Thankful that both of you got back home safely. Their was an angel sitting on your handle bars. FWIW..... Years ago, one of my brothers hit a bad spot in the road, ended up going down an embankment followed by a stay in the hospital. Don't think he ever rode again. Around here, it doesn't take crossing a state line to see a difference in quality of "infrastructure". Often, it's simply crossing a county line. Ranging from maintenance to traffic, it's quite obvious. Especially when crossing the county line south of me.
The lack of heavy traffic was one thing that impressed me with your prior ride. A beautiful thing to see. That's disappeared around here, even on our 2 lane blacktop, that was one of the last to be paved, in this county.
Hope each of you have a great day. God Bless & Godspeed.

The difference in traffic between the two states is bewildering since both states have an economy largely based on oil and gas. My theory is that Louisiana has such a massive quantity of those on the dole and can’t afford to keep the roads up.

We’re headed from Tennessee down to Louisiana next week. Going to Natchitoches to visit family. There’s a place in Zwolle where we go to get tamales. It’s not a restaurant. The place has always been very clean. I usually buy 5or 6 dozen to bring back to Tennessee. We also bring back some meat pies from Natchitoches. And you’re right about the roads, if you didn’t have dentures when you got there, you will have them by the time you leave, because the roads will vibrate all your teeth out.

About 40 years ago, I went through Zwolle and bought some at a road side stand. I liked them. I wish I could have found a better place. I drove this roads around there for a couple years when I was doing oil field work. I do not remember the roads ever being this bad.

The only times I ever went into Louisiana was when I was going from my home in Irving (Dallas) to my folks house for Christmas when I lived in Texas.
    We took I-20 over to Shreveport...down 49 to Baton Rouge...then I-10 to Mobile, AL...701 miles door-to-door.

I can tell you that after 2/3rds of my life spent driving the interstates in every state, Louisiana has the worst roads without question. They also have the highest incidences of road rage on the interstate and the highest rate of shootings on the roads. Oh, one more notable accomplishment,,, the have the highest rate of uninsured drivers than any other state. It’s a true democrat shithole.

It’s the same in any state. Wherever democrats have been in control for any length of time, crime rises, businesses leave, roads crumble, good cops leave, D.C. ,Chicago, Detroit,Portland, Austin, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Shreveport. City after city that the dems gain control of , turn into cess pools of humanity, yet, there is no danger of people recognizing that and changing how they vote. Our country is doomed because there are so many stupid people that can’t connect the dots.
