Love the story behind these little known stamps (at least by me). I like the design and color of this set issued by China but also think the Swedish Czeslaw Slania stamp memorializing Sven Hedin is the real stunner .
Interesting story behind nice looking stamps, Ted. Kinda surprised that the stamps are valued at such a low price. I have never seen them but will keep my eyes open in case I happen to see them. Good video once again, always enjoyable content!
Yeah, that's the thing with stamps. They're not valued according to their beauty or their importance, but by supply and demand. There are many stamps that are in short supply but which, fr one reason or another, simply don't have any collector demand. It makes it nice for the collectors who do want them though, as they can pick up some relatively hard-to-find stamps for low prices.
Hi Karen. I agree. There's another China set of 3 from 1909 Imperial China featuring the Temple of Heaven. I bet you'll like it. www.seemystamps.com/image/china-scott-131-33-1909.m6HWp
That must have been a wonderful expedition - so many disciplines, and no micro-management. Good environment for science to happen. So interesting that stamps were sold to finance some of the expenses of the expedition. The stamps are very special. I am so glad to see another video from you, Ted. Your videos never fail to bring so much knowledge and are so enjoyable. Thank you for making time among all the changes in your life!!!!!!
I loved your 100th video, Ted. Sorry I watched it so long after you posted it! Only now had time to view YT videos - and I watched yours as soon as I saw it. 🙂@@tedtalksstamps

I encountered this set not too long ago, but it’s so nice to hear so much more of the history behind it. Great video as always. Happy Stamping Ted!

I have paired this set with a few trading cards and books written by Sven Hedin.
Interesting. What are the trading cards?
@@tedtalksstamps They are tobacco cards from the early 1900's.
Very interesting episode, thanks for sharing.
