      Flo died duringxthe last era of trusting your boss and the we are family. When the boss only family is George Abraham,Grant, and sorry ass George. Now a days everybidy gets them a lawyer. The way this woman was treated to promote Miss Motown was indeed criminal. How Mary surrvived it is really the tale of a strong woman.Flo was singled out as the boggey woman and was sent up the creek without a paddle as well as damn near the whole Motown family. If he wanted to pursue motion pictures fine but leave someone in charge of the musical dept. and keep those artist going.Smokey or mickey Stevenson, Holland Dozier and Holland were well capable.The Berry Gordy Story needs to be told. As he is one of the most powerful black man on the planet we will have to wait for his desmise.Just hope Im still alive to see the movie or read the book.

    • @zapdunga12
      @zapdunga12 Рік тому

      Rating the best in music is subjective. But here is my opinion. In the golden Era, no one was better than The Mills Brothers and The Andrew Sisters for 3 part harmony.
      The 50's and early 60's brought a lot of doo wop groups but they were more than 3 part harmony. The 4 Seasons have to be put very high on the list as do The Belmonts. Peter, Paul and Mary and The McGuire Sisters had great 3 part harmony. Now I'm mainly talking harmonies, I mean The Temptations were fantastic but they were 5 voices not 3. The 4 Tops, 4 voices. The Mamas and Papas harmonies were incredible but again 4 singers not 3. Crosby, Stills and Nash have to be rated very high for 3 part harmony. The Beach Boys harmonies were unrivaled but again more than 3 singers. The BEST vocal group for more than 3 singers hands down were The Eagles. I mean no group comes close. But they had 5 singers. The Beatles had great 3 part harmony and have to be ranked very high. But the greatest vocal group of just 3 singers only and who wrote their own songs as well have to be The BEE GEES. I mean they were Brothers and singing since they were born. With Barry on the bottom, Robin in the middle and Maurice on top you are talking perfection. The Supremes were a great act and sold a lot of records. But they were not really a 3 part harmony group. They sang songs written for them and the group was basically Diana Ross, with Flo and Mary singing background stuff and looking good. But it was Diana Ross's show. The others were background singers.

      Flo was HILARIOUS. Some said she could have made it as a comedienne. All three were talented. Unfortunately, Gordy got tunnel vision for Ross and didn't see that he could have tripled his money pushing all three in different areas. For example, I think Mary's sexy voice would have been great for jazz.

    This sums up Diana Ross to a tee. In the 80s Diana Ross was looking for an apartment in NYC. The task of showing her choices was given to a young intern who was abused, berated, yelled at, pushed, criticized and insulted for 4 days. No problem there I guess because I mean she's Diana Ross and this girl was just an intern. . . . . except, that the intern was the daughter of the President of MGM at the time. Fast forward a week and Diana Ross runs into said executive at Elaine's and comes over to say hi because she was interested in a movie that was being discussed at MGM. Said executive was eating dinner with his daughter. Ross took one look at her and after she was introduced, again, only this time with her last name attached, she about threw up on the table. Needless to say MGM didn't hire Diana Ross.

    It is unknown how much preparation John Daly had for The Supremes' appearance on the show. Sometimes, there were times on the show when the appearance of the "Mystery Guest" was uncertain, due to heavy traffic leading to the studio due to coming in just after a performance, or due to heavy snow or rain slowing traffic in the New York City area. On the last episode of the show, John Daly stated that the closest a "Mystery Guest" almost didn't show up on time was 30 seconds prior to the segment.

    Whenever there were groups of people that were the "Mystery Guest" on "What's My Line?", they only allowed one person the be seated, with everyone else standing behind and/or around the seated guest and the seated John Daly. There simply was no room on the set to seat everyone that needed to be seated at any given time, with the exception of two people, like Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, or Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. Three or more had to stand behind the single seated guest and the host.

    According to Ross herself, her mother actually named her Diane but her name was recorded as Diana on her birth certificate by mistake. She always went by Diane at home and school, but her high school yearbook listed her as Diana, and the Supremes' first album, in 63, listed her in the liner notes as Diana. She did however introduce herself as Diane at their first Copacabana engagement in 65, but later that year started introducing herself as Diana. Her intimates still call her Diane apparently.

    John Daly (the host) was a highly educated gentlemen, and was not the kind of person who used a lot of slang in his language. Daly could come across as a bit of a "stuffed shirt" at times, but as a news reporter and (briefly) a news anchor for ABC News, he had to be as down to earth as he could in order to communicate the news informatition effectively. He let his formal journalistic tendencies overtake him at times, and this was a sample of that eccentricity.

    In Dream Girls, Mary Wilson's autobiography, she makes quite the point that Diana's real name was Diane, and that she thought Diana was more elegant. When she was born, Diane Ross was supposed to be her legal name. However, there was a mistake on her birth certificate and it listed her name as Diana. Despite this, her family and friends called her Diane during her early years. As The Supremes gained fame and she became a major celebrity, she embraced the name Diana, or Ms. Ross, and used it professionally from then on. She generally did not like being called 'Diane' after becoming famous. At that point, people would refer to her as Diane when they wanted to spite her.
