*Have you ever heard the tragedy of Oliver Cromwell the First?* *I thought not. It’s not a story the Parliament would tell you. It’s a historical fact. Oliver Cromwell was the main general of the English forces; both a powerful political theorist and a shrewd politician, he could use religious revolutionaries to influence England to kill its ruler and become a regent. He had such a influence as the Lord Protector that he could even keep the nation he cared about from foreign invasions. The dark side of the dictatorships is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful that the only thing he was afraid of was losing his tyrannical power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he has shown the history everything he has done, thus became known as a king in all but name.* *Ironic. He has demolished monarchy, but then became one himself*
Being the sole ruler is not a necessarily evil, as long as you rule with the wellbeing of the governed in mind. The world has had many monarchs and other world leaders who have governed with little if any care for the governed and yet have received little scrutiny and elicited little animosity. In fact they have garnered undo adoration. Cromwell appears to have genuinely cared for the people of his kingdom
Because the parliament he assembled was ass, and the Commonwealth of England (Basically the English republic) was a failure with all the bickering that went on in his new parliament.
But Cromwell did not want to kill the King, he was forced to by his party and the people. Why did we fight him, and not execute him were the cries of the people. After all Cromwell was deeply religeous and killing Kings Crowned under God was not a done thing, even by many forienge invaders. Please excuse poor spelling lol
What nonsense is this? Why do you presume no-one has heard of Oliver Cromwell? Do you really think you are so smart? Why do you say Parliament wont tell the story? It has never been a secret. It is a part of English, history taught in school for centuries. I'm not sure where you are from, but in Britain we don't rely upon our government to keep us informed about history, we have freedom and education. You have many things wrong. Cromwell was not a political theorist. He was a politician and a military leader. Cromwell was not the driving force behind the execution of the king. He did not use religious revolutionaries. He was never a regent. A regent is a temporary ruler appointed when a monarch is ill or otherwise unable to rule for a short period. He did not lose his tyrannical power, he died in office. He did not become a monarch. Although he acted like one, he refused the offer of becoming a king. And finally, "the dark side of the dictatorships is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural." What garbage is this?
oliver cromwell was the first person in english history in 587 years to rule england as a native english person and last, before him everyone was of norman ancestry
Why? Catholicism brought Western Civilization to the world, Protestantism brought us division and weakened Christianity. The greatest haters of Catholicism, which was established by the Apostles was Protestants. As a Catholic, I know this to be true because I am a Catholic. At one time, in England, priests were killed in horrible ways. Isn't it strange that, torture was blamed on Catholics while it was Protestants doing the killing.
Cromwell stepped up and became the man his nation needed, and enacted badly needed reforms, unfortunately after his death men without vision returned the country to the enslavement of the monarchy
I believe every proud American should watch, listen, and learn from this video, in that the seeds of the American Revolution were sown by this man - Oliver Cromwell.
We are British for we are all Anglo-Celtic on these islands. And Cromwell was actually Lord Protector of Great Britain and Ireland, not just England. There are no "British enemies", it is the Union that gave us our strength to build an Empire and defend ourselves from other Empires. Without it we would be speaking French, Spanish, German or Russian!
Missed a trick by not including Benny Hill-esque music, while a list of all the battles & sieges that weren't shown (or even referenced) rolled - & next to them, instances of all the necromancy & delayed deaths of so many people...
I support Cromwell and we need another now, but I have to admit to leaning towards being a Leveller. Cromwell shot some of the Levellers who believed in votes for all including those who fought in the New Model army who didn't have the vote and to ensure true democracy. Cromwell didn't actually believe in votes for all. Some of the Levellers even thought that women should get the vote!! Follow the Sea Green flag!
A great movie but nothing like the real events. One major flaw was that Cromwell did not drive forward the execution of the king. He was only one of 59 signatories to the death warrant and had not yet taken political control. The scene of him almost forcing the others to sign has no historical validity.
A nonsensical and emotive title to this article; King Charles the second was a traitor to the English Reformed Protestant faith and worked to undermine our constitution - taking a cue from his very evil father, who sowed the seeds of the demise of the Stewart Royal line, for they all eventually favored a return to Rome, but thank God, William of Orange came to our rescue, and kicked the last remnants of that unhappy breed off the throne. Kings are not divine in the sense that they are chosen because of their birth into a certain family; they are divine only in the sense that God has allowed them to conquer a people - like William of Normandy, who had no claim to the English crown other than the sword he brandished in his hand, and God; in his permissive will, allowed a tyrant to assume the throne. The defeat of the nobility in England in the seventeenth century could be an example of God's permissive will to bring just government to the kingdom, but as one of the regicides said on the scaffold, the people chose to go back to their servitude rather than the freedom they had been delivered from. Thank God I say again that William of Orange restored the gains of our protectorate parliament and so it has continued to this day, but an overweening fawning respect for the institution of the monarchy works against the purpose of God in establishing our freedoms.

His goal was NEVER against monarchy as a political institution. His goal was to depose a king who no longer represented his subjects.
Because the parliament he assembled was ass, and the Commonwealth of England (Basically the English republic) was a failure with all the bickering that went on in his new parliament.

@@desilanni8144 England was always going to be Protestant, one way or another, it is just in our nature to do so.
Alfred the great would have vehemently opposed him

I think our present times are calling for an Oliver Cromwell

I do have a video about the Leveller Edward Sexby :)
The Levellers were gay and cringe for wanting democracy and equal rights of women and God bless Cromwell for oppressing your ilk
God save England. Only He can preserve it now.
