      I’ll never be able to stomach Bo Katan as a character tbh, and Kathleen Kennedy of course trying to make her a hero when she was a terrorist responsible for the fall of Mandalore and the deaths of her sister and countless of civilians is still outrageous. Disney going with that while nerfing Boba and Din just shows how far this franchise has fallen. Nothing against the actors. Just can’t stand how they’re writing the characters. The only two things George really did wrong were:

      Lucas' Star Wars is firmly anti-authoritarian. It's not the political agenda that's the problem, it's the incapability of the writers to handle the topic well, show and not tell, and to wrap it all up in compelling stories and characters we connect with.

    • @46sn29
      @46sn29 12 днів тому +8

      @bluemoondm8629 I believe that's what the OP was attempting to say. Obviously, there is nothing wrong with political themes in movies. The problems occur when the movie fails to naturally tie the political themes into the films narrative, and it becomes so heavy-handed that you feel like you are being preached to instead of entertained. Horrible advertisement also doesn't help. I don't care if a movie is gonna "own the chuds". I don't care if the movie's cast is incredibly diverse. I dont care if the movie features an LGBTQ character. NONE of those are selling points to me to get me interested in the film. So if those are a film's main selling point, I'm not gonna be interested. The only things I care about is a good plot and interesting characters. Those are the only two things that matter. If those things aren't center stage, your movie is a dud.

    I do agree with you about most points, but I do think there is room for more variety than the grand space opera style of the original movies. I think you are right in that those stories need to remain the center of the universe, but the world of Star Wars is incredible. I know you didn't like Andor, and I see where you're coming from, but I think Andor is a great example of variety done right. They fit the story in a place and time where the story they wanted to tell made sense, and just set out to tell a compelling, character driven narrative. Where various other shows go wrong, at least in part, is they fit the world to the story without regard to canon, logic, or character. Instead of letting the world define their story, they let their story define their world (like Book of Boba Fett). I'm not saying Andor is the future of Star Wars, but it absolutely demonstrated that a wide variety of stories can be told within this universe without breaking the world around it.

    Star Wars canon was something that I wasn’t aware of outside of the movies when I was younger. I met my best friend who was a Star Wars fan who educated in the expanded lore and universe, what was canon BEFORE it was called “Legends”, blew my mind. There was a lot of cool stuff, but I could honestly say that Kyle Katarn and how much he influenced the continued story after episode 6.
    I think what Star Wars lost was the ability to tell a story that could have characters that didn’t need to be good for the sake of being seen, either for relatable or identifiable for an audience member rather than the audience as a whole. Katarn had a wide and colorful character arc throughout his adventures as well as many vital involvements for the continued story.
    Kathleen being axed would be good, but it wouldn’t fix the problem if the person who comes next doesn’t have a passion for Star Wars outside of just trying to claim impact monuments for the franchise or for just seeing cash flow in overabundance just cause a character looks cool.
    Passion is what Star Wars has, but currently not for telling a story that promotes the characters to be anything more than cardboard cutouts.

And while many of us recognize Andor was objectively good and a super nice surprise after the horrible projects released before and after it, it was still slow and boring at parts, and ultimately didn't feature any main players. I haven't been pleased in a long time and I don't even consider myself hard to please. I haven't read many but every Disney book I've read I've loved (New Dawn, Tarkin, Thrawn), I consider the main 3 2015 comic series (Star Wars 2015, Darth Vader 2015 and Doctor Aphra 2015) to be the best SW comic offering of all time alongside the KOTOR comic series. Loved both EA Star Wars Battlefronts, the second one being an all-time favorite pew pew game of mine. I loved LEGO SW TFA, loved their mobile MMO that's long shut down now, liked Squadrons, loved Freemaker Adventures, loved Rebels, loved Andor, liked Mando, liked Resistance even. To this day I still defend TFA and think it's solid despite its sequels, Rogue One and Solo are also great. The expansions that have come to SWTOR after the Disney takeover I've thoroughly enjoyed.
    Why am I hard to please? Because Fallen Order felt meh and I called it such? Because The Bad Batch are bad and bland characters so the show was boring to follow? Because Omega contradicts lore which I inherently don't enjoy? Because I found Book of Boba Fett, Acolyte and Obi-Wan Kenobi bad on a literal production level alongside the rest of their problems? Cause I thought LEGO SW TSS was way too large with way too little value and almost no levels of traditional platforming? The new LEGO SW films, they lack the heart. Freemaker Adventures told a great tale in a comedic way, the new ones tell a barebones 'funny' tale in a comedic way, they don't have a point, or am I just hard to please? Visions was a wasted opportunity, a nothing burger. The High Republic, which fits in-between Knight Errant and TPM, feels disjointed and contradictory, it feels weird. LucasFilm is the Nintendo of cinema, they actively don't want you around.
    I'm easy to please, they're not making good stuff.

    I really liked Bo Katan when she debuted in Clone Wars. She was great in Clone Wars season 7 and Rebels. However, I started to dislike her when they focused on her so much in Mando season 3 and made her the leader of Mandalore for a 2nd time with no backlash from anyone. You'd think that someone, especially Mando's group, would call our the fact that she has wrongfully taken the Darksaber, aka the throne of Mandalore, two times now. And why didn't anybody question the fact that she terrorized her own people with Pre Vizla, failed to take back Mandalore from Maul, was responsible for the night of a thousand tears, and GAVE Gideon the Dark Saber. But everyone is cool with her just taking the reigns of the mission to free Mandalore and the throne. Oh, and don't forget that she got the Dark Saber, which has survived for thousands of years, destroyed in a stupid move against Iron Gideon.
    So yeah, Bo Katan was once a cool character with potential. But she has been ruined due to inept writing and pushing feminism.
