His act seemed so strange in it's time- people didn't know wether to take him at face value or as maybe some kind of parody. It's amazing to see him here, out of character he seems like such a gentle soul and down to earth person. The way he describes his experience before becoming popular sssounds like the story of a struggling aspiring musician. It's easy to imagine from seeing this that under maybe different circumstances or at a different time he might have become a serious mainstream musician. Herbert Buckingham Khaury; I'm gonna see what wikipedia has on him.

poor guy collapsed of a heart attack in '96 doin a show about an hour north of my town. He had a legendary personna. Almost like Andy Kaufman in the sense that you were better to enjoy him vs trying to understand him. R.I.P. Tiny Tim

While working in midtown Manhattan, late 70's or early 80's, I had the great surprise to encounter Tiny Tim as he carried a bag of groceries! Apparently he lived right there on Lexington Avenue below 42nd St. Of course in NYC you do occasionally bump into famous people, but this is one I will never forget!

I just did a little bit of research, and Bennett Cerf, who was one of the original panelists, passed away the year before this episode was aired. I think Bennett was my favorite panelist in all the time I've watched this show, and I'm so glad that Tiny Tim made an appearance. May they all rest easy. This has to be one of my favorite shows of all time.

Despite his fame as a "novelty act", Tiny Tim was actually a very competent and serious musician and a scholar on popular music from the early twentieth century. He was also a very humble, sincere, and polite person - that was not an act.
