    Laowa 10mm is definitely a competitor but at a larger price point but with more features to offer. Great info for a new lens design.

    Legend has it this lens was used to create the Megamind "No bitches?" meme.
    Joking aside, this seems like a really interesting lens!

    Don't care much about this lens, but the video was very fun. And very good photos!

      Haha thank you! I know it’s a bit niche so I wanted to make the video as entertaining as possible 💖

    I was considering this lens briefly because I wanted a wide angle lens for shooting real estate stuff indoors but saw the laowa 9mm f2.8 on eBay for $200 and I really like it, also fun for astrophotography

      That is a APSC lens! Not full frame :)
      will be like a 13.5mm on a full frame camera.

      You are correct, I didn’t catch you were shooting full frame. The laowa is still a good lens, curios how it would look on full frame - side question, what flash do you use on your xpro1?

    Nice Matthew! Thank you for the video. Love the snaps you got on the BrightinStar. I ❤ what the chinese lens companies are doing. I have the TTArtisans 11mm f/2.8 for L Mount. Yeah it’s great having f/2.8 but for video you can’t get a filter on it. I set it up hyperfocal and use it like a GoPro that shoots vision you actually want to use.

      Yeah it’s awesome seeing Chinese manufacturers really doing some oddball things at good prices and at surprisingly great quality!
      Is the TTArtisan lens a fisheye?

      @@rudermanphoto not a circular fisheye, similar deal to the BrightinStar. Great for catwalk fashion if you get them walking straight up to it on the runway. Very 90s R&B clip style.

    Compare it pls with the laowa 9 mm 5.6

      Would love to if I had the Laowa!
      The Laowa has a closer focus distance of 0.12m but unsure what other differences there are between them.

    try 7artisans 4mm for apsc, translates to 6mm ff)

      Isn’t that a fisheye? I would love to try some fisheye lenses but having a non fisheye 9mm is just nuts imo

      @@rudermanphoto yeah it's not rectilinear , laowa has a 9mm 2.8 which I think is the widest rectilinear for apsc

      @@replaygoplay7919 yeah I saw that Laowa one, initially I thought it was full frame which would have been mental but they only do a 5.6 in full frame.

    Wasn't Fallen Angels shot on Super 35 though ?

    • @rudermanphoto
      @rudermanphoto  Місяць тому +2

      Online it says both 35mm film and Super 35, it probably was shot on S35, and it certainly doesn’t look AS exaggerated as this lens, but the reason I brought it up was more so as inspiration behind using such wide lenses for more then just the standard architecture/landscape stuff they’re so commonly used for.
      Also 6.8mm*1.5 is 10.2mm so the widest lens came somewhat close to this 9mm!

    I wonder if this covered GFX 😂

    • @rudermanphoto
      @rudermanphoto  Місяць тому +1

      I imagine you could use it on GFX, I know lots of full frame lenses work fine - might just have a little crop.
      If they made a L-GFX adapter I could test it for you with a friends camera but idk if that exists haha
