In the EU (which is target market for these bikes) the Ninja 400 has 44 bhp to comply with law.
The Ninja 400 only has 45hp in Europe, because it is too light, the Aprilia has the maximum hp with the lowest possible weight, so the website is right.
So no the regulations didn‘t change, the Ninja from the US wouldn‘t be legal for A2 in Europe.
why not just, tune the ninja after you buy it? illegally yes, but whatever

@@SSPENGUIN1Yeah there are a lot of rules. But for once I agree with these motorcycle license rules. I am just started taking lessons so in one sense it sucks that I can’t get a more powerful bike when I get my license. But I really understand why the rules are the way they are.
As you said max metric horsepower at the crank for an A2 license is 35kW or 47.6hp ,, but there is also a power to weight ratio of 0.272 hp/kg which says that if you got 47.6hp you need to have a bike with a wet weight of 175kg.. This bikes weigh dry 159kg,, so with a full tank and full oil 175kg would be right at that mark..

When you consider what the KTM, Duke 390 did for them in terms of sales in India. Then this bike could be an absolute game changer for a aprilia. Considering it's manufactured in India like the ktm. If you look at the sales numbers, the Duke saved that company. It literally put them on the map.

The Ninja 500 is coming next year, which is actually a 450 as well. Its basically just the old engine with a bit more stroke. Still no upside down forks.
I love this idea of the aprillia 457 because i really like these bikes and the best looking.
It weighs 385lbs wet here in the UK with 47bhp ( set for A2 euro licences ) so 19lbs heavier than the Ninja400. By the marketing it seems they are getting the best ratio claims by pushing it as sports bike, although anyone can tell by looking at the bars that its a city/street bike.

Wonder if some folks are being too hasty with skepticism. Seems like the rs 457 HP is being artificially limited for street. Holding back the torque figures is interesting... suspect they might be higher than the Ninja 400. Working through the consequences of that for a track engine map is exciting.
Aprilia did a great job of distilling the rsv4 down to the rs660 with street usability. If they can do the same from the 650 to the 457, it could be a great 'in-family' bike. Seems too like they tried to take all of the 'best' aspects of the RC390, Ninja 400, Yammie R3 & CFMoto 450ss into the rs457. Build quality & reliability is another story, though.

4:54 well 2023 ninja 400 makes 44,8hp not 48 and the actual 457 hp is 47,8 so I guess it has more power... The power to weight ratio is another story tho...
That 44.8 is at the rear wheels on a dyno.
It weighs 175kg or 385lbs wet according to Aprilia, and their weight numbers are generally spot on.

Aprilia quotes dry weight(no fuel, no fluids) and Kawasaki quotes wet weight (full tank + all fluids). Aprilia wet weight will be close to 390 lbs

the 457 tires simply look way too small in the pics. IDK what size they are but they look like 17's would have been better? Also the rear swing arm looks awful tiny compared to the massive front end area around the motor. I think thats why it kinda looks spindly in the back end too

Since the Ninja 400 is a sports touring style wouldn't the 457 with the super sport style be more in competition with the ZX-4RR even though the ZX is a 4 cylinder? Bet you the price would be on par with the ZX-4 lol
No ninja 400 is not a sports touring bike. It is a sports bike. That's why there used a track everywhere. The 457 interms of engine with the 270 degree crank is closest to the cfmoto but will still compete with the ninja 400 and r3 and rc390. The price will only be a bit higher over a ninja 500 and r3. It won't be anywhere near zx4rr prices

Both ninja 400 and rs 457 at stock dont have committed ergonomics make its sports tourer rather than sports bike. zx-4r/4rr is pure track bike. You can make these sports tourers to sports for racing by doing modifications.
It's in the same class as the ninja 400. But I think since it's an Aprilia it will likely cost a couple thousand more than the ninja 400 but be less than the zx4rr.

I'm REALLY interested in the baby ape for a track bike, but I have some questions about GP shift and what it does with a tune + pipe. All of the apes look the same, people always think my tuono v4 is a 600 till it starts. My '19 tuono needs rearsets for GP, can't just flip the linkage because of frame clearance..... I'm curious to see how much of the electronics are hidden behind dealer tools as well, last thing I want is a track bike that I can't work on easily. I won't be an early adopter, but I'll watch the forums and look for a salvage title on marketplace ;)

have no issue with my brand new RS660 except for strong vibrations around 7000rpm. Plastic creaking moinse so bad, makes me crazy. Already making me regret not buying Yamaha.
