Awesome truck and great sound. Any way you could make another cold start video and show us what you’re doing in the cab to get it started? Would love to see what you’re doing with the throttle pedal. Maybe just put us a little closer to the open drivers door? Subscribed!
@@sebastianketnouvong-ung4502 I’ll buy that. I hauled a lot of coal on mountain roads you wouldn’t think a dirt bike could go in a DM800 300 plus 15spd #55,000 rears
Old man used to put Ethel alcohol or some mixture to keep the fuel from geling... get the old cabover mack to start let it run while he had breakfast up the street Bethlehem Pennsylvania or Pennsyltucky as we call it!! It's honestly genius whoever designed diesels. Who woulda thought a boosted 20:1 cp or even higher with no throttle body all just vacuum basically and compression igniting the diesel would work. Don't have to worry about pre det or knocking. And the fucking fuel pressure some newer trucks use like 20,000psi of fuel pressure before the injectors and the goddamn injectors use fucking crystals in them to open and close. It's like a alien fucking made the design. Same with knock sensors they use a special crystal inside them. If it detects a slight knock it will vibrate the crystal and just vibrating a crystal will produce voltage. That's how the knock sensor works.. diesel injectors use crystals aswll but they add voltage to them and it flexes the crystals or something and opens them for a small amount of time. Another cool thing I never knew diesels don't use throttle bodys they just use fuel pressure to rev. The turbos never even go into vacuum always at 0psi or above that. They are very very different the gasoline.
Pretty close to some of the old 5020's in sound. Reminds me of back in the 90's got cold enough we had to light a fire under the Steiger to get it started.
My 1985 350 Cummins starts that way every morning laughing crying laughing crying not the cold though it's the 335 PT pump and maybe the button that's in it

At 1 time I had a 2003 Mack with a 460 in and and it would start no matter what the temperature was. No my 2007 with a 427 was a different story . Several times I thought the motor was going to bounce itself out of the frame.
@@enginesandoutdoors3238 regardless you're not supposed to crank longer than 30 seconds without a 2 minute break in between otherwise your using the starter like a block heater you'll get it so dam hot. Even better keep knowing better because I make lots of extra money every year changing starters for clowns like you after you melt the brushes out of them. 😘
This is why u add gasoline to diesel when shutting truck down over night in freezing weather. I add two gallons to each tanks never once did it freeze or had hard time starting
@@matthewbrady6451 I drove a E7 in a quad axle dump truck, for a friend when his driver couldn't make it. I could push a 3406E and the Red Cummins QSX up the hills like nothing. They would get on the CB and ask what that dog had under the hood, and it was the E7 at 400 hp
I think one of the big reasons it started is because the starter got so hot it actually was able to heat the water and oil laughing
Most starters on heavy duty diesels are meant to crank like this
What a great sound! Would love to see a super long driving video of this truck, if you still drive it. Please let me know ASAP.

That 39MT now identifies as a block heater.
Mack’s start better cold than most diesels, IDK why but they do.

E7’s also long as the batteries are charged you can get them started up pretty fast

Starting fluid!
Meanwhile back at the

Great video!I am sure that melted a few strands of wire and shortened the starter life but was a great video. Thanks.

Good batteries
Was it look like from the inside
Starter killer! No glow plugs or working flame starting system? It´s painful.
These engines don’t have glow plugs
Is this normal?
Amazing

Some diesel engines just struggle a little-more to start..🤨
