Now that's a RABBIT HOLE worth exploring...The Whispers were one of the MOST popular R&B singing groups of the 1970s....they were unbelievable especially in CONCERT!!!
RIP to Marcus Hutson and Nicholas Caldwell. The Whispers, one of the most underrated groups ever. They specialized in love ballads, you should try Say you (Would love for me too), Pretty lady, Are you going my way, Just gets better with time, In the mood, Give it to me, Love's calling, Is it good to you, Don't be late for love, Come on home. See ya!
The late Nicholas "Barry White Junior" Caldwell produced many of those songs. "Give It To Me" was a quiet storm classic...."Michael J[ackson] or [the] Prince....Ooooooo sweet, sweet layyyyyyyyyyyyy day"
My BELOVED husband /soulmate of 20 amazing years Kossie Gardner played organ and keyboards on this beautiful song. Scottie and Walter surely sang the hell outta it! Kos was a staff writer for So!ar label in the 80s when it was in it's prime and contributed many great hit songs. He sadly passed away in 2009 at the age of 68 in Ecuador where we were living. I assure you he was as beautiful and romantic as this song is and great!y missed by all who new him but no one more than I. He still remains a Hammond B3 organ legend in his own right, as well as one of the great composers and jazz/R&B musicians of the Solar family❤️💐In Loving Memory and Many Thanks to you both for choosing this beautiful classic song. He also played keyboards on the megahit And The Beat Goes On and wrote I Love You for The Whispers. Other groups and artist he wrote for include Shalamar , Glenn Jones(I Am Somebody), Carrie Lucas, (Dance With You). He also wrote for and played on several Lakeside albums. Much Love and Blessings to you both wherever you are in the world and keep your love light burning for each other. I loved watching your reaction to this most endearing love song.❤️
Oh yes. The Whispers. I love them. Back in the 70s, 80s, I remember dancing to " And The Beat Goes On". by The Whispers .Play that one and I feel you will want to get up and dance too.
The blending of a Grand Piano, a Fender Rhodes Electric Piano and a Hammond B3 Organ is pure brilliance and so elegant the way they switch leads and backing each other…… Sweet
Love you guys. Great reaction. Just for reference Mel. He sings "you say you want my babies. Girl if that's a fact, then melt into me lady, as though we were wax. Erase all my maybes..Will you do that for me lady".
One of my all time favorite groups. These guys are so smooth Been around since the mid 60s you should check out their earlier recordings massive library of songs one of the greatest soul harmony groups 🔥🔥🔥✌️
My all time favorite group...Thanks for reacting...This is my favorite song by them...They have a deep rabbit hole with a lot of great songs...The lead singers identical twins (Wallace and Walter Scott) are great singers.
This is why I love watching y'all reaction to old school r&b. Why my generation fell in love with the music of our day. Especially, the beautiful love songs....Shawn gets it.....lol ❤ Keep it up guys👍👏👏
❤ We would listen to Motion of the Ocean radio station in Southern Cali listening all night long to these great R&B groups………..it was not easy to go to sleep or wake up the next morning to go to work.
Love them! Love this song! Love your reaction. Love to hear men proclaim there love Check out the Manhattans We Made It. The Temptations This is My Promise To You. Bloodstone singing Natural High. Isaac Hayes Going in Circles.
One of the greatest groups of all time but very under appreciated…. BET should honor these legends…. Checkout more of these brothers catalog….. Wet My Feet is another classic
The Whispers are one of the greatest groups of the 70's 80's and 90's! The catalog of hits is long! Three of my favorite songs are......"You Are Number One", "Olivia (Lost And Turned Out)", "Rock Steady" and soooooo many more! This is a group you need to know! Walter and Scotty Scott, twin brothers and front men of the group are still performing today! They had a date in Atlantic City Mother's day weekend!
The Whispers were one of my favs. Check them out with "Keep On Lovin Me", "And The Beat Goes On", "Its a Love Thing", "In the Raw", "Tonight", "Just Gets Better With Time", "Contagious" and "Some Kinda Lover".
straight up fire ! and i'm not ashamed to admit i remember what it was like to get my slow dance groove on to this song , pure magic , thanks for posting this yall . one love .
I’m sure you realized the minute you heard that first note, this was not a rendition of Kenny Rogers, Lady. Lol. Now me and The Whispers go waaaay back! You can’t go wrong with this mellow group from Watts, South Central L.A. Now do yourself a favor, you can thank me later, and check out the album “For your ears only,” and check out the title cut. Did I tell you, you can thank me later?
You have just stepped into a rabbit hole. The Whispers have been around since 1963 and had many great r&b hits. The lead singers are the identical twin brothers Wallace "Scotty" and Walter Scott. The sound so much a like that you think its one singer.
Beautiful song... But the way they shot the Video you wouldn't know it is a Set of Twin Brothers sharing the Lead in this Group.... LOL Tricks are for Kids..
I know I'm late.... but I was waiting for u both to see that it was not one person singing lead they are identical twins. Check them out more and u will see.
Time to slow dance to a fantastic Motown / type group🥰💕 Smooth & sexy 🎼This is why I have always been a Motown lady, when this type of music came out, you just can’t resist his voice & his soul brothers backup - get dancing you two 🤣
They had the hits! Ballads like this one and Dance tunes like “Rock Steady”. Check out some of their recordings from the 60s as well, like “Seems Like I Gotta Do Wrong”. Classic stuff!
I know yall like those county songs that tell a good story, I love the reactions! So please check out this oldie, Roses for Momma by Red Sovine. Its defiantly a heart breaker.
I was waiting for your reaction for 6:40 and on... first time I heard this song, I never knew this type of love, but I knew I would want to dedicate his to omeone one day... This was definitely the perfect song for you to react to...I love the love you both have for each other, and adore that you show subtle moments of affection towards each other during the reactions... If you guys think this is romantic, you should react to "Are You Going My Way" by the whispers - I guarantee you guys will be sitting in one seat by the end of the song - smile!
This is so sensual and if you listen to In the Mood (Official Video) you may have to pause the video to "regroup". Keep on Loving Me (Official Video), Olivia and many more. They are an invitation to head down the rabbit hole!
Hi Shawn and Mel, I love the Whispers. I truly believe Motown of the 60's - 80's has the some of the most romantic music of any genre, that I have heard. Motown music really expresses the beauty of love in all it's facets. I love it when you play these songs that I haven't heard in years. Many of them I have forgotten. It reminds me how much I enjoyed them and brings back all those emotions I had in my younger years. I have been having a lot of fun adding them into my Playlist, and slow dancing with my husband on the kitchen floor :) The channel just keeps getting better and better. So happy to be part of the S and M Squad.
This is what I do to get you in the mood, keep on loving me and The beat goes on, Olivia the slave The whispers will get you in that mood every time ain't nothing like driving through Los Angeles with a drink in your hand with The whispers on ain't nothing like it.
Actually Kenny Roger's "Lady" is an extension of Lionel Richie's "Three Times a Lady" when you know that Lionel wrote both of those songs and Kenny Roger's wanted Lionel to write him a song like "three times a lady".
This is a great R&B group that started out in the 60's. Some of their hits are "And The Beat Goes On", "Keep On Lovin' Me", "It's A Love Thing", "Love Is Where You Find It", "Are You Going My Way", "Rock Steady", "Lost & Turned Out" etc.
There is one song I haven't heard on any you tube channel so for, whether you were in the club, apartment club house or house party this song was always played,Cause I Love You by Lenny Williams, classic love song of the late seventies.Check it out.

Glad you guys enjoyed this. The Whispers have a great catalog that you need to dive into. And yes those 2 lead singers are twins.
Shawn & Mel! The song was sung by twin brothers Wallace Scott and Walter Scott, who sing lead vocals for The Whispers! Peace!!!
The late Nicholas Caldwell (write, arranged, and produced the whole song)...Rest In Paradise, Barry White Jr. (bka Nicholas Caldwell).
