I always liked their duet of "Never Knew Love Like This", which was also a big hit, and thought it to be even better than this. Cherrelle is a really fine singer, but Alexander had one of the great, and highly under appreciated, voices of that era. Such a shame to waste it on drugs and other excesses. It's also a shame you watched the very short version of this great cut. Try Cherrelle doing the original "I Didn't Mean To Turn You On", and Alexander doing "What's Missing".
Yayyyy!!!! I absolutely LOVE this song. This was the short version, there's a long version they would play at the clubs. Their voices were great together and surprised I don't remember any more songs from them. 👍👍👍
They were so smooth, I loved this. Bam! I haven't heard this in ages. I also loved their song "Never Knew Love Like This" it is also really beautiful. There is nothing better than a great duet that has real chemistry.
This is a classic Soul jam from 1985 produced by the great Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis; who’s known for being part of the Prince group The Time and producing most of Janet Jackson’s hits and albums. The song peaked at #2 on the US R&B chart, and became a moderate pop hit peaking at #26 on the US Hot 100 in the spring of 1986. It reached #6 on the UK singles chart, and #7 on the Irish Singles Chart.
love this song! used to listen to both these artists especially alexander o neal."NEVER KNEW LOVE LIKE THIS" was another great duet by these two. alexander o'neals hits are so many take your pick.love the reaction ; )
I was so young when this came out but I've loved it since I first heard it. Fabulous connection between them. Amazing song. This is my proof that they truly don't make music like this anymore
That was so sweet how you 2 we're holding hands during this song! You 2 are so sweet! Thank you for your music. And God bless you both! We love ❤️ you both, too! 😊❤️😊💖
Alexander O'Neal was a part of the music scene in Minneapolis, as I believe was Cherrelle. You know Prince, Jimmie Jam and Terry Lewis, Morris Day and The Time etc. Anyway check out his song If You Were Here Tonight. Killer baby making music for real. Loved this reaction. Peace
Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis did this song for them as the great record producer they are in 1985. Jimmy and Terry were fired by Prince from The Time in 1983 after missing a concert at the same time they were producing an album the SOS Band. Alexander O'Neal was the first lead singer of The Time (Which was created by Prince) but was fired by Prince from them group before they ever did a show or played a note in 1981. The new lead singer would be Morris Day who was the drummer at that time. O'Neal's first album was released in 1985 by Jam and Lewis. Great sons to hear from O'Neal are "Criticize" "Innocent" "What's Missing" and a good Cherrelle song is "I Didn't Mean To Turn You On" 1984.
Please react more to Alexander O'Neil & Cherrelle duets & solo projects. I still listen to their 1st albums. You'll love them. Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis put them together.
It surprises me that this isn't something you know, as they're American, but it could be that the UK crowd was more receptive at the time? You know how it goes sometimes. I'm English and carry this song in my heart to this day. Seeing your reactions really warmed my heart 💗 It's my first time watching you (I stopped by because I love the song), but I swear it could almost have been written for you both! Please listen to more Alexander O'Neal if you haven't already by this point. He has done a few duets with Cherelle - their voices were meant to be heard together. Sending love from England 🏴 💞
Please react to more Alexander O’Neal “If you were here tonight” “When the party’s over” “The lovers” “What’s missing” “Never knew of love like this” w/ cherrelle “Hearsay” “Sunshine” “Everything I miss at home” w/ cherrelle
Great Duets: "The Closer I Get to You"- Donny Hathaway & Roberta Flack, "Come to Me" - James Ingram & Patti Austin, "Love will Follow" - Kenny Loggins & Shanice !!!!!
Alexander O'Neil was a Force of his own! Johnny Gill has that strength and falsetto too! You've got to hear Johnny Gill and Coko 'Fire and Desire!' Or kick it Old School 🏫 with Barry White and 'Baby Blues!' Ashford and Simpson with 'Steady as a Rock!'
Beautiful duet love that song took me back to my younger days another great duet you should listen to is Freddie Jackson and Melba Moore JUST A LITTLE BIT MORE
Alexander O’Neal started he career as a drummer. I believe he was a drummer for the group “The Time” with Morris Day. Prince interviewed him but cut him before he got started. I would encourage the listen to several albums Alexander O’Neal has as a single artist. He’s had numerous hits.
Not sure how old you guys are but you both look enough to have heard this song before. This song was a staple in every black household in the 80’s and 90’s.
Saturday ❤ never on Sunday Monday to soon Tuesday and Wednesday just won’t do. Thursday and Friday we can begin but a Saturday love will never end, Sugar
I loved playing this Album when I worked at The Record Bar in Naples Florida. Have you reacted to The SOS band Just Be good to Me. I wanna see your faces for that one.
New subscriber here. Must say I've really been enjoying the reactions, keep em coming. Also I would love to see you guys react to Blue - Breathe Easy, imo it's one of the most powerful ballads. I'm blown away every time I listen to it, and I believe you 2 will be as well.
This was ALL OVER the London Soul Pirate Radio stations of the 80s
Cherelle & Alexander O'Neil. One of my favorite duos. Such great memories.
