  • An educational video to help understand the differences between "solid" wood flooring and "engineered" wood flooring.
It might sound like engineered hardwood is “fake” wood, but this is not true. It’s 100% real wood with no two planks looking exactly alike, unlike laminate flooring, which mimics the look of wood.
Where hardwood is solid wood, engineered wood is a composite. It has a layer of natural wood over a few layers of premium plywood. Each layer is set with the grain at a cross angle to help reduce expansion or contraction and for more stability overall.
Both of these wood flooring options would enhance any home, but each offers different strengths.
Our Austin showroom has hundreds of hardwood samples with a smorgasbord of colors, textures, plank widths, species, finishes and price points for every taste and budget. Request an estimate or an appointment with one of our experienced sales professionals: austinflohr.com/estimate/
