Great upload. I'm in the UK and have a 2017 M240i. I've been busy over the year I've had it making it that little bit more. Top mount front strut brace, BAF k-brace behind rear seats, MST induction, turbo and exhaust manifold blankets, 200 cell high flow downpipe, Bosch B58TU HPFP, H&R 25mm drop lowering springs all round plus spacers, 12mm front 15mm rear. Flashed the gearbox with the XHP stage 3 software and last but not least a stage 2 ECU tune done by a UK company called Litchfield. Running 463bhp and 459ft-lbs. It's not an M2 but it'll leave one on the streets, it's an incredibly quick car, an M2 is the one you want, but the M240i delivers enough and more if you're not tracking it anything more than weekends! Still delivers then in abundance if I'm honest! I've still not reached the level I want, I have pollybush inserts for my open diff and subframe, plus an upgraded underfloor rear brace that I still need to fit! An insane piece of perfectly priced driving machinery! 😁 Myself as you and many others have done, we have bought an absolute weapon of a car with great off the forecourt with the ability and potential to go wild if you want to., the car dictates how quick and planted you are with each modification, an absolute peach of a learning curve and a clear indicator of how good the chassis is, yet they deconstruct its ability at source. Go wild folks, you won't be disappointed!
@@MatthewHowlett luckily where I live we don’t have any testing, but I know a lot of people who do switch back to the stock downpipe every couple years to pass emissions since it’s a relatively easy part to swap out and that’s pretty much the only way you can pass easily

@@MatthewHowlett yeah you should be fine running that setup, removing the cat on the downpipe is what seems to raise a red flag so you can either keep your stock cat to switch when needed or try to run a high flow catted downpipe
I ended up going single exit exhaust on mine, it gave a very deep tone but if I hadn't, this exhaust setup is what I would have wanted. Sounds incredible! running MHD Stage 2+ with e40 now. Also, great wheel setup! thats the style of wheel I want to go with but 17x9 as I want beefier tires for the roads in my area.
That’s sick! I haven’t heard a single exit yet but I’m sure it sounds good. You’ll definitely love stage 2+, especially with a e85 mix if you have some near you
Just bought a 17' 240 and I gotta say you've gone the ideal route on every part! Personally I'm just looking for a stage 1 or 2 to get a bit more boost and efficiency. Might get the AWE exhaust as well for the sound.
@@karl5428 yes I did! If you have an extra $600 to spare it’s definitely worth it and it makes the transmission feel a lot quicker and more responsive and smooth, but I wouldn’t say to make that your first priority
@@Broke-Media Do you think a res delete or downpipe would sound better? I have the stock non-upgraded exhaust unfortunately. Res delete makes more sense imo with the stage 1. If I go downpipe it would be stupid to not got stage 2. Looking for small gains though nothing too crazy.

Yeah definitely, I think the only time it really feels different is in corners or by size otherwise they drive very similar. Both great series and such a blast to drive
If you don’t need the extra space get an M240i imo, they look more sporty, they’re lighter, handle a little better, and they hold their value better too
@@ClashandFifa it’s actually not bad! I have a few friends around 6ft and all of them were surprised by the space, but I wouldn’t say they’d wanna ride in the back for more than an hour by any means😂
My friend has an M340i, 500bhp, I'm 463bhp, on a roll I'm leaving him, he has 4wd so quick off the mark but loses in the end due to weight. Plus if you're a decent driver with handling upgrades, the M240i handles better or as well as an X drive dependent on drivers ability!

And it depends what you’re looking for, if it snows where you are then get awd so you don’t have to worry but if not then rwd handles a little better and I think a little more enjoyable but awd you’ll be able to get a faster 0-60 or 1/4 times. RWD is still great with good tires tho especially on a roll

@ Yeah I make around 420whp on stage 2+ with the TU pump and I think all 2017's are open diff and only a small amount of 2018's have an LSD that was optioned in. 75k miles shouldn't be a problem but at the end of the day it comes down to how that car was treated. These cars can be pushed pretty hard without problems but maintenance is important like oil changes every 5k and spark plugs around every 15k and then trans fluid at 60k to help the life of the trans and then other small things. $25k doesn't sound like a bad deal but if you can talk them down then even better. If you really wanna go the extra mile to make sure the cars gonna treat you good then meet them at a shop and pay for an inspection that $50-$100 could save you thousands if they find something wrong
Do you remember how much louder the car was with the AWE exhaust? I’m trying to go for your sound but i’m going to have downpipe and stock exhaust for a little while.

I currently have a MK7 GTI and I plan on upgrading in the next year. I'm thinking either this or MK7.5 Golf R which are both similar in price (around 35K CAD$ where I live). What do you think?
In my personally opinion, I’d get the M240i which I think you’ll enjoy more as it’s something new and has more power capabilities. I came from a Mk7 GTI which I really enjoyed but fell in love with the B58 platform. If you do decide to get a Golf R I highly recommend the Mk8 since it has the new continental turbo rather than the IS38 which will be a better jump coming from a Mk7
@@Broke-Media That’s what I was thinking. The Golf R will more probably than not leave me wanting more. I also want some change and I don’t think I’ll be satisfied with the R, even the newer one.
I’m running ExtremeContact Sports which are surprisingly good, and I’d probably just go for a Vargas GC to aim for ~550whp on pump and 600whp on E50 I think that would be perfect

Either way tho, car can handle a tune with plenty of abuse without problems so I wouldn’t overthink it too much just find one you like that has good maintenance records or really clean

Tuning will basically void all engine warranty but the rest of your car will still be covered. If you’re not ready to tune the car yet and want to do other things like exhaust, suspension, intake, etc then the only warranty it will affect is that part directly, but if you change back to the stock part then they’d never even know and it would still be covered
@@alphanation368 assuming that’s about $23.5k USD that’s a pretty decent deal. Look for good maintenance history and also make sure the interior and exterior are well kept because that will say a lot about how the engine was treated

@@karl5428 if you’re going stage 1 then definitely just a res delete, if you go stage 2 then just a downpipe assuming you don’t want to be super loud
Muffler delete, straight pipes , turbo for whistle , borla after market exhausts, spoiler , more aggressive steering wheel, programming for 10-30+ horsepower

I highly doubt you’ll notice the weight or notice that much. If you are going to tune it the weight is even more so not relevant.
I always had a soft spot for this chassis, since the m235i back in 2014. since I owned and F30 they can relate a lot and always wanted one.

To run an E blend is a flex fuel kit needed or just MHD to tune it ?
Just mhd! You’ll just have to manually measure and calculate the blend

It all depends tbh, I like them if they flow well with the build but some stick out too much and don’t really flow with the body lines

Mppsk sounds the best, and Vargas gc is not a reliable turbo at all , best turbo to go with is DAW or turbo systems , pure is ok but has issues too.

Sorry to just copy and paste my comment, this for me has been an incredibly rewarding modification upgrade.
Great upload. I'm in the UK and have a 2017 M240i. I've been busy over the year I've had it making it that little bit more. Top mount front strut brace, BAF k-brace behind rear seats, MST induction, turbo and exhaust manifold blankets, 200 cell high flow downpipe, Bosch B58TU HPFP, H&R 25mm drop lowering springs all round plus spacers, 12mm front 15mm rear. Flashed the gearbox with the XHP stage 3 software and last but not least a stage 2 ECU tune done by a UK company called Litchfield. Running 463bhp and 459ft-lbs. It's not an M2 but it'll leave one on the streets, it's an incredibly quick car, an M2 is the one you want, but the M240i delivers enough and more if you're not tracking it anything more than weekends! Still delivers then in abundance if I'm honest! I've still not reached the level I want, I have pollybush inserts for my open diff and subframe, plus an upgraded underfloor rear brace that I still need to fit! An insane piece of perfectly priced driving machinery! 😁
Myself as you and many others have done, we have bought an absolute weapon of a car with great off the forecourt with the ability and potential to go wild if you want to., the car dictates how quick and planted you are with each modification, an absolute peach of a learning curve and a clear indicator of how good the chassis is, yet they deconstruct its ability at source.
Go wild folks, you won't be disappointed!
I forgot to mention the brakes, EBC disc upgrade and yellow stuff pads.
