Seems like all your GPS range finder videos are only for golfers with deep pockets. What's the best GPS range finder, that you personally would use, in the $50-100 range? Closer to $75 max honestly...
Honestly, it's hard finding a GPS or rangefinder for under a hundred bucks that's actually reliable and worth picking up. The only 2 I'd consider would be the Bushnell Phantom or the Golfbuddy Voice 2.
I had the opportunity to use my S10 the pass weekend first time. I have had three different types of range finders, this Garmin S10 is by far the best. Light weight watch, great numbers middle, back, and front. Plus other features I highly recommend the S10.
I have had this watch for a while now and I really love it: small, easy to use, has everything you need and nothing more. I wish it differentiated between strokes on the fairway and strokes on the green. Maybe it does in Connect but I am not seeing it. Really, for $119.00 you can't go wrong.
Bought the S10 in July 2020. Read the Quick Start Manual and was confused immediately with the Up-Down-OK-Back buttons that are difficult to push in. Especial problem in the selection of English language vs. all the rest on the unit. I took it with me the first day, selected OK and waited for my golf course. No action for 10 minutes, after which I started pushing buttons as I viewed French and Spanish presentations. After waiting for action on my S10 for 5 holes, hole 6 suddenly showed up the the screen and provided the paid for correct Hole Number, with distances, green shapes and par number. Someone from Garmin should provide how-to-do-it step by step on UA-cam or their own video. It still has the Hole 10 information on since I played 9 holes. I'm afraid to push a button!
steve bone from every point on that particular hole. If you shank one too close to another fairway it will switch to that new hole but will switch back when you get back on course.
My CHristmas Present finally got used in March and wont stay charged for even one round. Calle dGolf Galaxy and was told the 90 day period since CHristmas has expired. $$. I remember it was the last one so I am suspicious about someone turning in one with a crappy battery so, I’m paying for a brand new one and getting someone elses crap !
Does the S10 count down your yardage when you walk the course? So if I hit a tee shot 220 yards on a 400 yard hole will it tell me there is 180 left to the pin?
I bought the S10 a few months ago and every time i use it ,I can"t get it past the 5 hole ,I have tried manually to change the hole and it gives me every option but wont change hole £120 down the drain.
The functionality wouldn't know your standard, club head speed, strike etc, so if it recommended a club it could be completely wrong based on your play ability.
The S20 has a few more features but is a bit more expensive. It has automatic shot tracking, can be used with the CT10, fitness tracking, and a better battery
I have just bought this watch and have had issues with it. I have been golfing 6 times since purchase with this not working on 3 occasions. It takes much longer than 60 seconds to try and find a satellite. I am unable to get this watch to show course hazards. The accuracy of the yardage is much different than other watches - which is right? There is no manual with this watch - just a set of confusing (at least to me) instructions. If I was a consumer looking for a golf watch I would give the most serious consideration to passing on this one. As an aside, the golf watch strap is about as poorly designed a product as can be - it would not surprise me if this was deliberate and I expect my strap to break any day now after having used it only a few times. I was FAR happier with my Garmin S3 which worked magnitudes better than this one.
there's a lot of people on here saying its rubbish I wonder if its be cause they are not checking for updates and downloading had my for awhile now had no problems also helped improve my scores oh and by the way it wont take the flag out for you either !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I keep hearing that this what you get for a cheap entry level golf gps. But..........100+ dollars is not cheap to me and for that price it should work, period.
The buttons are too fiddly and the software is too clunky. Using it to keep score is laughable, it is just not a practical option, your playing partners would be screaming at you to get a grip while you're trying to enter a score . It often does not automatically roll over to the next hole and then you have to fiddle with the buttons to advance it manually, another nightmare as sometimes the buttons work and sometimes they don't. The diagram showing the green shape is a complete waste of time on a wristwatch and the hazards are incomprehensible if you are able to get the screen to come up. I have had two of these and they both went wrong because of the buttons not operating properly. Let's be realistic, it's just a wristwatch and all you need is the distance to green, everything else is too fiddly on a wristwatch size to be anything but a nuisance. I guarantee you that this product will raise your adrenaline and frustration levels. This is a truly honest review.
Appreciate the info. I'd agree it's not perfect but It's an inexpensive entry level golf watch and was better (in my opinion) than others in its price range.
OB Golf Thanks for reply. I was not in any way criticising your review, I commend you for taking the time to do what you do. The biggest problem is that the buttons on the S.10 very often don't work. I agree that it's inexpensive but I'd be happy to pay twice as much for something that is reliable. Happy New Year.
I like hearing other peoples views and opinions since It gives me more info to look at the next time I review something. I definitely agree though with paying more for reliability and quality. Happy new year to you as well!
I have the Garmin S10 for 9 months and I do not recommend it. Very slow to log on to satellites. Lately it's not changing holes automatically. I'll never buy another Garmin!
I agree with this comment. It has failed to begin scoring after the first few holes and then mysteriously begins with no intervention - very inconsistent in scoring function. Buttons are very fiddly. I'll go back to using my S2 which always works well although display is not as easy to read as the S10

I agree. Thanks for the comment!
Does it give you your distance to the green from the fairway as well as the tee. Cheers
That's right.
I golf without my regular glasses. Is the screen easy to read? Big enough numbers? There seems to be a lot of numbers on the screen..

How do you charge? I can only charge my watch using computer. Will not work when I travel.
I like your review, well organized with lots of information , and compared it to s 20.
thanks.
Appreciate your comment
Love your reviews..very in depth and informative. Saves a lot of grief when considering purchases. Thank you
Appreciate your comment!
An excellent, clear & valuable video which is easy to follow. Thank you.
Does it have a replaceable band? My last Garmin didn’t.....so now I’m looking for a new GPS even the old one still works

Obviously, you need a caddy.
So just to clarify this watch shows your distances to the green from anywhere on the course and not just the tee box
Exactly
steve bone from every point on that particular hole. If you shank one too close to another fairway it will switch to that new hole but will switch back when you get back on course.
Once home, does any one know how to view your game history? The S10 is not blue tooth which is fine, I would just like to view previous rounds.

That would be correct.

That's frustrating. Do you have the latest update? Or talked to Garmin?
Thinking about buying this and my only question is does it recommend club selection?
No this one is more basic and doesn't have that feature.
The functionality wouldn't know your standard, club head speed, strike etc, so if it recommended a club it could be completely wrong based on your play ability.
no it does not but I happen to own one, and it's absolutely great.
IT does not choose your club but on long shots it will give you lay up yardage so you dont have to use a wood on the fairway
Can courses be updated? Shows as a feature of the S20 but not sure about the 10!
Yeah I'm pretty positive all Garmin devices can be updated.
How do I email you. You provide no e-add. I’d love to have the ebook and I bought the watch.
is it awkward to wear this for everyday use if you are not a golfer?
A little bit, yeah. Not the most comfortable watch
How does the S10 differentiate from the S20?

Yeah, the S10 is not one of my favorites currently. Thanks for the info.
well you've changed ya mind
I forgot to write giveaway when I said that the review was very good & helpful.

Yeah I'm thinking that's probably the case
I keep hearing that this what you get for a cheap entry level golf gps. But..........100+ dollars is not cheap to me and for that price it should work, period.
It's "cheap" compared to other golf watches on the market. There really isn't a whole lot less than this though.
Would like to enter golf giveaway.Great review, I actually purchased the watch.
👍
Looking forward to try out the S10. Giveaway
👍
Feels cheap but it works.
Yeah, it's mainly for people who don't want to spend a fortune on a watch.
