and I am happy with it, just have yet to get over a clean notebook, that I am afraid to mess it up.

I buy the Hobonichi cousin every year and plenty of other planners too but the cousin is the one that I use the most. This year, I bought the Hon and the Midori Hibino but haven’t really been using them(I genuinely think I’ve just been a journaling/planning slump) but I’ve decided to try the B6 Papertess Designs Yearly Notebook for 2025 and seeing what happens.
I’ve ordered the undated A5 version of the PTD and the undated version of the Common Planner by Sterling Ink so I’m not wasting my money since it’s not dated. The hobonichi is the only planner that I don’t mind not using it strictly as a planner. Hopefully the fact that I’ll only have the one book (B6 PTD) will allow me to figure out what works for me or if the cousin truly is my planner peace.
