I wish there had been some programs like this when I was in school. It is a good head start for young people with the love of cooking.
It’s a under-appreciated field. Many restaurant operations the profits are razor thin and the employees are underpaid, for a demanding job not everyone is built for. I did a high school culinary trade program and had a passion for the art and a blessed feeling of preparing life and soul nurturing delicacies for many, many people. Giving is such a rewarding thing, for all involved. 25 years in the industry has left me exasperated, burnt out and feeling used. Sad cause I know many others feel the same way. Thats not everyone’s path and story. But many, too many. We all need food to live. Providing that in a special, memorable way will always be engrained in me. I just wish the experience wasn’t so tainted by capitalistic greed, abuse and carelessness.
yes yes yes. many programs of this type can be highlighted and showcased. trade school education was and should be a viable form of education. two year college degrees get you working and doing what you want to do without large debt. i might add many learn these skills from their homes by helping grandparent or parent in the kitchen.
I hope these students further their education!!!
I think it has to do with pay and not that young people arent interested
I went to Austin Texas. My first ever trip i took. Last year. Austin was great and their food was great. Yet I went to August Escoffier School of Culinary Arts when I was down there because I have a growing interest in wanting to attend there. I got my hands on some cooking but its nice to see that there is other things going on into help better shape up the food industry. I would like to see this place if i can this summer and see what they do.
Hair dressing cosmetology high school degrees reach enough to be state licensed in every us state
Because the pay for this industry is garbage. Plain and simple. It’s not sustainable.
