I wanted to say two things as someone who owns a 2014 Grand Cherokee Overland... The buzzing noise that you hear randomly when the Jeep is not running is the vehicle's air suspension lowering the vehicle. Depending on how the vehicle is loaded and parked (heavy load/unlevel surface) you may notice the Jeep lift itself back to normal ride height when you restart it if it has squatted a bit. (I am kind of sensitive to its movements but others who have driven my Jeep or ride in it have never mentioned it). Next, the electronic shifter did take a lot of practice to get accustom to, however I love it. I have found that it is much like the "auto" down power window buttons on some cars...there are "detent" points that you feel when you pull back on it to give the feel that you have moved past each "gate" or "gear" but those are subtle. If you go at abruptly, you'll miss them every time.
I have owned a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland, 5.7 hemi, 360 hp, v8. One wonderful machine! EXCEPT for that darned electronic slap stick shifter. I have driven it for almost a year now. And, exactly as you said, I still check every time to see if I am in the right gear. I hate, hate, hate it. Just short of $50,000 and, seriously, I am ready to trade it just because of that daggone shifter. Get with it Chrysler!
Yep, just checked, and we bought it Oct. 10, 2013, and here it is Sept. 29, 2014 and I still haven't learned to appreciate that shifter. Yes, I did test drive the vehicle, and thought it would just take getting used to. Was I ever wrong! But, I agree, the UConnect system is excellent! Thanks for the review.
According to google the towing capacity on the diesel limited 4x4 is 3500 lbs. The summit is 6200. This is not the only review I've seen of these diesels that say the towing capacity is ~ 7200. Out of curiosity where do you get this information on towing capacity? Is it in the manuals?
i was wondering why the jeep's website configuration doesn't have panoramic roof and diesel engine option on the limited edition? but the host's rig comes with it???
+fatalxty You can build a Jeep with these options at our website. The EcoDiesel engine is $4500 MSRP while the Panoramic Sunroof is part of the Luxury Group 2 package costings $3000. www.autobytel.com/jeep/grand-cherokee/2015/configurator/
The host model was the summit package. It comes with the pano sunroof by default. I have the 2014 version of that same Jeep. I love the pano sunroof, and the EcoDiesel is excellent. And yes, my Summit edition does go off-road, though admittedly, if I want to really go out in the boonies, I have a 2004 Jeep that I take for that.
Hi.. First Thank you for your video . I am here in Cyprus planning to buy this model car 2015 with 51000mi , I want you advice after 4..5 years using the car ,unfortunately in Europe many bad comments about this model that have many problems... Please advise
I get much better than he's claiming with my 2016 diesel 4x4. I can easily get 32 mpg highway. Around town it's closer to 21 or so, but I'm kind of heavy footed in city traffic.
I have the regular suspension and it does not lean the way this guy describes it. Plus, most people aren't buying SUV's to speed through the twisties. Anyone who sits in a vehicle like a dork like this guy has no business reviewing vehicles. He seems very out of touch with what he is reviewing.
@Dongi Fueleconomy.gov says the Ecodiesel will save you $1000 in fuel savings per year. So it would take 4.5 years to break even over the V-8 engine. Anything after that and you are saving money. But the resale value is going to be higher with the Diesel.
Since when would a diesel get better gas mileage than a gas engine. I would say it gets better fuel mileage. Sounded to me like you where trying to talk people out of the grand Cherokee instead of going out to buy one.
The Taillights I feel like Jeep lacked on.... front looks amazingly aggressive but the back is tooo plain. Everything else about the jeep is great...can anyone agree???
Is it worth 50K, nope. A "traditional gated shifter" uhh NO. Why go backwards. This does need the rotary shifter. The powered hatch closer is going to lead to a nice lawsuit 'settlement' with some owners.
2015 OVERLAND IS A BETTER DEAL, BUILT IN TORONTO, NO PROBLEMS.... YOU LOSE TORQUE WITH THE BIGGER WHEELS, HELLO.... AH, THE AIR LIFT GOES UP MORE THAN 2.5", TRY MORE LIKE 5-6", GET REAL!!!))))))))))
I must agree that when you reach $50k your exiting the Grand Cherokee and entering into true luxiry car territory. Its frustrating as hell to know you can buy a Jeep GC in the high $20's so why would anyone in their right mind wannanpay $50k?
General Comment for US-based youtubers: Please also state the gas mileage as lt/100km in text form on video for helping audience from metric countries. We are tired of converting from mpg to lt/100km.

any problems and would u recommend this suv? i’ve read some pretty negative comments and now i’m second guessing
The buzzing noise is the air suspension regulating itself. It can only do so much while the engine isn't running as to not drain the battery
love the music, love the video direction, love teh review.Your reviews are really well balanced and spot on.
Great job :)
When you select SPORT mode there is no turbo lag, which makes a big difference when overtaking.
Great review on the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel SUV....
great freakin review! finally someone goes through a vehicle/jeep with a fine tooth comb. Well done my friend!!!
150k miles , 12k. Good price ?
Watched this video just to see if you noted the shifter that is attributed to Anton Yelchin's death
Got this setup in black for $36,000 new. Diesel, suspension, 4x4, NAV, all of it.
Got it for a steal
Damn, where at?
Orange County California

WHAT HAPPEND TO THE DUAL EXHAUST ON THE LIMETED?

the buzz is probably burning carbon off the particulate filter. the passat does that too
or it'S the compressor for the suspension. since it sounded like the compresor I have in my car for a train horn.
Love the car
What is the cheapest and most basic price of the eco diesel jeep grand Cherokee ???
great job man really you got a new subscriber
The transmission in these vehicles is a concern. I have a 2015 and it needed a completely new transmission at 12,000 miles. Buyer beware!
Wtf, I thought they put ZF in these
is the car small or the man big?
Does it smell like diesel my friend doesn’t want one cause he thinks it will smell.

Wow I love ❤ your reviews good job
There is no test drive
This is not limited edition, this is overland edition fully loaded (off-track adventure ll package)
22mpg, i have a ram ecodiesel, i figure this could be better mpg, my truck city highway is 23 combine, combo flat land and hills driving.
I get much better than he's claiming with my 2016 diesel 4x4. I can easily get 32 mpg highway. Around town it's closer to 21 or so, but I'm kind of heavy footed in city traffic.
I think you were more excited about the Toyota 4Runner.. Which didnyour kids prefer

Limited edition does not have those style of head lights
How much is the payoff period considering the 4500$ premium for the TD engine?

Autobytel Thanks! Not bad then - with the lower depreciation, you are looking at 3-4 years for break-even.
question is if the jeep will last that long
+Chris “orininalname” peter Well you have a 60 month 100k mile warranty
+keechmabreeks lifetime warranties are not offered with the EcoDiesel
Its hard to want this car when I see the Jeep warranty parking full of this particular vehicle
True that. Mine it has been parked at Jeep Center Polokwani South Africa and they still don't know what is wrong with it.
Considering a used 2011-2012 V6 4x4, anyone have any reliability issues I should know about before I go forward?

you can always change them out with different lights no big deal
Slovak Gamer that's true... but I rather buy something that looked decent from start
The back looks great to me
Moscato HD same
Isn't he the same guy from car gurus ?
I really like those Dodge Grand Cherokee's this year.
Jeep not Dodge
I love my jeep, it's a diesel
Me too. Limited model with diesel, 4x4, quadra lift, etc. It's the best! 32 mpg highway. 420 ft-lbs of torque!
Love the toque in my 2014 Summit. Diesel today is a heck of a lot cleaner than that of yester year.
Gtfo, u buy the srt model if ur complaining bout everything
this suv has heavy steering wheel makes me lift dumbell.
This was put up on my bday
whos the camera man...you never mentioned about that poor guy..lol
CHEROKEE A RELIABLE SUPER SUTO TRUCK . DON GERMAN
There is no way that that thing is reliable, or any Jeep for that matter all Jeep models have average or Worse reliability
I lost this guy 30 sec into it.
For that price, I'd rather buy a used 2012 or even 2013 Range Rover sport LUX
It's a goddamn range rover who the hell would want that over a grand cherokee and plus they compete in seperate classes
Its really ugly looking for a Cherokee but I like the diesel idea
Is it worth 50K, nope. A "traditional gated shifter" uhh NO. Why go backwards. This does need the rotary shifter. The powered hatch closer is going to lead to a nice lawsuit 'settlement' with some owners.
barely a test drive
CHEROKEE SUPER AUTO TRUCK.DON GERMAN
>"Gas Mileage"
>Is diesel

FOR 50K LEXUS GX460 BABY ALL BAY LONG AFTER 5 YR U GET DOUBLE PRICE WHEN U SELL. OFF ROARING IS THE SAME

You are wrong because Jeep has a very good second hand value no matter what trim or model you chose except the new Cherokee.
StratNut2008
Luxury SUV concept started with Jeep, If you want to spare the luxury SUV market for Europeans at least be less obvious.
StratNut2008 jeep is not what it use to be, at all.

nice car bad reviewer
This car is not worth 36k...heellll no.
Poor guy, still stuck in the past and can't realize that everything has been completely changed about the beauty of this wonderful suv.
Very true.
Wrong! It's worth $50 k or more.
This car has a terrible suspension, and almost tipped over doing a tight turn. /watch?v=zaYFLb8WMGM
Colin w that was the 2012 model...check out their updated test it performs well.
