The last mile will be solved via robots if they can solve the problem of people not being home for the delivery and awkward size packages. Amazon has a serious problem now with faulty deliveries made by people who are more worried about speed than accuracy.
Too many variables to automate last mile shipping. Sounds simple in concept. But once you delve into the details and the various circumstances that can be encountered approaching different homes, you realize a robot can’t do it. You would have to individualize each robots route. As each one would encounter different roads, homes, apartments, and there various styles, driveways, sidewalks, etc. The most difficult being apartments, condominiums etc. Because these never follow an easy ground plan. They vary wildly. Then you would have to account for difficult weather. Rain, snow, heat, ice, wind etc. a machine in a factory or wear-house doesn’t have to worry about this. Now that it’s outside on a daily route, it has to account for it. Maintenance would also be comparably high for its usage and route difficulty. Then you would also have to take into account theft. How easy would it be to intercept and rob your machine? Once you really think about it. Automating last mile shipping is very difficult. And probably not worth the trouble
Can Alibaba offer a refund if goods are held at the custom? The answer is no! Also, in the past, when there were quality issues, I needed to deal with the factory in China. Amazon steals from sellers and encourages fraudulence under the name of customer centric.
I am working for JD logistics who started to build its own logistic network at similar time when amazon tried to do the same thing in China. Amazon failed in China. JD logistics just listed in Hong Kong this year. we have warehouses with robots working there. JD logistics is famous for its speedy delivery. If you place you orders before noon, you can receive your parcels the same day, especially if you lived in big cities.
this is nice and good but didnt the EU introduce a new law where u have to pay up to 10EU tax when ordering from China.
You almost always need to pay around 20% of the total product+shipment price in EU for tax when it’s shipped from non-EU counties

USPS is the weak link in the chain. When goods from Alibaba arrive in the US the postal service slaps another label with a different tracking number over the top of the original one. When you are trying to track several packets its a total nightmare.
The problem of the counterfeit in China is that there is no concept of counterfeit.
Joe Bidens infrastructure plan is a copy of Chinas
Good luck with Alibaba Returns
72 hours or 72 days? from my experiences, one out of 10 never arrive and there is absolutely no customer service to work with. I am staying with Amazon since they can resolve all issues ASAP such as returns.
My hobby is jigsaw puzzles. Many European companies don't ship to the US, and won't sell via Amazon. BUT they do sell via AliExpress. The AliExpress orders show up within two to six weeks, which is fine for me. Just happy to get my hands on these coveted European puzzles. 😁
Yeah... it will be interesting to see how Alibaba executes their plans. Amazon is customer obsessed - that's their whole ethos. I pay for Prime because I have full confidence in Amazon's policies and how they treat their customers. I just don't see the same thing with Alibaba. A lot of things from China are not just inexpensive, they're "cheap". Their goods are cheap, their service is cheap, etc. There's more to selling than just cutting prices. We will see...
You want cheap price but not cheap quality? This is business not charity. Every single penny you pay matters.
Amazon is more expensive than other online retailers. Sometimes it's 10-20 perfect. I think it's a rip-off.
You forget that most of the world's products are manufactured in China, and because they don't have copyrights, these products are learned, reverse engineered, and made into high quality, cheap cost Chinese origin products. In this way, Chinese manufacturers and brands are surpassing foreign brands who simply cannot compete on price. I've witnessed this myself as a user of lighting technologies; the Chinese brands were cheaper in quality 10 years ago but with the western brands manufactured in China being reverse engineered, the Chinese quality has improved significantly while still retaining that low price. The future for western products is quite grim.
This is not merely about between two tech e-commerce giants. But the retailers are affected as well.
I prefer AliExpress to Amazon. But in India, AliExpress is banned and thats sad news
It’s good that AliExpress is banned in India because China is literally stealing I Dian land and killing Indian soldiers. Why would India want to help China?

*Alibaba website looks like Amazon?!? You got completely backward 🤣*
That's going to be a very bold claim. Most likely impractical. Think about all the air fuels it needs, the amount of aircrafts, the cost of truck deliveries within the countries. I highly doubt it's going to happen.
Nothing is impossible for Chinese.
They will have logistic centers and warehouses in every country. They will not fly it 100%.

How can they say in 72 hours will be delivered, I am a customer for almost three years in Ali express most of the time frame delivery was two weeks from China to Canada. Sometimes if you unlucky the parcel was lost in shipment, It happen many times. If China Ali express or Alibaba want to compete in Amazon its take a decade before they can say can be delivered for 72 hours.
There you go fellas...dropshipping might finally take it's last breath or "be dead" as some people (losers) say.
The opposite actually
Thank you! 1:56
😑I ordered a item from China and the fastest cost me quite a bit and arrived around 2 weeks🙄, the normal shipment was estimated over a month.
The problem is a lot of consumers outside of China are wary of the merchants on Alibaba. If they can promise customers peace of mind by doing a high level of QA, then Amazon will be in trouble.
07/19/2021 - Amazon: "Our terms have changed. Any dispute or claim relating in any way to your use of any Amazon Service will be adjudicated in the state or Federal courts in King County, Washington, and you consent to exclusive jurisdiction and venue in these courts. We each waive any right to a jury trial."
Competition is necessary but it is to be healthy , helpful and satisfactory to the consumers .
In a small country, or a small, busy city (like Seoul or Hong Kong for example), "fast delivery" is understandable.
But in a continental, or global scale? I question - WHY?
what are you stupid it improves economic efficiency for everyone and everyone deserves convenience not just city dwellers
@@sophisticatedthumb5364 I think he meant to ask how 🤔
@@sophisticatedthumb5364 well for the sake of economic efficiency and universal convenience, we all end up paying for them by either global scale pollution or added cost whether by capital or human resources.

If you look at the world map, you see why China got the idea of BRI. Similar ideas can never happen with South Korea (a small country, both people and territory) or Japan (an Island country).
Customs clearance from one month to a few minutes, wow...game changer
Obviously Alibaba is the middleman; to claim it cuts out the middleman is silly or dishonest.
Technically it’s a platform which will always exists in some form.
Alibaba is the middleman, and amazon is a second middleman.
Don't forget the dropshippers
amazon sellers buy and re-label stuff from alibaba, so yeah, they cut the middle man.
The middle man is from the perspective of Aliexpress. Alibaba has a well established B2B business too, which serves lots of Amazon sellers.

The CO2 emissions from this are just going to be horrendous. So much for even pretending we're doing something.
Luckily, China is also the country that invested most in the green mobility and green energy
I bought from Amazon and Alibaba from the same place. While Alibaba usually take 1 month for shipping, Amazon only need 1 week. And it's international delivery from exact same country. And in my opinion it will stay like that for the future as well.
I'm not dunking on Alibaba, I still use it. I'm just stating facts.
This is soooooo unsustainable we really need to check our spending and living habits.

Amazon has advantages in the last mile shipping and localization, while Aliexpress has advantages over prices and goods options. And therefore Amazon will still be the best e-seller in local brands and foods, and Aliexpress, to many DIYers, will be the dream grocery stores for those hard-to-find parts. As many people already mentioned, however, lots of Amazon's 3rd party sellers actually import their goods from Aliexpress, which proves that they are not just competitors but also friends.still a
I've ordered from them. It always takes 4-16 weeks to get my package. The packages have all been in good shape and what I ordered worked fine. But it takes forever to get to you
Depends on where you live, what you ordered, and sometimes when you ordered. Sometimes they need to send items in batch to reduce the cost. You are unlucky if your item is the first few ones in the batch. I have ordered several times, some comes 2 months after shipped, some only 2 weeks.
If they can pull it off then bye bye amazon considering almost all of products in amazon were bought from alibaba
Shipping isnt even the biggest issue here. The issue here is the return.
@@wds3222 the majority of amazon returns go in the garbage. I've had to return things to aliexpress, they usually say "keep it, we'll send you the right one"

"Alibaba"
*Gets an Alibaba ad*
Edit: I tried it again, got another Alibaba ad.
Can Alibaba offer a refund if goods are held at the custom? The answer is no! Also, in the past, when there were quality issues, I needed to deal with the factory in China. Furthermore, if I needed a refund from the seller, the experience was very unpleasant. Alibaba is no more than a shell company!
Imagine knowing you’ll be seen in a video by Wall Street Journal, but you see yourself like this. 5:05
I insist they both deliver my packages within 5 minutes... that's waiting long enough!
Forget 5 minutes, instant delivery with Stargate technology. The technology becomes open source so any company can have it. Then why stop at that with instant traveling to your destination.
the Tax between countries could be a big problem since it's related to policies that could change constantly
That matter is currently receiving very close attention. Expect a significant statement soon. Ebay(UK) is already adding UK VAT on goods shipped from China.
