"Rey being positioned the Obi-Wan in the new trilogy" Is such i spit in the fans faces. We got a Rey trilogy, and Obi-Wan got shafted in a dog shit series.
Same, I think that's what everyone should do. SW community should write a new 7-9 to replace the current one, consider it canon and ignore future disney production
That’s not even an opinion that’s fact, just because someone buys the name rights to something it doesn’t mean they can just say something is or isn’t canon in a story they never had any part of, they tried to say clone wars wasn’t canon when they first bought it and all the fans said fuck off and they backtracked. George Lucas’ Star Wars is not the same as Disney’s Star Wars even if they base their version off George’s work. It’s essentially just heavily funded fan fiction

@@toodlepopWhich is already an inherently flawed idea because it's already been established by Lucas that having a high midi-chlorian count doesn't make you a master of the Force by default. Some things may come to you easier due to your stronger connection with it, but you still need to train yourself to hone your skills. The minimal training Rey received is nowhere near what Luke got on Dagobah or even what Anakin got during his time with the Jedi Order and as Darth Vader. The fact of the matter is Rey is essentially a stand-in for Kathleen Kennedy's feminist ideals and is written to be inherently better at literally everything. She forgot one thing though, and that's the fact that SW already has established rules of the universe in it and has for decades.
Hopefully this cycle won't happen for long and the right men and women get promoted to the executive roles eventually when Disney decides they love money and make the right decisions. I'm just gonna be in a time capsule like Eric Cartman waiting for the Wii for a couple decades and hope they make Star Wars EU actual canon and make movies and shows about it. Off topic, if anyone hasn't read (or listened to audiobooks) of Star Wars EU they are SOO damn good. Highly recommend.
Maybe she will train the next generation of Sith, that would be an interesting twist to see. I know I shouldn't get my hopes up but there is nothing wrong with dreams.
We won’t get any great Star Wars content unless it’s from dedicated fans and content creators like you who have the mindset and position to influence thousands and to say what we’re all thinking and wanting. I salute you 🫡
Honestly, the only way to fix Rey, is to make her a Sith. It would make sense. Palatine fed her the knowledge over the years. She completed what Palatine wanted by striking Him down. If she was the big bad, it would make sense. And bring in new heroes. Maybe bring in the lost Skywalkers.
This is literally the only path they have left that can save the franchise. Have a dystopian future where Rey Palpatine has corrupted the Jedi Order and presents a bunch of Sith she trained as fake Jedi. Finn is the last hope for the galaxy, all his old friends having been slaughtered by Rey’s forces, and trains under Luke’s ghost in preparation to face her.
KK just doesn't seem to have a single marketing instinct in her body, which is truly a marvel considering how she's been involved in Hollywood since back when Jesus was still alive. Like, Rey's action figures have always sold like utter crap, even accounting for the video game era's drop in toy sales. The character has barely been touched with a stick by any tie-in material since 2019. You have absolutely no other recognizable OT or PT stars to fall back on, the by far least popular (in ratio to screen time) character introduced by Disney, has to helm the whole thing. And you're still going to bank like $800 million (or however much this trilogy is expected to cost) on it just miraculously working out. Is this lady out of her freaking mind?
I kind of feel sorry for Daisy Ridley. I didn’t really hate the character of Rey, but I didn’t love her. Like you said, she gained everything too easily. She was somewhat interesting in TFA when you had the parentage mystery, but Rian Johnson just shit all over all that. Then they did a 180 and made her a Palpatine which I kind of hated more because it made it the “Palpatine Saga” instead of the “Skywalker Saga”. I just hope they give her something decent to work with. She seems like a good actress. I hope they bring back Finn and Poe as well.
Revan? Vitiate? Bastila Shan? Bane? Plagueis? EU Luke? Mara Jade? Book Thrawn? Darth Talon? Darth Krayt? (and I can continue forever). Even Cal Kestis or Ahsoka stories are better. No... fuck all of these guys, REY is our best asset... Disney is so pathetic...
@@Ravenfanatic5 when sequels got announced I actually thought it will be either Thrawn trilogy or Yuuzhan Vong War... but they made up new shit and totally fucked it
I like Zam Wessel too because she’s hot AF, and Jango and Zam are a million times better together than Boba and Fennec. That 2002 Bounty Hunter game is still a blast to play.
If they use her as a teacher like kenobi? No. Only way they could save Rey is to have had some major figure pulling the strings behind the scenes and giving Rey all of her powers unknowingly. Using her to destroy Palpatine for their own gain. New big bad that throws her away when they are done, leaving her powerless, and have to scratch and claw her way back to being powerful again. Maybe this would cause her to be vulnerable enough to have some dichotomy in the dark and light enough to be an interesting character.
@@SlayerPDX meh I’m not attached to the idea, I’m literally spitballing, I’m definitely open to hearing better ideas on how to save the character, if it’s at all possible. Biggest point would be to make her vulnerable enough to fall, but strong enough to come back in a meaningful way.
The blue tiddy milk shot is the personification of Disney milking Starwars. They drink it even though they don't really like it or understand it but that's all they got, blue tiddy milk from a beached sea cow.
Let’s not be too quick to dismiss this project. I’m hopeful that lessons have been learned and something of value will come of this. Daisy is a good actress and she has enough industry clout now to demand some better writing.
Yes been saying this for a while. If you’re losing this much money hand over fist, year after year you typically change something. They’re doubling down so you have to question whether this ‘failure’ is actually seen as a ‘success’ in their eyes. maybe the plan is to make a whole fan base apathetic, they will eventually go away or die and you’re then left with the new generation of kids who have been brought up to accept this woke, AI written sludge.
I've said it before and I'll say it again - the sequels, for all their faults, actually set up an interesting world-state for Star Wars. The New Republic has been destroyed, the First Order is gone, and the Resistance is little more than a few hundred fighters strong. Yes, there is that ad hoc fleet at the end of Episode 9, but that is not a coherent force that will hold the galaxy together. In short, we have no centralised Galactic authority in Star Wars for the first time in 1000 years (and arguably significantly longer). We could see the Galaxy split into multiple factions, which would be something truly new for the setting. And just as Rey's arc in the last 3 films was about her finding her own identity, she could now be looking to establish a Jedi Order in a galaxy where there is no longer a Galactic Republic for the Jedi to be aligned with. There's A LOT of potential here.
Do what I do and just rewatch all the OG stuff up to episode 6, clonewars, rebels, bad batch, then deliberately not watch the literal garbage that is 7-9. (resistance gets a soft pass, they had to bank on 8-9 having actual stories to build off of, otherwise it had potential to be good)
@@kellscorner1130 I do that and I am also rereading the legends stuff starting with Heir to the Empire and building a new canon in my head (some legends stuff needs to be filtered out)

@@mrdevindean1 He's technically right though: The "Sequels" made TFA: $2.7B, TROS: $1.07B, TLJ: $1.33B. Rogue One grossed $1.05B. Solo (like Rogue One) is not a _sequel,_ it's "A Star Wars Story" - even says so in each of their titles. The "Sequels" are 3 movies and, as movies go, they did quite well. But those dollars were built on a trust that no longer exists because you are also right. If anyone thinks Disney Star Wars is currently on a financially viable path (this project included), they are the moron.
The sequel trilogy tried to make her the next "Anakin" being "the chosen one". This new trilogy they're setting up to have a kenobi-type role. Fun fact: she'll never be as good as OGs let alone a sensible character to replace their roles. The envy is real with Disney trying so hard to copy and paste George's formula into their garbage products.
The algorithm feeds me these SW videos every once in a while. I can’t even bring myself to care enough about Star Wars anymore to even finish an 8 min video.
Padawan: “Master Rey, can u teach me how to do the jedi mind trick?” Rey: “Of course, close ur eyes then just do it, thats how u master any force ability”
As someone who was blown away watching Star Wars in a multiplex theater when it was originally released and has had the good fortune to be entertained and moved by each of the movies that followed, I look forward to seeing what comes next to theaters. My advice to the back seat drivers is what we said in the 60's about attending a Rock & Roll concert, "either go with the flow or get a headache". Your karma.
Because it's the only word they could work with that would get a tiny bit of interest of the 3-4 fans that are left. They know no one likes Rey but KK desperately wants to keep spreading 'the message' and tries to catch a few fans with the word "Skywalker". Of course we all know no one's gonna watch these movies, or at least I won't but KK has proven that she has no idea how her shows will perform and always thinks she's gonna make the next Blockbuster. And even if no one likes her shit she still thinks it's a Blockbuster😂
Rey’s characters has such great potential, Disney just doesn’t know how to write a loved character tbh. Rey should rebuild the order and train Jedi, darth maul should come back as a force being fueled by rage that trains a new sith villain through old holocrons she finds with his training etc. should be darth talon. Darth maul should be guiding her through the dark side of the force.
shes still a Star Wars Disney Princess. she lived on her own as a parts cleaner in the dessert abandoned and dreamed about leaving. Her character and story wouldnt be so disappointing if it wasnt so similar to Luke. Even-though there can be similar arguments about Lukes training we dont see. I really wished they took more time with 7,8,9. A new death star ?, a new desert orphan daughter of Harkanan ? a undead emperor ? Please just make these stories part of the world between worlds . these new movies will hopefully include Ezra poppin up and showing us it was all a head fake.
Daisy is old now (32), it's sad how bad Disney treated this woman, so few movies and most of them terrible. She is a lot more likeable in interviews and behind the scenes content than what she portraits with her characters. Might as well just let her play herself in everything, like some other actors do.
Rey is Kennedy's favourite toy, just like Ahsoka is Filoni's. Oh... oh no... what if they smash their toys together via the Magical Bullshit Dimension?
I was never a big star wars fan. I've seen the movies a handful of times, but seeing Disney's mishandling of this franchise has made me utterly interested. It's like watching a Steakhouse, that's been loved for years being taken over by new owners, and rather than continue the operation, they no longer offer meat and guilt the customers if they ask for it, and publicly berate them for not accepting the new menu.
I think the skepticism is warranted, but I appreciate that you are always willing to hope for the benefit of the doubt! I think there A LOT of good and great writers out there, we just have to pray that Disney hires one or multiple of those and maybe consults some Star Wars lore experts to keep things calling back to relevant themes from the real series. I could see a good writer taking the Rey that already exists and making them a mentor whose struggle is now trying to teach someone who has potential but is having difficulty while they (Rey) never had to experience that difficulty because it all came so naturally. I think that could be a good character development arc and a proper handing of the torch to a deserving character, while giving Rey some redemption by having her need to (and eventually follow through on) become(ing) relatable by relating to someone who has to WORK for it! Just an idea, I’m no writer, but that seems like low hanging fruit for a concept…
I mean, what's probably going to happen is they're going to use the 15 year time skip to make up a bunch of "important struggles" that Rey went through in trying to justify her new role as a mentor of the force. It's a very Disney thing to do.
@@lanceuppercut6168 this is easy, barely in inconvinience. have her learn vapaad from windu's ghost since she is all the jedi and like the avatar can probably speak to them or some bs.
Best way for this to work is create a “clone wars” type cartoon with Rey…. And use that to tell her story after the 7 8 and 9 movies…. Gives us a few seasons like that…. Then give us a movie 10 11 and 12…. This way her character builds depth…
Look, if Kanan knew enough to teach Ezra, and Ezra knew enough to teach Sabine, and if Sabine can then teach the audience to stop liking Rebels, then why can't Rey and Ahsoka be "The Chosen One"? This all makes perfect sense 🤷♂
Also yeah, Bastila Shan would've been the EASIEST female lead for them to capture ALL audiences as the most badass woman in Star Wars history. I love KOTOR and when you unlocked bastila as a playable character, you felt STRONG.
Honestly, these might be the first Star Wars movies I don't bother to watch. I'm so disappointed in the direction of the IP after episodes 8 and 9 and The Acolyte. This trilogy idea sounds like more of the same
Rey could teach by explaining her failures to a younger generation, while also stepping down into a secondary character (similar to how Obi-Wan did in episode 4). That way we focus on a new story with new characters, BUT THESE NEED TO BE BETTER.
I started to stop caring in 1999. Albeit some production peaks kept SW under life support (SW X-WING TMG, Rebels and Mandalorian I&II), the process was more or less completed in 2017. Only to watch in moderate astonishment how the franchises dead corpse was being ground to bone powder, thereafter. These days I am content with sticking to nostalgia. And that's it!
I sincerely hope these stupid ass movies NEVER HAPPEN. I'm sick of the character of Rey, despite the actress...I don't give a damn about Disney. They have destroyed Star Wars and until someone else purchases it it's doomed as long as it's under KK and Disney.
I think if we remember Obi wan from the OT he really wasn't a main character, in terms of screen time, he was a supporting character. That could be the thinking for Rey, she will be more of a supporting character, than a main one in these new movies
I think the best thing they can do is explain the reality that Rey is a clone through the use of Palpatine and Luke’s severed hand. Her “dad” can be a clone of palatine who wanted to protect Rey as his own.
Old Tatooine lady: Who are you? Rey Palpatine... I mean.. Skywalker? What are your pronouns? Rey: I'm Rey... Kenobi - Master of All The Jedi Ghost Yoda: The power of many, she is. *End credits*
The only life that Rey knew was life on Jakku from the time she was a toddler until the time she ran into Finn. Basically, they wanted to give her a childhood and adolescence that was worse than Luke and Anakin, since she would be deprived of any knowledge of her parents' demise (unlike Luke) and therefore be hopeful for a reunion. At least Anakin had his mother. So, Rey should have went through quite the huge personal development arc from holding out hope for her parents or Luke to come rescue her, to becoming the Avatar of the Light side of the Force itself. And we did not receive that arc as it necessarily should have been sufficiently presented to us within the Sequel Trilogy. Therefore, a LEAP to mentorship Space Wizard / Obi-Wan Status is yet another development in which the audience won't be able to be shown on screen: we will simply be told by Disney that this is so, which will be much more difficult to grasp in regards to Rey's character.
Not just that. Let's look at what JJ Abrams left on the table at the end of episode 9. Kenobi had a reason to be on Tatooine, because George Lukas had planned for a backstory that set all his characters up. Abrams on the other hand planned from midday to lunchtime. One big spectacle to get it over with, with no regard to a potential continuation. At this point the smart move would be to let Rey die of old age off screen, build her a nice statue in front of the somehow reestablished Jedi temple on Coruscant and start over two or three generations in the future.
@@Volkbrecht That would actually be much more reasonable - a legacy of Rey - rather than to have Rey herself in the movie as the mentor. And it would provide a clean break from the Sequels so that it would have a chance for prosperity in the theater.
If Kathleen Kennedy believes shoving a Mary-Sue character with a terrible character/story arc down our throats is going to get her her big hoorah then she is sadly mistaken. Only now she’s decided to take on George Lucas' sequels idea because she wanted to get rid of Luke originally to make sure that a female shaped the future of Star Wars.
She should have been related to Obi-Wan! You could have made such a good backstory of Obi-Wan having a bastard son or daughter who had to make a tragic choice for her safety. Obi-Wan is the main character of the entire series, she could have easily continued that because she heard his voice when opening the box with the lightsaber in it. It could have developed to be about her connection with Luke who was speaking for Obi-Wan. Instead they brought Yoda in to be Zeus and shit.
So now she’s a Palpatine, a Skywalker AND a Kenobi. Nice.
And a Binks

That's exactly it...and I've replaced sw.
Which means hopefully she'll barely make it an hour into the first of her films
When we all know she's actually replacing Palpatine for the ruin of everything good in the starwars galaxy.
Does that mean she dies in the first 30 min of the next trilogy?
That would probably be the only redeeming quality of that movie if they did that 😅

We got a Rey trilogy, and Obi-Wan got shafted in a dog shit series.
i don't even consider the sequel trilogy cannon at this point. idgaf what Kennedy says. they lit SW on fire and danced in it's ashes for most of 7-9.
same, I switch to Legends cannon after Bad Batch and Rebels.
Same, I think that's what everyone should do. SW community should write a new 7-9 to replace the current one, consider it canon and ignore future disney production
Everything Disney releases is non-canon to me. Filoni is a clown and his work is as mature as Blue’s Clue’s.
It’s essentially just heavily funded fan fiction
completely agree, its all live action expanded universe 'fan' fic to me. i reserve the right to accept content that fits the universe (R1, andor, solo) doesnt bother me what they spend money on or who they want their characters to parallel im not watching it anyway
How can Rey teach anyone else to be a Jedi if she never had to learn anything?
Rey does exemplify the principle that "there is no try", there is only instantly and effortlessly doing (and never not doing).
Luke and Leia tried but she was already better than them due to “reasons”.
"alright younglings. step one: be the biological granddaughter of likely the most powerful sith to ever live. and now, younglings...you are ready to fight a sith lord."
Exactly wth are they thinking over there🤣
@@toodlepopWhich is already an inherently flawed idea because it's already been established by Lucas that having a high midi-chlorian count doesn't make you a master of the Force by default.

That could actually work. Maybe if someone with a brain gets ahold of the franchise though.
I had hoped since ep.7 that they would make her dark side. It would have worked indeed. I doubt they'll do it though. Virtue signaling and stuff.
Either this will never happen, or we get to see the glorious sight of empty cinema rooms.
Zero chance this happens. Gonna be like the Rian Johnson trilogy.

That's just as terrible as whatever Disney will think of.

Disney is awful at reading the room.
They’re too focused on their Pronouns, colored hair, and septum piercings.
Illiteracy is sad but Disney seems to resist learning. 😂

Best way for this to work is create a “clone wars” type cartoon with Rey…. And use that to tell her story after the 7 8 and 9 movies…. Gives us a few seasons like that…. Then give us a movie 10 11 and 12…. This way her character builds depth…

@GnasherGear Yeah, it was before all the crap they pulled. Now we don't want it from them. Too little to late.
No, WE do not, some people understand that any setting or character with pre-established lore will be destroyed and want disney nowhere near them.
I feel a disturbance in the force.
The most frustrating thing is that this new trilogy will probably be what we wanted 7, 8, & 9 would be...Luke training Jedi.
Disney has no clue what they are doing nor do they know what the fans want.
Rey replacing Obi-Wan? Oh, fantastic! Because nothing says "wise Jedi mentor" like a girl who mastered the Force faster than a UA-cam tutorial.
This trilogy idea sounds like more of the same
I have no plans to watch. At this point. I'm not any sure I will watch the Mando movie. I'm just numb and apathetic towards Disney Star Wars....
Rey could teach by explaining her failures to a younger generation, while also stepping down into a secondary character (similar to how Obi-Wan did in episode 4). That way we focus on a new story with new characters, BUT THESE NEED TO BE BETTER.
Rey: "And I... am all the Jedi" Well I guess she meant it more literally than anyone thought.. Can't wait for her Mace debut.
Do they hate money?
This is like Joker stealing a mountain of money just so he can pour gasoline over it and watch it burn.
I think if we remember Obi wan from the OT he really wasn't a main character, in terms of screen time, he was a supporting character. That could be the thinking for Rey, she will be more of a supporting character, than a main one in these new movies
Disney just stop. No one wants any more Rey movies.
I can't even begin to consider accepting a new Rey movie unless the Sequels are taken out of canon
Why do they keep forcing her down our throats
Just leave us alone bruh
I think the best thing they can do is explain the reality that Rey is a clone through the use of Palpatine and Luke’s severed hand. Her “dad” can be a clone of palatine who wanted to protect Rey as his own.
Old Tatooine lady: Who are you? Rey Palpatine... I mean.. Skywalker? What are your pronouns?
Rey: I'm Rey... Kenobi - Master of All The Jedi
Ghost Yoda: The power of many, she is.
*End credits*
You just saved Disney writers 800 billions to write this, great job!
They won’t stop untill rey has become everything and everyone at the same time
If Kathleen Kennedy believes shoving a Mary-Sue character with a terrible character/story arc down our throats is going to get her her big hoorah then she is sadly mistaken.
