    Vande Sangeetam!
    To music, I take a bow. It gives us so much, from rejuvenating our spirits and cleansing our mind, to a sense of physical well being and a definite spiritual direction if we choose. Sometime during our life, we need to prostrate before this power. We attempt here to share all that it has given us- Composers, ragas, thoughts on puranas. We also try to look at what we should do, individually and collectively, to ensure that its purity and profound beauty are passed on to the generation next.
    Recorded in natural setting in a village Mundaje, Karnataka.

    Namaste Sir!
    I believe that the sound of many words resemble their actual meanings.
    The small and cute word mOhanam can only mean beautiful.
    Small is beautiful... more so when it also means ' beautiful'.
    Most of the navarasas can be conveyed by this rAgam.
    It is cheerful and energizing the listeners the world over.

    The madhyama kala sahitya of Narasimha Agachha has always been a favourite of mine! Once again, the sheer beauty of your rendition with no loud music interrupting the way those beautiful Sanskrit lyrics resonate - just magical! Thank you for including this part today!
    Also loved the range of krithis by different composers, including the varnam....for children, the Mohanam geetham Varaveena Mrudupani itself seems to initiate their attachment towards this raga, a very upbeat piece after trudging thru the relatively slow, meditative Malahari geethams they usually start with. The fact that Mohanam is a popular combination of notes in Chinese music is a very interesting piece of information. Excellent episode, 10 minutes of pure bliss in terms of information and melodies!

    4:20: One more Raga which Sri Tyagaraja names in his Kriti at the very outset is Ganamoorthi. Maybe there are a few more such examples.

    Why total neglect of Daasa Sahithya? Why no dasa composition? Why again total neglect of Dr.BMK's composition? Why no Swati Tirunal composition? As it is maestro Vijay Siva's educative recordings, expectation is very high.

    For a student studying Carnatic violin from scratch, first happiness is when learning Varaveena. Till then, it's scratches. One Geetham changes the entire perspective.

      True, I too felt the same while learning my early music lessons
      It's a sweet breeze for the children

      Maybe the 'mrudu pAzni' makes the scratching stop once for all.
      Mrudu = Soft
      PANi = Hand
