- Rage Against The Machine is one of the most influential rock bands of all time, and their iconic guitar riffs have made them a household name in almost every corner of the world. So to make sure we did this legendary band justice, Ayla Tesler-Mabe relistened to their entire discography and hand-picked five of her favorite Tom Morello guitar riffs to share with you.
The songs we'll cover in this lesson are “Killing In The Name,” “Snakecharmer,” “Down Rodeo,” “Take The Power Back,” and “Testify.” Some of these songs will pose more of a challenge than others, so feel free to pick one or two of your favorites to focus on first. And make sure you have your tuner handy since a couple of these riffs are in drop D tuning, meaning you'll need to tune your low E string down to a D note. With all that out of the way, let’s get into the top five guitar riffs from Rage Against The Machine.

About Ayla Tesler-Mabe:
Ayla has been making waves in the world of guitar playing as a professional guitarist, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and composer, since the early age of 14. After only playing for two years, her first UA-cam video (a rendition of John Mayall’s “Hideaway”) put her on the map and kickstarted her music career. She has since been featured in Rolling Stone magazine, become a member of the Ernie Ball and Fender family of artists, and earned various Berklee College of Music scholarships. Musically, Ayla finds great pleasure in exploring the numerous avenues available to her through various styles of music, as seen through her work with Calpurnia and Ludic.

Love the sunglasses 😎 and the song! 💯🎸
Bulls on Parade is another good one from them. Especially with the solo where he tries to emulate scratching on a turntable on guitar.
I was thinking the same thing. I wonder if is because my name is Robert to 🤣
I actually love all the little slightly sarcastic verbal tidbits thrown into the banter here like, "please be super mean" in the comments. LOL! After watching a few of these videos I dusted off my PRS and played thru the pentatonic scale a couple times. Now inspired to pick it back up after a long spell of no playing. Thanks Ayla.
This has to be one of the best YT channels that I have subscribed in years. I enjoy every single video and lesson and I have learned a lot. Ayka is so knowledgeable and talented that makes it look so easy to play. Great videos!
Awesome video. Those riffs are sick, thanks for this video.
Awesome explanation to some great riffs!
You are awesome. This is one of my favorite bands from the 90s. I love it if you did a top 5 riffs for Alice In Chains, Soundgarden and Tool.
Great, don't forget the song "Wake Up", killer riffs...
This videos are amazing!
Thanks for highlighting some lesser known riffs and songs! I'm definitely going to go back and listen to them. I think my favourite RATM riffs are probably from "Wake Up" and "Born of a Broken Man"
Great!! Thank You. Greetings from Barcelona!!
The intro to Know Your Enemy is a good one too
brilliant! well done!
Love how you embrace the single coil hum. My home gurl.. worrrd 🤙🏻🎸
hi , i loved the video. please , what is your gear effect you are using?
all good stuff!!!!🙂
Liked major pentatonic scales and Minor arpeggio such as Fmaj7 , B Sus 4 and C add9 and Bmaj7 . Normally went I played it's .
hi , great video, what pedal are you using?
Killer band, killer video, killer guitar! What model is this? Any links? Thanks!!
Funky! Fat Albert cartoon funk lesson would be so cool. ❤🤘
yup .. well done !!!🌻🤘
Love me some Tom Morello. Ayla is the best.
Not a fan, but to each his/her own.
Top of the class
Nice AF
What Model Fender is that Ayla?
Sleep Now in the Fire is another underrated one :)
Was going to get a tele till I saw this awesome instrument. I want one. What is it? Can't find it on any website.
It´s a Fender Meteora :)
@@aranzavillasenor287 Hello. Thanks for the response. Ayla's Meteora is set up like a telecaster. I am unable to to find a Meteora set up like that. Was that a custom guitar made for her? Thanks.
@@fightforfreedom5193 I don´t think is custom, I´ve seen a couple videos of this exact guitar but it is truly a "different" Meteora. Maybe try looking for "Meterora 2018".
Is a beautiful guitar, I don´t own a Tele but now I want one haha
It’s a meteora parallel universe butterscotch blonde from 2018. It was a limited run. They have meteora production models currently with different setups but this one was the first
Ooooooo man thankyou!
@TELE_GRAM_ME_Guitareo_1 I don't know what that means. Candygram maybe. Keep it up. Thanks.
Do an"Audioslave"riffs too....
He’s definitely got his own style - part metal and funk
Thank you for this!
Nobody could be mean to you, ever, Ayla!
=)
You go from Taylor Swift to Rage, honestly my dream girl 🥺💕
🤘🤘🤘🤘❤❤🔥🔥
I WANT A METEORA!!!
Tom Morello does more with a guitar than a DJ does with 2 turn tables. Kudos to you for taking the time to decode the small details that nake Tom Legend 👏
Namaste Amen,
i'm here to listen you say "Hi internet my name is Ayla Tesler-Mabe" i'm furious you skipped that part
Hi Internet! My name is Ayla Tesler-Mabe.
I'm hooked Ayla. Hit subscribe button.
Damn girl, you're badass!
You spelled “Rage on behalf of the Machine” wrong.
wow so original! i haven’t heard that one before! good job!
Need basseo
Oh, i love you Ayla, but Morello have a much much less gain in his sound. I think a really low gain riffs it's trademark of RATM
Have you ever actually listened to him? Haha. He has a TON of gain, under the chrome cover of his tele is actually an active pickup and he plays on a JCM800.....
@@alexcorona listen some isolated tracks, he has a very low gain but strong attack
Rage on behalf of the machine lol
how come sleep now in the fire aint here?
This girl surely likes oddballs. The guitar. That not so popular rage song she prefers...
That reverb killed the riff a bit.
Can you spare a little more Rage? Or a lot
:)
first wueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
rather listen to you than him
What???!!!! No breakdown of “Bulls On Parade”???!!! Shame on you!!!
Ugh you need a noise gate or something. That sound is awful. Great lesson otherwise.
YEAH NAW THANKS i dont do communism
