- Hello friends! Welcome to my new series of videos featuring a sort of leap-of-faith into some things I'm quite passionate about. Though I know a video game is hardly accurate and though I know that dozens of much better channels exist to tell accurate and historical counts of real battles and such throughout history, I decided to do something a bit different.
Welcome to Meridian IV! Meridian IV and its sister planets are part of an ongoing science fiction fantasy I am currently writing and have been working on for the better part of a decade now. Though some of it is more the NSFW side, there is another part of it more grounded in reality. Enter the fracturing of the Astari Imperium. A faction of humanity that once controlled much of united space and was a big threat to the Mars Alliance, another human-led faction among the stars. In roughly 2189, the Astari Imperium faced a massive internal crisis that splintered it apart and caused a massive civil war. In the ensuing conflicts, another power rose from its ashes to become a new threat to the galaxy known as the Maelgoth Dominion. The Maelgoth quickly swooped into the core systems and reconquered much of the fractured states, bending them to the will of their rather domineering ways and forcing them to either bend to their new overlords or be crushed.
It is now the year 2190, just at the beginning of the splintering and now, with their internal affairs conquered, the Maelgoths set their sights to the outer rim where the Meridian cluster now lay ripe for the taking. Though the Meridians would be taken by surprise at first, their ferocity and camaraderie would begin take root in an uprising that would scorch the galaxy.
The Battle of Meridian IV is a sci-fi fantasy story, using Company of Heroes 3 and its game engine to try and tell the tale of the brave defenders against a terrible evil empire. Though there are probably better sources of which to tell such a futuristic setting and story, I am wanting to utilize all resources I currently own to the fullest. I am a bit new to CoH3, but not new to the Company of Heroes franchise. I want to set the record clear, these games are played like a sandbox to tell a story, not play competitively or showcase professional skill. I want to direct my own tale and help flesh out my own world complete with its own people, stories, cultures, etc. To tell the story of the goliath being defeated by the David so-to-speak. I hope you all enjoy this test of the waters and let me know if you would like to see this series continued! I'd greatly appreciate any and all feedback, but be sure to be thoughtful and constructive with myself and down in the comments, please!
